"Legalize it for REC. and MED. use.1. Only people with a weak mindset will let other hard drugs get to be used by that person.2. NOT MIX (no stuff added), ALL NATURAL= GOODP.S life story marijuana work for my stress and anxiety, before and after almost being dead from other stuff... Something to Think about to the people that Con."
"Marijuana is not the gateway drug alcohol is. I was introduced to alcohol at age of ten. I was introduced to marijuana at age of 14 . I was introduced to cocaine and crack at the age 17 & 18 . upon being introduced to crack I became addicted to crack & left marijuana alone.I robbed & stole to get crack ,I later went to prison for the robberies, Related to crack. After release from prison I've never touched crack or cocaine I went back to drinking alcohol then back to marijuana which helped with my nausea and vomiting due hpylori bacteria. At that time nobody believed that marijuana helped my stomach condition.so yes marijuana is good for the body not only for nausea and vomiting , but for pain I am now & 45 yes old & suffer from osteoarthritis that's in my hands , elbows, shoulders, & neck I was prescribed meloxicam but it upsets my stomach & highly addictive . marijuana needs to be legalized period . I buy my marijuana illegally from the cartels making them richer , when my money could goin to state taxes.state taxed marijuana could be beneficial for the schools like Colorado does and not to the cartels. So to all the hypocrites do the right thing & quit crying & legalize it for my benefit & the states benefit."
"I agree with some of what you are saying, but I also find it a bit hard to believe that from a former drug addict who wants legalized marijuana. I'm not trying to be harsh, but you can understand where i'm coming from?"
"preach it brother"
"Whoever said marijuana is bad is wrong, people need to learn it helps people, It SAVES people's lives. And to be honest it helps WAY better than some other medicines. You know how many kids and other people had bad troubles and MARIJUANA, yes, MARIJUANA saved them. Come one people, it's at least better than other medicines and drugs out there that do almost nothing to help. And doctors have proved benefits for marijuana so don't use that as an escuse to dis marijuana. Marijuana is bad not by itself, but the way PEOPLE use it. Just hear me out, marijuana does have some bad effects, I understand that but it's worth it for the good effects. But, just please hear me out, IT HELPS AND SAVES LIVES!!!"
"Ha ha ha. If your life has to be saved by toking up you've already disrespected the universe"
"Please, give me an example of where it saved someone's life. I'm hearing you out now prove your point."
"marijuana should be 100% legal even to kids under age because many kids around the world could be depressed have pain and also kids that have to leave school to go to work have pain in different parts of the bodies."
"do you want your children to get high and shoot someone?!"
"I have PTSD and have been through therapy and on several different prescription medications, including Xanax, Zoloft, Seroquil, Respidal, Lamictal and Celexa. Xanax caused hallucinations, Zoloft caused suicidal thoughts, Seroquil caused dizziness, lightheadedness, and extremely low blood pressure, Respidal caused me to be an emotionless zombie, Lamictal didn't help at all, and Celexa made it impossible for me to focus. The only thing that has ever come close to working for me is certain strains of marijuana. It has never had any long-lasting side effects for me and has only ever kept me balanced. I don't use it currently because I'm not in a state where it's legal, and I'm afraid to buy it on the black market because if I get the wrong strain, it can make my symptoms worse. However, if it was legalized, I would not have that issue. I would be able to get the right kind for my needs and I wouldn't have to worry about possession charges. For now, I have to rely on therapy and working on my own coping mechanisms, which are not effective in all situations."
"help kill cancer cells and AIDS cells. Proven to be a better medical drug than pills."
"because I have had 28 surgeries I know pain. im allergic to Tylenol its in my medical files. I have PTSD and ADHD. i feel like it could help me in more than one way."
"I am pro medical marijuana availability because the THC in marijuana actually has effects that can be helpful to people. Such as epileptics and chronically depressed people. Marijuana's effects are able to help people like these."
"The original placement of marijuana on the level one drug category was an executive order made with racial underpinnings by then President Richard Nixon. His personal selection of drug addiction experts had NOT included marijuana in their list because they knew that it had positive medicinal value and there was not valid research that could show it to be addictive. The carcinogen value was low in the general use as smoked since the amount normally consumed by a regular user was too low to be of consequence. The primary value was to keep the "Drug War Money-go-Round" up an running as a profit to the criminal justice system, the psychosocial AA model in treatment and the drug cartels. THC stays in the system long enough to be identified as having been used for up to 30 days prior in persons with a higher body fat content. The end of the "Money-go-Round" for all is at hand. Stop worthless "so-called" treatment, the waste of criminal justice dollars, and drug cartel profiteering and legalize, tax and regulate marijuana as should have been done long ago. As a 30 year science base addictions professional, I am well aware of the truth along with the corruption."
"I have fibromyalgia and none of the current medications out there work for me. Opiates were a disaster. I need help now. I can't move. This needs to be done nationally. Please."
"I have Chrons disease and my abdominal and back pain became so bad by January this year that I tried marijuana and CBD oil.. My PCP said if I didn't get some help I was going to die. I weighed 83 lbs. I could not eat or do any of the daily activities I usually do and was very sick. My two doctors said my intestines were so inflamed I could not have surgery but also they could not give me any pain meds. All the current meds available were not helping and I've never got any relief in the past (21 years) so medical marijuana was my last hope. Since I don't live in a legal state I did not want to chance buying cbd oil overseas so opted to take Humira but am scared to death of the side effects. I continue smoking medical marijuana, though I have concerns about having an illegal substance, it has helped me so much with my debilitating fatigue, appetite, weight, eyesight, nausea and vomiting and the chronic debilitating pain in my stomach is gone. I am no longer depressed, either which is awesome to me. I am glad to be on the road to recovery and would become a huge advocate in favor of medical marijuana."
"I support medical marijuana I have arthritis and would like to be able to use it but I can't because people feel the need to keep it ileagal but its OK to take all kinds of meds that who know what's in it or drink beer and destroy your liver so get it done stop the harsament toward people that can use med marijuana in a responsible way"
"I'm a current medical cannabis patient in California. I'm terminally ill and an amputee. The use of this medicine I'm able to change depending on my pain. The more CBDS or THC levels if my anxiety level is up. I want to move home to the east . Government needs to listen to the PEOPLE and legalize it. People have a right to use the medicine that works and live where they want . It's been approved since 1975 for medical use. Really President Obama, how much more do disabled and I'll people have to suffer before the government does what's right."
"God gave us every green seed bearing plant on the face of the earth. Genesis 1:29"
"For many many years I have suffered with multiple sclerosis fibromyalgia and Migrains.. During different types of my treatments especially nausea and chronic pain I found that the pills got me cigarette times but never did the medicinal marijuana ever get me sick on the contrary it you should he took away all of my nausea.. Unfortunately the federal government has control over this in certain states and thank God that half of the United States of America has a ready legalized it.. This is over 60 years overdue people with chronic pain diabetes cancer AIDS glaucoma multiple sclerosis and even L a S should have access to medicinal marijuana and paid by the federal government... What I used to take in medications close to 10 years ago was an excess of six to $8000 monthly... How much money would I be saving the government every month if I was able to use creams bombs infusions cannabis oil cannabis candy different things to take my pain away I guarantee you I would even be close to less than 800$ a month just saying that's my opinion and hopefully people understand my point of view and as I said it's just my point of you"
"In Virginia,08-30-2015.I have had Multiple Sclerosis for 4[known] yrs.The worst type-Primary Progressive.Of all the research info.that I have read,M.S.ranks as #3 in benefiting from Cannabis use.I know that it does alleviate so many of the symptoms;however, since it has not been legalized here I must refrain from its use. What I would like to know,is how can the Governor here choose what conditions can use it?It seems quite unfair, unrealistic for this to be RIGHT.What deems one condition worthy & another not?M.S.is such a painful, disabling disease;life as I knew it,is so gone.I truly believe that the lawmakers should make Medical Cannabis LEGAL for All chronic conditions. There is a lot that could be said, yet it is nothing that hasn't been said many times before."
"For those of you who think medical merijuana is only for smoking you are wrong , pearents could bake or make the marajiuana edibal and it is proven to enhance the humans systems"
"First and foremost, marijuana needs to be removed from the schedule one list of drugs so that more research can be done and published and we can all be educated with the truth. From what I have read from what I believe to be very legitimate sources, marijuana has has tremendous possibilities to be used successfully in the field of medicine and in multiple facets. Let's remember that most of the major pain relievers in use for years and still in use today are derivatives of opium from the opium poppy and they are deadly, as are alcohol and tobacco! We need to look at marijuana scientifically and as a possible new amazing medicine that can be used to help numerous Illnesses rather than just as a social drug."
"My daughter was or has been taking about 11 different meds. When she gets marijuana she sleeps better and is less depressed. She is more active with her kids. She feels better about her self. she feels no pain and able to clean house and go for walks and ride bikes with kids."
"These are the side effects for Xanax and children my age (16) have all access to it .... this has more side effects then marijuana will ever have for a RESPONSIBLE user. depressed mood, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself, unusual risk-taking behavior, decreased inhibitions, no fear of danger;confusion, hyperactivity, agitation, hostility, hallucinations;feeling like you might pass out;urinating less than usual or not at all;chest pain, pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;uncontrolled muscle movements, tremor, seizure (convulsions); orjaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).Less serious Xanax side effects may include:drowsiness, dizziness, feeling tired or irritable;blurred vision, headache, memory problems, trouble concentrating;sleep problems (insomnia);swelling in your hands or feet;muscle weakness, lack of balance or coordination, slurred speech;upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea;increased sweating, dry mouth, stuffy nose; orappetite or weight changes, loss of interest in sex."
"Genesis 1:29 explains it all. The US says in God we trust until it comes to turning the pages"
"It should be legal for all adults. It is not as harmful as alcohol and has some benefits such as cancer fighting. Good grief. The war on drugs is a waste of money."
"Yes helps with Crohns disease. Relaxing stress relief."
"I have used marijuana over 30 years with no health problems except some gum and tooth loss. After battling with alcohol since the age of 12, marijuana is a safer alternative, and greatly helps me from relapsing back to the misery caused by alcohol. Marijuana allows me to avoid prescription drugs and the addiction and death associated with them. Over 100,000 Americans die every year from prescription drugs while marijuana remains at 0. I currently take no prescription or OTC drugs. I cured my skin cancer with oils from marijuana. I've lost so many friends to alcohol and chemical drugs I've lost count. I don't know anybody that died from using marijuana unless they were shot by the police for having some. Marijuana is illegal based on decades of lies from the government only to protect pharmaceutical, alcohol, tobacco and law enforcement revenue. The lies are being exposed and people are waking up that marijuana is a very safe, medically beneficial plant that should be available to everyone. I am very proud to be associated with this change and will fight for the truth until my feet hit the grave."
"I suffer from flashbacks from the war in vietnam and I take med for my ptsd and they make me spaced out in left field. I think that a couple tokes off a medical marijuana cigerate would be alot better and I could keep my sence."
"I am pro because medical Marijuana helps with many psychological illnesses such as depression. Also, medical marijuana has never killed a person, making it the safest drug out there."
"Marijuana is simply a plant and people treat it like a dangerous weapon"
"Heroin comes from poppies. And i'm pretty sure you can agree that that's dangerous."
"My wife is dying as I type this letter. My long visits to the hospice where she lays has me thinking about life and not death. Along with watching The Truth about Cancer, my thoughts turn to medical marijuana and it may help her. We have talked about cures of any kind within reason, we are not stupid. If this can help her then I want her to try it, I'm none sure how to do this yet, but I have the need so I will find a way."
"I have chronic pain and it is better for me than pain killers"
"There are so many medical benefits. I think that the "anti-drug war" and "gateway drug" brainwashed many into believing "if its a drug its bad". I wish that more educational material would come out to the general public and explain in "simple terms" why medical marijuana is a necessity."
"marijuana is alot safer that alcohol . you mite get sick if it is strong but you do know your name . as with alcohol you can get in a wreck and you dont know if the person you hit is dead or alive and you dont care and you cant even call for help"
"I am working with one of my friends who has stage four ovarian cancer. She is the first person I have coached through in taking the RSO. She's was in pretty bad condition and I was pretty sure we were going to lose her. I started her on the oil a month ago and her tumor markers have been progressively going down and the color of her skin is coming back. She looks and feels better. We both can't believe it and are feeling very grateful. She has not told her doctor for fear of not being treated by them. Shame on our medical establishment. I also have used cannabis to get off the opiates prescribed to me after my hysterectomy. What a difference! When I was on the pharmaceutical prescribed pain killers, I did too much and it set me back a few weeks. It masked the pain too well. The cannabis allowed me to feel less pain yet know when to sit down and rest. I was pretty depressed at the time and it helped tremendously to lighten my mood. It's non toxic to the body, and since we have receptors in our body, it takes it in like food. I am thankful I live in Colorado where I can obtain it easily. We need to all be pro active in getting this legal all across America."
"I think that it is a disgrace that we continue to treat marijuana the same as heron and dangerous substances. As a country we do this while allowing very dangerous and addictive drugs to be produced and filter into our communities. Alcohol and tobacco are good examples, not to mention the pain killer epidemic that is currently ruining many lives. I think a person should have a choice in how they are treated and with what substances. Marijuana would be the choice of many if available, instead of the chemicals that are being created and handed out."
"I'm 58 and began using medical cannabis last year for arthritis pain in my knees and neck. Within weeks I weaned off opiates and haven't touched them in 8 months. I've also been treated for depression with Cymbalta for over 6 years...don't need it any more. My depression is completely gone. Yes...cannabis is a miracle drug and has changed my life significantly. I now have a pain free, joyful life and each day is a new adventure. Sure hope I don't get caught since it's completely illegal in my state. Now THAT'S the real crime."
"Yes, because marijuana is very helpful why not marijuana be legalized."
"It should not be used for recreational use, but it should be a medical option if absolutely necessary."
"Yes it should cuz it helps most people with a sickness"
"Well, as far as marijuana goes, it may work with medicine. After all, Alternatives have succeeded where traditional medicine has failed. It is still in its infancy, and has shown to be potentially good for society. After all, the FDA only protects pharmacy profits, not the society. Unfortunately, rehabs centers are privatized and probably traded on the NY Stock Exchange. Think about it. They always push medication, and not try to do things the right way. People suffer side effects such as neurological, cognative, speech impediments due to hearing loss, and the worst, have to take ADDITIONAL MEDICATION, because of the side effects of the previous ones. It is sad. If marijuana is used in oil and edible form, being legalized, it just might work for people, and people might actually get better. It is worth a try, right? And this is from a NEUTRAL stand point, so it could be something people may agree with. After all, you can get addicted to ANYTHING. The real question is, as far as addiction, do people have a physical addiction, or a psychological dependence on it. Which is worse, right? But again, that can be to ANYTHING. Peace out."
"i think just like any other drug it can be addicting but its up to you to control it not to let it control you"
"It would Benefit me! I I have so many medical problems, I take so many meds. and counts and it's killing me."
"We are pro YES for legalize Medical Cannabis all over the country. We believe we all should also be allowed to grow at least 5 plants if we are patience or caregivers. We can testify that we have had awesome results with edibles and oils of cannabis due to medical problems with out the side affects from from prescription drugs. Stop the BS! Cannabis has been researched in Israel with U S funding. And Cannabis got a thumbs up/"
"Of course, cannabis IS a medicine, and should be the people's option."
"has been used for centuries , is safer and as effective as pharmaceuticals, with less side effects."
"I had aids for a long time now and smoking marijuana has really helped me feel better... Thank you god for making this plant!! We all could use it."
"Shout out to my boy The high life. weed is a privilage to have and i have aids which it helps out a lot. this world needs more love and peace and it is here for a reason. Marijuana is not dangerous. our lord and savior put it here for a reason."
"Thanks man and i hope that you get better soon. Good luck and take care!!"
"Actually marijuana should be a medical option, it is a useful medicine for nausea, rheumatism, labor pains, muscle spasms and cancer. As of me I have muscle spasms regularly that's why I should always turn to www.420evaluationsonline.com I got the card here and efficient consultation. The guys are responsible for their service."
"Please consider the facts, such as the Anglo-Indian Hemp Report of 1894, which must have been known to Harry Anslinger, who disregarded the findings of the finest British and Indian physicians of the day.And there were more reports that Mr. Anslinger had to know about if he was performing his job.I don't know why the US government insists upon refusing to recognize an ages old medicinal plant, used continuously for over 4 thousand years, as medicine, but the decision is NOT based on facts and experience."
"No body died from this that"s what makes it good the drugs and all that stuff my gramma warned me about that stuff and she said medical marijuana is okay to use for pain."
"Im pro to this only because I have a mother-in-Law who broke her back working in the field of taking care of people and now She and I smoke it almost every day and we can move and do the things that wont use to do. I started smoking because for one it helped me get those class because when i was high i didnt all of my work and plus it helps me with pain and stress and to talk to people which im every thankful for. So yes Im every PRO for this."
"Here's the thing. Only in the last 50 years has marijuana been vilified, and told that it has "no accepted medical value". However, that's going against 5,000+ years of recorded history, in which this PLANT has been used medicinally. You have numerous cultures, both modern and ancient, that realize the value of marijuana for medicinal reasons. Who are we to all of a sudden argue with recorded history? Who are we to decide that this all of a sudden has "no" value, when a vast swath of recorded history says otherwise? Shame on us thinking we're "superior" to history."
"I have seen first hand the benefits of medical cannabis. My wife suffers from a degenerative spinal condition which has her in much pain and discomfort. The strong and addictive medications her doctor perscribed for her had scary negative side effects. After trying cannabis for her condition, she is able to function much better, live nearly pain free and enjoy her life much more than before. While not a cure for her condition, it has helped in ways pharmaceuticals have not"
"Since I have cancer, I definitely need this. I chat with people all over the world that are successfully treating their cancers. Many terminal cases are now fully cured. Those who are opposed base their opinions of inuendo, half truths and out right lies."
"Pain medications have so many severe side effects, excess cost. It's a caring helpful thing to help people in need of crippling pain relief. Get the politics and money greed out of the decision."
"My husband passed away in 2002 from cancer. He would not take any pain killers. He smoked marijuana for his symptoms. He passed on very peacefully. Marijuana was the only thing that kept him comfortable."
"My son now 20 has tried every drug, been to mayo clinic, did diet and has no other options. He has grand mal seizures weekly and nobody can help. Please legalize medical cannabis for epilepsy in Missouri or Kansas."
"I have suffered from migraines for over ten years. As many migraine sufferers I have not been able to pinpoint the cause. It is a debilitating affliction and like many I live in fear of the next attack. I have been prescribed Imitrex and due to side affects am limited to its use. If the imitrex does not work the only other option I have is to take pain pills and hope I can sleep it off. On a visit to the Northwest I was stricken with an attack. As the medication wore off and migraine returned I was limited on what to do. I was offered marijuana (it is legal) and decided to try it. To my surprise it had a positive affect and I was able to enjoy the rest of my trip. I have used it as a back up since that time and have had about a 70% success rate. Although it is not a cure it does have a positive affect with limited side effects. A little laughter sure beats lying in bead with a knife in my head"
"It can Help with the symptoms of cancer"
"cannabis is a miracle plant in all respect. my friend told me to google kushstormcannabis and order from them directly. i did and got some top quality marijuana which worked magic for my chronic pain. i think its useful for medicinal use. But i don't encourage its consumption by kids"
"marijuana is fast growing and has many uses such as, paper (it makes 4x the pulp of trees), it can be used as fuel, and also plastic. It helps with anxiety and depression and has been used for centuries. There's no reason it should be illegal. It is a plant for gods sake. It is more useful in its natural state than tobacco and alcohol will ever be,"
"It is not about whether cannabis is good or bad medicinally or recreationally. The issue is that no government entity should have the powerful authority to rule prohibition of any substance personally used by an adult in the U.S. I believe that cannabis has proven to be a valuable medication for more than 6,000 years."
"I believe that it should be if its going to be a medical marijuana and that it should make people"
"marijuana is not a gateway drug I have never smoked and thought hey let's go to meth!! it will be on the polls again in this time I guarantee it will pass we have legalized alcohol and it kills people I have never heard of marijuana killing someoneso I don't understand why we shouldn't. and it also helps with ADD it slows the mind down you can actually think.you just like ADD medicine would."
"Cannabis is non-addictive. What people are considering addiction is the dependence they have on the relief that cannabis brings them. There is no direct chemical dependence associated with cannabis.Prohibition is the main issue at hand. Prohibition brings money into the equation and money means contamination. Massive contamination, in the case of cannabis. Health issues? No, we have contamination issues related to cannabis, not health issues. You can track every health issue related to cannabis back to contaminates and prohibition. Prohibition has bred the CBD out of cannabis and made it rather easy to have a manic episode, the same as with marinol use. High CBD cannabis actually improves memory, motor skills, mood control, focus, attention span, pain tolerance and so much more.Educate yourself fully regarding cannabis and you always vote in favor of lowering restrictions on it. The more you know, the fewer restrictions you believe it should have.Educate yourself and help educate your neighbors! :)"
"I have degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis in my feet, bone loss in my jaw, and muscle spasms along my spine. I need something for pain. I've under gone through a discectomy, two total knee replacements, epidural-cortisone treatments, nerve blocks in my neck from several bone spurs, two torn rotor cuffs. I am allergic to asetominaphin, tramedol, mobic and a few others. Maybe my body is just telling me I need something natural, instead of synthetic drugs. I'm all for medical marijuana."
"Some people probably focus alot better when they are high. Some people come up with creative ways & idea. My thing is, the cons that are involved with marijuana are not major. If marijuana leads to other illegal drugs, Do you ever think that cigarettes may lead to marijuana ?Why are cigarettes legal, If they give you cancer & y'all are working so hard to put a stop to cigarettes ? MARIJUANA IS NOT CRACK !! Its not even that bad . If DC and California can legalize marijuana , and nothing bad has yet to happen , whats the problem. In order for some of us people to stop marijuana , we need a legit reason to stop. So far as im concerned, i can walk in a straight line while high. At the end of the day, id rather do marijuana than other drugs, cigarettes, alcohol ect."
"I live in Washington and I go to school in Colorado. In both those states, medical and recreational marijuana use is legal and prevalent. Yet, I haven't seen the massive loss of common sense that some parties predicted before 2012's I-502. The black market for marijuana is down a large amount, crime rates are dropping. The federal government should drop the pretense that marijuana use is dangerous and should look to the precedents set by Washington and Jefferson, who grew cannabis on their property while leading our amazing country."
"It definitely should be allowed."
"Has killed NO ONE"
"Most people on the CON side of this agree that it should not be legalized for medical purposes because it's a "gateway drug"The funny thing is that people who smoke marijuana don't even get into smoking marijuana."
"To all the people writing writing cons, how many of them are certified doctors with degrees? Probably none of them. Of all the doctors that have prescribed marijuana, how many of them have doctor degrees? Every single one of them."
"Buying cigarettes at a gas station can lead to other drugs as well but those people have a strain"
"Unfortunately, with people using the "abuse" arguments, is that they don't realize that people don't police themselves saying "I know I have an addictive personality", or "I am the person who has that kind of thing", and not know when to say "enough", or "no." Once that part is resolved, people can throw away the addiction argument. First, people have to police themselves and tell themselves when enough is enough. We don't need the federal government to be mom and dad, disciplining us. We have to be able to say no when it is right. If people learn to police themselves, then there will be less addicts out there, but marijuana could be beneficial to people with certain ailments. After all, before modern medicine was imposed on us, people used other forms of medicine, and there was never a story of addiction, or problems. Now, the federal government stepped in, and did their bull****, and look what has happened. Western medicine has made some generation of addicts and people who are basically messed up, because of both the FDA, and the other things in our lives. Traditional medicine has failed on many levels, but what can you do, right? Hopefully things will change one day. Boo me if you want, but you know I am right. Peace out."
"Yes cannabis is medicine. In the studies that have been published, positive effects have been noted. The side effects from cannabis are less than that of many other medicines already approved by the FDA. One can listen to television commercials any day of the week, and see pleasant scenery and nice music while terrible side effects of new pharmaceutical drugs are read off in a long list. Cannabis is a safe and effective alternative medication especially in terms of providing some pain relief, in terms of reducing anxiety, and reducing depression among others."
"Marijuana should be legal because it helps with diseases. God put this lovely plant on earth for a reason. It can save so many people, if we just make it legal."
"i agree my brotha. its such a lovely plant to this world. i have aids and it helps with many of the symptoms. we have this plant because our lord and savior put it on earth to protect us. much love to u and marijuana :)"
"I am 16 years old and have been using cannabis for over 2 years now. I was diagnosed with panic disorder at 12. I was put on Xanax at 14, and not even 3 months after being prescribed, i tried to commit suicide. In an attempt to rebel against my parents, i began to expirement with cannabis. Not only did this help cure my benzodiazepine addiction, It had almost eradicated my panic attacks. It really ticks me off when people say "cannabis isn't for you." Granted, cannabis is not for everyone, but who are you to say it's not for me?"
"Hello Everyone,This is a great miracle that has just happened in my family and i can't keep this testimony to myself, my name is Alan Davidson, The stage IV breast cancer and MS my wife has been suffering and struggling with for years has just been cured with the cannabis oil gotten from Dr. Henry Zimmerman , cannabis oil is great medication. To hell with the government and their insane policy, we have a medication that is more than one hundred percent assured to not just cure cancer but also you don't need to spend so much money on anymore on chemotherapy, radiation or lots of surgeries that wouldn’t work. Where to purchase, contact via: ([email protected][email protected]Thank you."
"marijuana has been proven time and time again to help with so many things these people that think that it kills people should be more educated on the subject because to this date it has never killed anyone... ever yet it has saved many lives so before we say its bad really learn the facts first because im sick of all the false allegations marijuana gets"
"no side effects like current meds used for pain."
"it's good for nausea, Pain, Stress, and not as lethal as Alcohol and Pills. Do you really know when it became illegal and why, this is a natural grown herb.. No Chemicals, Look at the statics and see. How many people are killed and fights and car crashes, from marijuana will make it legal just like everything else. I suffer from Pancreatitis and I can eat and not throw it up. Takes the nausea away. and the pain."
"Yes, yes, yes!! i suffer from depression and i would love to get my hands on the marijuana powder you turn into a milk shake or smoothie, ingest it that way and, hey presto, this could be my magic wand. i understand marijuana and cannabis are the same things. not sure what hemp is.YOURS FAITHFULLY, DESMOND, THU-OCT-22-2015."
"YES! Please Legalize Marijuana! In My work as Law enforcement, also as a Vietnam Veteran. I Never saw anyone do the crazy things that I saw when someone was on alcohol!!!, Also having a Chronic case of Degenerative Spinal Disease Marijuana would help with the many Pains that I endure! Also Glaucoma! and many other Disease'!"
"Pro I've had many members in my family died of cancer with all the pain that I believe marijuana could have help them. Now it's my turn."
"I'm definitely for medical cannabis.I spent 10 years of my life on narcotics of the worst kind until I used cannabis and now thanks to cannabis I no longer use the narcotics as of 18 months ago.I feel much better,my pain is under control and much happier. The only down side is cannabis is illegal in TN.Come on TN lets take care of our people and get a cannabis law."
"Its time to put down the antiqued belief system concerning the killer weed. And move forward toward a more intelligent solution than locking up our sons and daughters for it, along with supporting the Cartel Nation."
"As an individual who has used marijuana in the past but no longer does due to family responsibilities and the threat of imprisonment, I can say that when I used marijuana it stabilized my seizure disorder and help relieve the chronic pain I live with. I shattered my spine in an automobile accident which lead to a spinal fusion and subsequent seizure disorder. Knowing my family history of dependency I refused prescription narcotic pain relievers out of the fear I would end up like other family members dependent on them and abusing them by taking more than prescribed therefor I would occasionally consume marijuana when away from my children to control the pain. I have also found that in the times I was under the influence of marijuana I did not have nearly as many seizures; whereas, without marijuana I have up to ten seizures daily which medication has little control over."
"I have no idea, why this is even up for debate. Doctors prescribe narcotics for pain, that can become addictive, but they are worried about marijuana. In my 20s, I smoked marijuana every day. I worked, raised a son and finally just decided that I didn't want to smoke anymore. I don't believe marijuana is addictive at all and I don't think it leads to taking other drugs."
"100% yes. Think medical marijuana will ease pain more than meds I am taking: Percocet,SOMA,Valium, Tylenol during the day with Val or SOMA"
"I am pro because it helps children and adults with devastating illnesses without horrific side affects. There is enough proof of some experiencing a better quality of life to justify legalizing it. Not to do so is, in my opinion, out of ignorance, greed, or lack of control over ones children. Why punish those that benefit medically from it. That is cruel!!!"
"I know first hand the benefits of THC for Pain, Gastro. issues and arthritis. Also way less side effects of the pharmaceutical drugs that the V.A. prescribe me."
"I suffer from Chronic pain in my back, I know that Cannabis helps a great deal. I wake up in a huge amount of pain, nausea from the pain & I must lay there for my meds,(painkillers & a relaxer) to kick in before I can move. Now,I take a couple puffs on cannabis, & I'm good to go in 10 min. I don't get ridiculously high, there's no point, I'd rather smoke a little cannabis, then suffer because my meds are addictive, & they don't clear the pain completely. In conclusion, Cannabis Vs yet another addictive pill? I'll go with cannabis & a couple pill to take care of breakthrough pain, & I'm good... I was even able to stop morphine because of cannabis! If only NEVADA would get with the program, & the rest of the country...people that are hurt or suffering or need some stress relief, it helps them a great deal...I'd say that's a good thing!! And no, it's not a gateway drug!! If you have half a brain & decent will power! Anyone that moves up the chain from that, they made their choice all on their own, with their big girl/boy pants on!! We know how it works, side effects, etc for over 30 - 40 years now! It's safer alternative than alcohol & more effective. This is my OPINION ONLY, If anyone reads this, & they learn something great!"
"Pot is not a medical substance its a freaking plant that has been proven to help with lots of things. i shouldnt have to explain myself. it shouldnt be the goverments desision to legalize a plant. you cant get addicted to it so wth people. this world would be so much better with weed."
"With all the states legalizing marijuana what is taking Texas so long."
"Actually, according to the news, Arizona was the one state that was against legalizing it."
"Medicinal marijuana is beneficial in small doses, and although can be misused, offers less hurtful side effects."
"its can help alot of people out and by their choise"
"I vote yes on legalizing"
"i agree that medical marijuana should be legalized in all states it helps people with terrible migraines, cancer, anti depressants, and so one it is better for your body then pain killers it has less side effects and it can be used for yoga classes by the oils it may be the next upside in medical history its making the companies a million."
"I think it is good. It can help tons of diseases."
"Absolutely, unequivocally YES! For the record, I am a 62 yr old RN and have never tried cannabis in any form but the science is valid. It should be totally deregulated now and also decriminalized."
"Marijuana is really good for you!!!"
"I say yes because it can ease cancer pain. My grandma died 2 years ago because of cancer. If marijuana was legalized then my grandma's pain would have been eased."
"Ok i believe all states should have medical marijuana im 30 yr old have four bad disc's and a pinched nerve on my lower spine and PTSD from a bad child hood plus bipolar i wont lie i have tryed it in the past and my pain and everything went away and my mood was better my wife was glad. But i am an adult and when i did smoke it that time my kids were asleep and it just really help me sleep i aint a parent that if it went legal i would smoke around my kids i wouldnt i hate cigs anyway so they would never know ya know i just think people like me and others should have to right to have so peace or should i say relief from pain without using pills in which i dont like i take medicine and if i had marijuana i wouldnt be on this crap that makes me fell worse"
"I'm a disabled vet from Viet-nam I was exposed to Agent Orange while in country, and my health is deteriorating. Cannabis helps relieve the constant pain I have, AO is a nerve agent that significantly reduces my muscles to work. This medicine should be reclassified to a class 11 substance, so that myself and many others can get relief,Thank you."
"I had cancer and i smoked marijuana through treatment. It helped me more than all my doctor prescribed meds combined! I think its a crime that people cant have access to something so useful and helpful. I would go almost 5 days without eating sometimes before i used cannabis because i was so sick and would throw up everything i ate. Marijuana saved me from having to get a feeding tube, it allowed me to eat and feel normal. It made me feel free of the hell that is cancer and yet still people are against it. I have nothing against people having opinions, but shouldn't our biggest focus be to help people? Peace ."
"Cannabis or marijuana, should be left to the people and the medical professionals since it is medicine and has been for nearly 5000 years. Read a little history...."
"It was then President Nixon who sealed the deal on the criminalization of marijuana. Given the dishonesty that was Nixon what does that tell you about his judgement. In my opinion it is time to come out of the stone age and do what is right for all of the people who suffer from chronic pain and other severe ailments. ."
"I am pro for medical marijuana because, it can help in very many ways. Some people are having constant seizures and do not even know their own family brother son etc. Medical marijuana can stop that though and it can stop epilepsy there are 1,000 of reasons why it should be legal. It can destroy cancer cells and no one likes cancer and everyone wants it to be gone out of this world right? So why not legalize the alternative to the cure marijuana even if it wont completely cure it, it will stop it destroy the cells or slow it down. There are endless possibilities why it should be legal. It should not be legal for recreational use though. People may say they are in pain and need the marijuana but the doctors need to do research before they do that. They shouldn't just prescribe to anyone that says there in pain because then that would practically be making it legal for recreational use and, that's not why it needs to be legal it needs to be legal for medical purposes only and get rid of cancer, epilepsy, seizures if it can do all this stuff why wont the government make it legal I all states. No one knows but them and they need to make it legal really fast and quick before its to late and a lot of people start having cancer, seizure."
"Anxiety, PTSD need I say more? Insurance is cutting rx of benzos monthly so..."
"safe and effective for my spinal cord injury induced spasms and pain"
"I have a chronic pain condition that prohibits surgery. I am taking opiods and methadone for releif. I get much more relief from medical marijuana."
"Yeah totally we should make Mary Jane legal for medicinal purposes. That would be psychedelic for sure. When medical pot becomes legal in my state, I'm gonna get soo baked outta my mind like each and every day. I'm gonna be so stoned. Like all day every day! So everybody let's raise a bong for legal Mary jane! Stoner out, peace"
"Yes it should absolutely be available to all or any of us suffering from chronic pain. I think the large Pharms are probably standing in the way because this plant can actually "heal." I am 64 & was diagnosed 30 years ago. I have moderate to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. My hands are crippled, my knees swell, my back constantly aches. I have been on any & all so-called medications to help with the symptoms of this disease. They have just about killed me. My lungs are damaged, my hair falls out, I am nauseous all day, I'm so fatigued I can hardly move. Nothing the medical world has given me has helped. It is my Gid given right to seek help on my own. I would like to try medical marijuana & my Dr. Had the nerve to say, " your pain should not be that bad. If it is we just haven't found the right medication for you." Are you kidding me? 30 years or close to half of my entire life I have been in moderate to excruciating pain! 30 Years! This is a plant. I should be able to buy it like any other plant. I am a vegetarian & want to add this to many other vegetables that I eat for health reasons. For vitamins, antioxidants to name a few. The government should not be able to stop me from buying a vegetable to eat/drink."
"im pro because I smoke pot"
"I am suffering stage 4 ovarian cancer. The tumors in my bowels have made prescription painkillers impossible. The constipation they cause has caused impactions, and hospital stays. The next step will be a colostomy bag. I cant use street marjuana due to the chemicals placed on it. My cancer has caused serios chemical allergies. Clean medical grade would be of great help to my pain, but alas the state of Penn. has no access to it."
"I think it should be legal for severe medical injuries only because it alleviates pain better than most other things"
"Yes! Was against it but a friend with cannabis oil freed me of pain for almost 24 hours. I take opiates for chronic pain. On that day, I needed none of my 90/60/90 mg dose until 5pm for withdrawal symptoms only! It is tragic that our government has hidden this wonder drug and the effects on the severely ill. This man was cured of stage IV cancer of the lung due to the oil. So I tried it & it allowed me to reduce my dose to one 30mg MS Contin for the day!"
"Yes it should and doctors should say who gets it to uses"
"I think that Marijuana is the best and cheap medicine for some uncureable deaseses. It should help more ill people."
"People with health issues should be able to benefit from its use"
"I make a salve that help with muscle spasms and back pain. I rub the salve on the affected area and it helps relieve pain, plane and simple. It is also great for arthritis or dental pain with no funky side effects. No constipation, no addiction, and I don't get stoned. I think alcohol is more of a gateway drug than marijuana, it's just more socially acceptable."
"Marijuana is a very useful tool in relieving stress, pain & the daily rat race that the American government has put us in! We the people no longer have control of our country! The preamble says we the people. It really should read, "this is how it is going to be"! Because we the government said so! So what is next! You are now (75) years old & you are no longer allowed to live any longer, & we the government say you are to be removed from society! You are to be executed tomorrow! We the people need to rule our country & our lives! Vote to legalize marijuana! Help us help ourselves!"
"The components of marijuana, Tetrahydrocannabinol, Dronabinol and nabilone have been proven to be effective to treat symptoms of diseases like multiple sclerosis, cancer, AIDS, and epilepsy. They also help patients that are undergoing chemotherapy and decrease the side effects of nausea and vomiting. The legalization in 23 States including the State of Columbia show the attitude towards the use of medical marijuana and also the potential to develop remedies that can be helpful to treat severe illnesses."
"it could help cure people who do not eat alot and allow them to start to eat normaly"
"As someone who suffers from a chronic painful disease, and has no relief from the ultimately toxic FDA approved drugs, I am strongly for legalization. The drugs I take cause liver and kidney disease and failure over time, because of this I have to see multiple doctors and have multiple test just to check the health of these organs--all because of FDA approved drugs. As for the concern of getting others high with your prescription, many strains are used for edibles, not smoking and do not produce the "high" of street drugs. They are designed for pain relief as well as relieving symptoms of many other illnesses. There are many resources and studies done that prove the effectiveness of marijuana. I also know folks who have access to medical marijuana and one person in particular has amazing relief for her bipolar disorder (lives in CO.) and no longer needs the toxic FDA approved meds which have worse side effects than the marijuana. My hope is that it will be ultimately approved at least as a medicine nationwide. What many don't understand is with chronic pain many are put on opioids which by the way are very addictive and expensive. Side effects are horrible and require more drugs to relieve side effects-a vicious cycle."
"I think Marijuana should be legal weather it be Medical or Recreation, look at all the Drug addicts on all the pain killers, Alcohol does more damage than Marijuana, No one has every died or killed anyone using Marijuana."
"Cheaper, safer, better option vs pharmaceuticals for patients suffering with MANY illnesses. Marijuana is not the gate way drug, pharmaceuticals is.The only patients that die from marijuana are those with a sever allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)."
"I am for it I have M S I am in so much pain today if it would help than yes"
"The pain medications that Iam on cause severe constipation, bruised skin, depression , loss of libido, feeling warmth (hot flashes, I am male ) and many more.I've had bleeding lesions in my digestive system. Too many DANGEROUS, Life threatening side effects from NSAIDS, Check it out !"
"I am Pro. I have pernicious anemia which caused spinal and nerve damage. I can not walk very far without loosing the feeling in my legs. I am in constant pain caused by the nerve damage. My doctor would recommend marijuana if it were legal in the stat of Texas"
"Medical marijuana is good despite what other people say it could help for a lot of medical reasons such as severe headaches, cancer, and can help cure epilepsy and seizures."
"I am all for medical Marijuana. I have been in the medical field for over 20 years and have NEVER seen a patient get cancer from smoking marijuana. 90% of my patients smoke it whether legal or not. It's way cheaper and less harmful than all the pills the pharmacies distributeIt is best way to help anxiety. We have to quit thinking old and get on board open our minds and accept the change for the better."
"pro, because I was a sceptic proven wrong. I had to prove theeffective pain killing effects and did!"
"yes it fights cancer and helps bowel diseases and helps anxiety+"
"I used to wake up in pain due to breaking my back, they prescribed me strong pain killers, I was supposed to take 2 at a time but then it got to the point where I had to start taking 3 or 4 and somedays it didn't even help, I was always throwing up I was depending on something that would only help me on a good day, my body grew a tolerance. I'm only 18 years old and I have never been so depressed in my life at that point in time, I laid in bed, I got sick all of the time, I lost friends and I didn't want to be here anymore as soon as I found out about medical cannabis I wanted to give it a try, the first time I tried it I was so relieved, my back didn't hurt and it got better and better each day, I finally got the spirit to get up and go back to physical therapy, I believe that medical cannabis saved my life, I am back to myself! Please legalize, everyone needs to know what amazing things this plant can do. Also, if you have never tried it please don't judge it."
"I I am with the majority of you. Suffering is no joke. I have attempted suicide numerous times while in pain! I don't want to die. Although I do want to kill the pain. My way of killing the pain is through Marijuana. Every time that I have told the truth to the doctors to let them know what works and what doesn't for my body I was given the boot. No one no doctor wants to work with a person who is using cannabis even though it is for a medical reason. Sorry to say I really don't care how other people use it, as long as it's healthy. And from what I have gone through I laugh at the commercials when they tell the risk of taking their medicine. It is comical that they would tell us how harmful it is, but not listen to how important cannabis is in more in over the World. I will no longer hide behind a wall, my home, my face, nor my name, to hide that I am in need this medication, or I surely will die!! Thank you for listening!!!"
"I strongly believe it should be a medical option. The medical properties in the plant can help with many conditions some of which we have no cure for . Yes it can be a gateway drug but only if you abuse it and use it beyond the necessary need but that is like every drug such as Vicodin or OxyContin ect. I read one of the cons being that marijuana caused their kid to go in a path that killed him but was he using it medicinally or as a drug any perscription drug is dangerous if you use it excessively. If you're against marijuana just because of the gateway factor think any drug is a gateway drug really. Medical marijuana isn't just used to smoke you can create healing sav the targets back, knee, join pain ect. A lot of people are focusing on the few negative factors of it and that's why they're against it but they are so many positive ones. Pictures this a girl as sleep anosmnia no sleep medications are working so she starts using medical marijuana and she gets 7 hours of sleep witch may not seem like much except the most sleep she has gotten in one night I'm 3 months is 4 hours ,now it seems like a medicine, now it seems good."
"I have PTSD from childhood and it helps majorly. I have almost constant anxiety and it calms me down."
"yes they should. Because it helps the person who wants it. and it makes the pain go away."
"i am for it because it helps the patient.it helps calm your mind.it helps take away stress."
"I think that this is good because it has helped a lot of people. Medical marijuana saved a lot of peoples lives for a long time. There would be a lot of deaths if medical marijuana."
"The use of Marijuana. I have 16 screws 12 pins & 3 braces in my spine! WHY can't I use Medical Marijuana to ease the pain instead of; Gabapentin (3) X daily, Tramadol (1) X daily & NORCO (4) X daily! 22 years military & 16 years DAI! Can anyone HELP!"
"It is a medicinal plant, that is not life-threatening when used with care. Much more dangerous drugs are legal. I've used it personally for pain relief while residing in CO, and found it also alleviated my depression & anxiety."
"I'm all for the use for legalizing medical marijuana, but we've all got to understand the true reasoning to why we all want to legalize it. I've seen some "Pro" comments in this thread, and I am honestly distraught by people's thoughts, saying they want to legalize it not for medical purposes, but because it's "fun" to be under the influence. It's "fun" to be high. Medical marijuana shouldn't be used for that. It should be used for people with serious illnesses and diseases, not for personal pleasure. Hopefully people think this way."
"After my surgery I was told that I was the ninth person in the whole history of Uracheal tumors that mine wasn't cancerous. I didn't recieve chemo because ther is no chemo for this kind of particular Cancer. My only medicine I took was cannabis oil. I'm pretty sure it saved my life. Now I work with people and cannabis and it's clear that it saves people's lives. The people who are against it are politions, pharmacutical companies and law enforcement. The people who are pro are people who have recieved therapeutic effects from this plant. I say it's time to legalize so we can study it and bring down the cancer rate that is now one in three people."
"Cannabis is the best natural therapeutic medicinal plant known to man and it's our right to possess and grow it, or obtain it from a dispensary, yes."
"An estimated 1,685,210 People will get diagnosed with cancer in the united states in 2016, Nearly 595,690 Will Die.Lets Change that."
"I think marijuana should be legalized on both parts recreational and medical. say if you had a child and they were using more addictive drug that screw up his mind set id say that you would rather have him or her on a natural drug that's not even addictive and helps him focus in school it would be better to have it legalized because it also helps out with cancer and a.d.h.d. then when your on pills or chemotherapy for people that are sick helps them eat and helps them sleep. I vote yes and I hope some of you think the same"
"Yes, Yes, Yes... It's less stress on the body and mind. You can do it as needed and it's natural. It's not just the pain or physical issue, it's the stress that goes along with the pain. When medical cannabis can create pain free days, it also relaxes the mind to focus on the physical issues and really heals you.Yes, Yes, Yes"
"I suffer from fibromyalgia and a laundry list of associated ailments that have been proven to help in reducing pain or lowering the dosage or ending the need for the use of narcotic medications."
"Give me the choice to make my own mistake. Instead of buying unsafe drugs from dealer with bad intentions."
"I,m 65yrs old an have smoked quite a bit never wanted anything stronger,it seemed to pinpoint where I needed it .my body is bent an filled with arthritis,an now have onset of parkinsons.i see no harm in this wonderful plant thanks."
"Its just practical. Grows naturally, many studies show it helps anything from parkinsons, diabetes.cancer, cataracts, anepilipsy. The other states that have legalized have proof of reduced hard core drug use and less illegal drug crimes"
"Medical marijuana is to be used as medical reasons , if you don't have anybody you love that has depression or in pain due to cancer then don't say marijuana is bad for you, cause it keeps tears out of their face and pain from them."
"I have pinched nerves from spine disease. Surgery has helped but I still have pain and muscle spasms. I would like to try something besides alcohol and opiods along with the anti-inflammatory medicine I currently take"
"Yes I am on morphine Not by choice If this herb can relive my pain bring it on Has to be better than morphine which is taking a toll on my body Please Ohio get off the POT!!!!!!!"
"I am Pro because for the last 3 years I have suffered w/knee and back pain. I have heard that the pain meds have negative consequences but I won't go that far. Consequently I suffer daily. Not standing for more than 10 min has me quite close to my bed and I need relief!"
"The medical use of Marijuana for pain is better than drugs with bad side effects. Marijuana is a natural plant."
"My son has autism, severe autism and has been on every FDA regulated medicine that has messed him up so much more than he already was, all u hypocrites u have no idea what a life like this is and if liquid medical marijuana helps him u better believe I will use it, I watch him him himself daily leaving bruises all over from hitting and biting himself and then attacking me on a daily basis, if marijuana stops that and whatever pain he has u damn well better believe I will use it, what its gonna be worse than psychotic meds they give him, he's either a zombie or out of control taking those and we have tried them all, u people r just scared of finding something that works, yet drinking is fine, u ban one u should ban all, make alcohol illegal but noooo can't do that one can u, it kills brain cells and people every single day way more than marijuana ever has, compare them then tell me I am wrong cause I am not marijuana should be legal in all states to anyone who wants to use it for pain or anything else, so what they like how it feels so do people who drink, how's it any different I say ban one ban all"
"My dad was recently diagnosed with alzheimer's. He's 84 and in excellent physical health and a widower. For the past couple of years, he struggled with words as we all do then two months ago, he essentially fell off a cliff in one week so no, this was not a gradual, get used to it, progression. This was sudden and shocking. Two years ago, there was an article in Huffington Post "Low Doses Of Marijuana Compound Could Slow Or Stop Progression Of Alzheimer's". Four days ago another article, "Marijuana Compound Removes Alzheimer's-Related Protein From Nerve Cells" discussed findings from a new study. I challenge anyone who is against medical marijuana to say 'no' to me personally as an individual and not hide behind an excuse or a group. Pretend you live in a rural area with limited or no resources. Imagine what its going to be like when you have to change your dad's diaper, or call the sherrif to locate him through his ankle tracker. I don't know your dad and maybe you don't deem him worthy but my dad is and you don't have the right to deny him life."
"I am tired of being broke due to the 19 scripts I take and the thousand dollars monthly for Obama care!. And all the horrible side effects. I'm waiting for them to kill me. I'd like to have the freedom of choice for MY body. So ready for the chance to dump big pharma and use cannabis. I'd be saving thousands dollars, one fix instead of 19. This has to stop, they are robbing me blind, literally."
"My husband has parkinso's desease ad I have to watch him suffer daily from the terrible shaking, then comes the nausia from the prescription medication, it is a horrible circle he must endure every day. If They would pass this bill I believe this would help him, Please WV more people abuse alcohol all over the world and it is leagle"
"Because of the documented benefits and the front row seat I have had to see the benefits and the frustration of patients that struggled with using it because of the illegality of it. Shame on those that take a stance against without putting themselves in the shoes of those it benefits or could benefit."
"I have had two operations in my left knee, one in my right knee, and two in my left shoulder. I also have sever arthritis in both knees and shoulder. Pain is an every day thing and until 2015 I just lived with it. Now I wake up and take Aleve which helps a lot but now I bleed a lot from just a scratch. I have tried marijuana recently and find I sleep great and the pain in my knees are much better. I do not smoke very often only when I really need a good sleep. I am 61 and live in Texas and really believe medical marijuana should be legal."
"My cousin has suffered from severe epilepsy his whole life and over the years he is unable to walk, talk, eat most foods, sleep at night and cant do many other things we take for granted. Starts a trial of Medical Marijuana and sleeps through the whole night with no seizure for the first time in years!!!!!!!!"
"The medical reasons for it clearly outweigh many of the drugs given today for various conditions. Opium based drugs kill and addict, cannabis is the better alternative."
"I thing marijuana use can be good or benefits for us, if it can relief some different symptoms, then we can use it, but we need to be carefully."
"Because there are people that have arthritis and Marijuana can help re leave the pain"
"I have RA and I have the option of taking Medical Marijuana or a life of pain killers. I can take 5 mg. of HHH and go throughout my day without being stoned. What's wrong with that?????"
"Because the united states is supposed to be about freedom. The government took away our rights to a plant that natural grows in our soil and slapped strict laws and restrictions on it. Which has cause the reputation for pot to be demonized and become the blame for society's problems. During that time we have lost out on learning more about a plant that has great potential in helping people who are sick. So much time wasted by not studying it to the fullest. The people who have lost out the most our sick children that might have benefited from this plant if the prohibition of it never occurred. I don't understand why people are still not accepting of this plant."
"Marijuana should be aloud to be medical.Because Marijuana can cure symptoms of cancer,AIDS and all those dangerous things and we don't want that in are world we want to be safe and live normal."
"I have chronic back pain and PTSD"
"because it will cause a boost to the national economy"
"I think it should be used for treating patients ,with eating disorders, eye problems. cancer and for peoples with nervous conditions ,high blood pressure to make them relax."
"There are many medicinal uses for marijuana. It isn't about getting high. Yes, there are sometimes legal drugs that will treat the same conditions but they also carry side effects that make them unsuitable for some people. Legalization just gives doctors one more option to help their patients. It also reduces our dependency on man-made concoctions and gives a more natural approach."
"You don't have to be on the street corner, you can get it delivered or go into a dispensary to buy your product. No worries about the cops, can get it anytime, can see the menu, the prices are mostly the same when compared to their own kind of buds, despite all the fake reviews. You get to meet other weed heads which can lead to a date, unless of course your amongst rockers from west Canada who are not used to you NOT looking or sounding like an immigrant and in fact YOU may respond or regulate which they might not be used to from your kind of people in the west-coast Canada and dispensary are protected by police. may even be an ex-cop as the owner. The doctors are making money, dispensary making money and our province are getting tax dollars that's with the assumption they have all the books."
"completely for it. for starters any studies done on marijuana in the past to prove it kills brain cells, has only been done a small testing group. also that testing group were students with low IQs and/or high school drop outs...aka people who didn't have many brain cells to lose in the first place. these people were doing nothing else to increase brain activity during the day except smoke marijuana, all in all, not a very accurate study. it has been proven to relieve intense pain without the side effects of drugs and reverse the effects of epilepsy. it does more good than harm and it is ridiculous to not take full advantage of it."
"I have found that it helps my arthritis and the stress of living with old injuries. Am 57 yr F. I don't get high as much as it relaxes the stiff sore muscles"
"In my point of view, honestly, I don't know who brought marijuana to America. But hey, we gotta be glad unique has shown up to this nation. If you get my gist. i guess what I'm trying to say is that most of the bad stuffs we use in the U.S, are now being developed into good ways to use it."
"I all for it.weed is awesome."
"what if you only have one month to live? If hey legalize marijuana you could prolong that sickness."
"marijuana is a good way to get things out of your mind such as being depressed or if your recently heart broken, have no friends... i have been smoking marijuana since i was in 5th grade and i was only 10 years old ....marijuana is addictive but it only causes a person to have a huge appetite, and the relaxation if it. From what I see and what has happen to some of my friends is that Marijuana can lead to other death drugs but it ONLY happens to the weak minded people. I to was falling for other drugs such as cocaine but i had realized in the next 2 weeks that what I was doing is No good for me and I'm not getting nothing out of it but loosing money.time.and of course brain cells. I realized that smoking marijuana doesn't make you loose anything because if you can control your high and manage the other things that goes on your life then i say let marijuana open your eyes to the real world...."
"yes it could help a lot of people"
"Yes because it can help people that have cancer get cured faster and people that are really sick can also get cured faster."
"marijuana is not a bad thing they should legalize not tobacco like why band something that actually helps people instead they make something that can give cancer like really your going to band a plant that naturally grows from the ground and is also a medicine. Like who idea was it to make it band in the first place and make tobacco legal like really?"
"I have ALS"
"Yes, it should be available to anyone that just wanted to use it instead of drinking alcohol. We all know that in moderation it is no where close to any kind of damage to your body like we know that alcohol is and now there are medical facts that Pot helps many people with medical problems. In Canada and Europe it is legal, but yet here in our U.S. our politicians are worried that it may cost them so under the table kick back money and continue to sit on their hands instead of passing a Federal Law to make all Marijuana in the U.S. legal. Again it shows just how out of touch and uninterested Congress is in doing what the people that they work for want and demand to be done. I just hope all of the voters will remember and vote them out when their election time comes around."
"I was run over by an SUV 8 years ago and almost killed, I am also a cancer survivor, had several surgeries, chemo 6.5 hours a day that destroyed my body and heart. I have neuropathies, migraines, my MRI report is literally 16 pages long. I have several health issues that ruin my life, chronic pain everyday. I never sleep. It bothers me to complain. Sometimes it just gets really difficult, and I am tired of taking opiate analgesics, but all other options are exhausted. I cannot stand being married to these expensive medications. I also have heart damage which gets a lot worse because my BP goes way up on bad days, and I am at the point where I would try the marijuana, if there is even a chance to help with some of this. My headaches are severe, and I am just in constant pain even with high dose analgesics, I would have to consume it because I cannot smoke, but I read it works that way too. From what I understand it will be legal in my state soon. It seems stupid to me that you cannot buy a plant. Has anyone had experience with marijuana and severe chronic pain? If you have had any success, or negative experiences, I am interested to hear about either. I am only 37, I just want some quality of life back, and live my life. Thank you."
"Yes, it helps with pain but it works differently than other meds. I think it acts on the mind and makes other things more interesting and important, and the pain goes more to the background. My guess but it does work as so many attest."
"Absolutely yes, I have multiple mylenoma, for the last eight years. For the first three years, all my doctor's pushed Opiates. At the end of the third year I was a full blown Heroin addict, buying Heroin off the streets of Portland Oregon. I dropped to less than 130lbs, angry to everyone. I quit that Thanksgiving cold turkey,10 day's of living hell. For the last 5yrs I have only used medical marijuana. I have started chemotherapy last week and have been given percocet and fighting not to take them. One at night helps to sleep. But I'm scared to fall back to bad habit. I have to pay for my marijuana, but I feel more comfortable with it and a lot less stress. No withdrawals????"
"I think it should because when I was young my mom was really sick and the doctors did not know what was wrong, and they tried everything. so they came to the decision to prescribe her medical marijuana and slowly she got better and now she better than before she got sick and she cut her self off once she got better. but if it wasn't for that medical marijuana I would have grown up with out a mother so I do think that it should be legal but watched very carefully because some might not want to cut themselves off and the they would get addicted and that's not gonna help anyone."
"Marijuana:in my opinion is one of the most over criticized herbs in history. Hemp has been a very good product for centuries. Clothing, paper, sails, rope, spice, shelter, medicine, and grows faster than wood, less ecological damage, and you can run your car on the oil. Reefer madness, and not being able to tax something that grows naturally ,is why it was made illegal. I couldn't function today if it wasn't for pot. I would have died four years ago of opiate addiction, on some street corner. Or worse, in jail, like my 25yr old youngest son, with a TBI @16,now heroine addicted, homeless, going schizophrenic from the drugs. Not knowing right from wrong. !!! Garibaldi pothead. Feeling better"
"Its better than heroin... simple..."
"yes it should be in tenn"
"Guns are legal, alcohol and prescription drugs are legal. All of this in some form of fashion have and taking the lives of humans. They all are man made as well. But, marijuana that comes from the earth and can be grown just like any fruit or vegetable is illegal. Makes me question our government and their reason that it is illegal. Maybe because they cannot control it and control the amount is grown by someone at home that will use it for medical purposes."
"I am pro because there is evidence that it could actually cure cancer, but we will never get the proper studies unless it becomes legal. Right now my brother has metastatic liver cancer. He will die in a short time. Shouldn,t it be his decision whether or not he uses it for pain relief and possibly more? I have chronic pain due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. Shouldn't it be my decision if I want to try some oral form to relieve my pain? There is no evidence that it won't work or that it will harm me. That is the problem. It cannot be reasonably studied unless it is made legal for medical use."
"marijuana is ggod for your health it should not be controlled and should be grown like corn, grown everywhere"
"Marijuana should be available to all with severe pain, not limited to only certain medical conditions as States see fit. A lot of synthetic drugs do not work for high numbers of people, why make fake when there are plants. Medicine began with plants, There are other delivery systems than smoking it. What is their alternative? There is none, they are forced to accept Lortab, etc. that do not work for their conditions or are considered refusing to comply with physicians orders. This causes yet another problem for persons with painful conditions. They have to suffer pain constantly, forced into taking an addicting drug just to satisfy their physician, and the State if they have applied for SSD. What kind of country lets their poor go hungry, live in squalid conditions, and forces them to live in physical pain? Our country, the good old USA, who's citizens know that Government does not care nor work in the best interest of "We the people.""
"This is way to long in coming to fruition. I personally was given multiple narcotics for the pain...NOT TREATMENT, just pain. How much of my life cold I have back going thru 24/7 pain maybe cutting my meds in half to lead a better day, week, month and year. I have been to the best clinics for 30 years yet never once was treatment an option for me. So instead, I get treated like a junkie. I would give it all back, I don't even want them, for one day without pain. Society is so quick to judge, label and pt s i one pile. I dare you to walk a day in my shoes. I have never like marijuana when I was young and it was cool. I felt like I was no longer in full control so, obviously I was not a drinker either. Now that the Doctors have put me on Disability, there is no reason for full control but maybe some relief. I should be able to try. I have NO quality of life, like this, so whats the point."
"Medical mj should be illegal TO BE ILLEGAL"
"It's safer than prescription meds"
"To be honest yes i have smoked it one or twice but it was stupid because i used it for no reason just to feel good. marijuana is bad unless any one puts bad stuff in with it. People lace it and put other liquids with the marijuana. You can die from smoking i understand but no one has over dosed on it. i believe is should be legal to have if your at least 21 though."
"My son has ADHD, Bipolar, Disgraphia, Can not deal with crowds of more than 3 to 6 people. He was angry his entire life. They tried medications, they either made him sick, or he slept 20 hours a day, or they made his anger intensify. Learning was a real struggle. I started giving him pot to smoke at 16 and a whole new world emerged for him. he very seldom gets angry, he can think cause it makes things slower so he can focus. he watches UTube and learns all about science, black holes, dwarf stars. And he remembers every single minor detail. He wants to run a forge to make things of Iron. He not only learned how to build one, but how to make the charcoal. and he listens to all kinds of things and he never forgets any of it. He is amazing and all because of the marijuana. It has given my son a life he can understand and learn to cope in. All because of weed that has been used for medical purposes all around the world for many centuries. They never regulate the rest of herbal medicines so why do they have to argue about harmless natural herb. They have no problem giving morphine or any opoid that destroys our bodies and they argue about an herb that heals. It stupid."
"My name is Michael Powers and I live in Indiana...I have PTSD and I have 5 piece's of metal in my Back from a Surgery in 2015.You all should know that my state is not for this type of medical treatment!!I have smoked marijuana since I was a teenager!!That was even before I was told I had PTSD.I feel that Marijuana should be Legal in all 50 states !!Most recently they took my nerve medicine that helps with my condition! The federal goverment said that this medicine and pain medicine was a deadly combination so my Doctor took it away!! That's when I turned back to Marijuana to help with my PTSD.I knew it was wrong because I was in a Pain Management Facility!!But I really didn't care cause the PTSD was kickin my ass at the same time the pain in my back was killen me too!!I got kicked out of the clinic for having Pot in my system!!I think it is so unfair!!Here are all these states with legal medical marijuana and I leave in a state that doesn't.I always thought that it was the united states!!Not State by State!!I would love to see every state in America legalize marijuauna. THANK YOU. Michael s. Powers"
"I say yes because it never hurt anyone smoking marijuana versus smoking cigarettes causing lung cancer. It isn't a drug that will hurt someone internally, more like an herb."
"Marijuana should be legal because it can save lives. If I was sick, marijuana could save me, I would love to have it!"
"Yes I'm 100% for it being a medical option, I'm living proof it cures breast cancer and other cancers, and living proof it helps with pain people should do more research on the Internet to find real truth about it and learn of how many years it's been proven to cure and help it is not a gateway drug"
"I almost feel s if some people are ignorant to the fact that medical marijuana can be ingested without smoke and without the psychoactive high. This makes it safer than an Asprin. Perfect for most people. Or would they prefer we digest prescribed drugs being that they have the highest morbidly and mortality rate? So, what the objection now?"
"Ok, but you see, the thing is that one of the main reasons people want it is for the high. So your point is...?"
"it shall be leagalized bc it helps people"
"I agree with legalizing marijuana because i have a lot of things i use it for. I use it because i am anorexic, i have insomnia, i have major depression, i have a bad cause of anxiety, for pain, etc. Point is marijuana is like any other type of medicine, it helps cure many things! I'm not addicted to it, but i do need it, its a lot better than taking 6 different medications at the same time in my opinion. I rather smoke twice a day (which i don't i smoke once every month- 3 months) than go back to those pills."
"I feel marijuana should be used for medical things only. It should still stay illegal for people that don't need it. So it should be used for cancer and other things it is needed for"
"Paige G, congratulations!!!!You're on your way.Just10 years ago I thought MJ was BADDDDD!!!!Today I just experimented it a couple of times. Smoked it once and ate it once. If I have the right to get as drunk as often as I want, to smoke tobacco as much as I want, (both kill over 100,000/year), why should any idiot have the right to stop me from it?(I don't consider my gov officials very smart.)"
"i disagree with you there people use it for a stimulant for more illegal drug that are more risky on taking would you rather have a country full of natural erbs then a country that's on pills or more addicted drugs take that for an example say your kid if you have any starts doing meth or opiates or any other drug for that matter wouldn't you rather have him on thc then anything else???"
"Marijuana is helpful for pain relief and cancer,However it can make you addictive"
"people are just going to take advantage of it and use it for their own intentions. because if it becomes a medical supply, those that do the drug are just going to go to the hospital to get it for "medical" reasonings so that they can't get in trouble for it."
"There isn't enough research to legalize it everywhere."
"Latest studies indicate there are many health risks. My niece was an addicted pot smoker for over 30 years. She died a week ago of lung cancer at age 55. Never a cigarette smoker. She used medical marijuana following radiation and chemo. Caused severe throat irritation, and upset stomach. It controlled her entire life to the bitter end. Lost her job, friends, family relationships, and became a recluse. It's a drug, not a medicine. How many proponents would be willing to recommend the efficacy of this drug to their children, grandchildren, or any family member?"
"IT causes harm to the body"
"If people don't know, marijuana is a drug. It's a gateway drug to me. If it wasn't a drug. Then why do people abuse it take it more then there supposed to. Marijuana is an addiction. Something that is addicted like marijuana is a drug. People who do it obviously will be against it. But it's just another way to deny it. I am just here to explain my facts. Marijuana for a lot of people make a whole lot of other people want to move on to a harder core drug. It happens it happened to people in my family. It burns your brain cells. Almost every cell in your body. So please tell me how is that good for you. If you didn't know for the people who do it. It makes dysfunctional later in the years. It did to my uncle. Pot should not be used as a medical issue because if it was so good for you. People don't need to keep taking it over and over and over everyday of your life. The way people talk about it makes you all look stupid. I'm sorry I am just stating the facts and this is my opinion. I'm just saying marijuana isn't the best thing for you. It messes with you head, loss of concentration. It happens to a lot of people in this world. Kids are taking it and your brain isn't even fully developed. Just think about what your doing to your body"
"marijuana is not a drug, its a plant. also you cant get addicted to pot because it has no addictive substance. yes it does kill brain cells but very few and it doesnt make you disfunctional later on in life and if that happend to your uncle he was doing something else. you cant overdose from weed and you dont have to take it every day and even if you do its not bad for you its proven to be an effective pain med and it cures epileptic seizures and different kinds of cancer. it also helps with lots of other things. you say your stating the facts but your not."
"I'd also just like to inform you that you'd need to take medical marijuana over and over just like any other prescribed medication."
"Pro for medical use without THC. Con for recreational use because how are they going to protect babies and children from exposure from their parents. And what about pregnant women smoking pot and delivering babies addicted to THC or with birth defects. It is known that brain damage occurs from exposure to THC in the developing brain."
"THC shrinks cancer tumors -- research!"
"How do people protect babies and children from exposure to alcohol? What about pregnant women drinking alcohol and giving their children horrible defects. You can't be addicted to THC, it's not physically possible; however, you can mentally become addicted to it with overuse of the substance. You also can't pass a mental addiction, or any addiction at that to a child through birth. Now it is true that the use of cannabis does damage under developed brains, but so does alcohol, which is legal! We have laws to keep those kinds of things from happening, but as everyone knows, there is people out there that chose not to follow some laws. Also, why would you condemn the use without THC, the THC is what the medical purpose comes from."
"Even tho I can agree that people with sever conditions could benefit from this being legal, it is a sad truth that too many with no medical issue find a doctor to lie for them and abuse the system. I had a friend who used to drive a garbage truck and he had the medical marijuana licenses, unfortunately he would smoke a little before work and a little during lunch until one day while he was high he ran a red light and killed a family in a small car. Too many ways to abuse it when it is legalize."
"anything can be abused, are you a pro or con of helping people? the weed didn't kill that family, your buddy did."
"i disagree because that is your friend's fault. He should have realized the risks of getting high, and monitored how much he smoked."
"It is a drug, it will cause addiction and with addiction comes the smashing point. We are not allowing such powerful substances into society."
"are you kidding me, marijuana is not addictive at all; tobacco can be accessed by anyone who goes to public school and that is completely legal. Tobacco is one of the most addictive drugs out there anyway"
"Do I want it to be a normal option for my grandkids, no I do not. In society the families that vote yes will certainly be creating a different way of life and will reflect on how children are raised. I was raised in a house with blue smoke from tobacco and thought it was normal. I wonder what will happen to the generation that is growing up in a pot smoke filled home, which is very concerning because this drug will mess with the brain.I do believe, life threatening illness, a better way to probably die, is not clenching your fists, but on a drug high that can relieve your death….but there are prescription drugs for that as well.I do believe that medical marijuana should be used only in medicinal ways, and not being exploited like it is. Studies are still being researched but it is hard to say where they are with this conclusion, will cbd alone help with the pain? Do I think the marijuana plant is good? Yes it probably can help, with oinments and salves as they say, just like other herbs that can help. They say it’s a natural plant, well so is the poppy plant. It depends what you get out of it. If it just messes with your brain... no I don't believe it's good."
"Medical Marijuana should not be legalized because it's causing more bad than good. In Colorado were people act happy because marijuana is legalized. The real truth behind it is that more people are getting in to car accidents because their under the influence of marijuana. In the news it might show you all the pro's of marijuana and how much its helping out people but that's all smoke and mirrors. The truth behind it is scary."
"What about the drug rehab centers being built from tax money from marijuana?"
"How manny ppl die from addicting pharmaceutical prescription drugs? I would rather be in a state where people are happy because marijuana is legalized than a state where it's illegal and everybody is all doped out on prescription pils. And then when they can't be prescribed there opiates anymore by a doctor they move on the heroin or more dangerous things and when they don't have money for it they will do w.e it takes to not be sick " withdraw " they will steal from there become violence or even prostitution. With marijuana there is no withdraw and all you have to do is plant a seed in your backyard."
"Mj is useless!!! The only reason why people want it to be a medical drug is because they are already addicted to it!!! People are just gonna try to find a way to get it as a medical drug so they can use it as an illegal drug."
"its impossible to get addicted to marajuana....."
"What have you been smoking??? My cousin died from it"
"You are asking the wrong question. I don't care if cancer patients or patients with AIDS or someone with another debilitating illness that causes them pain relieves that pain with medical marijuana. What I DO care about is the fact that dispensaries all over the place are dispensing "medical marijuana" to addicts who simply want to get high. And many of these "patients" get in their cars and drive home (or where ever) and are high as a kite when they're behind the wheel. I completely object to children being exposed to marijuana (medical or otherwise)--and know perfectly well that the "high parent" is not an attentive parent who is adequately cognizant of his/her responsibilities. Also, having "medical marijuana" in the home leaves the door wide open for children to have access to it directly--or be psychologically induced to use it on their own in the future. No one should have to ingest anyone else's second hand smoke--whether it's from a cigarrete or from a joint. I haven't met too many people who use marijuana who necessarily care whether or not what they are doing is impacting or affecting others around them--particularly older people and/or children. Employees who use medical marijuana should never be stoned at work!"
"How do you feel about pharmacies doing the same thing with worse drugs? There's more people that leave bars after drinking and drive, a lot more deaths also. You obviously have no experience first had with this 'medicine' and probably have never been affected personally by a 'stoner' or drug addict that just smoked weed. This isnt meth, or heroin, or cocaine, All of which have been "legally" given through pharmacies in the past. You will never be safe from everything Sindi, marijuana users should be the least of your worries nowadays. Peace."
"It will give people reasons to take it, and if it does take effect and helps them, who knows what will happen after the effect takes place? Why are people pushing marijuana use but instead not trying to administer another remedy? We could be studying the effects of other plants, not some leaf with a deadly history. Lives crumple by the effect of addiction, and what a way for others to find a loophole into it."
"I like how you have used "deadly history". There has not been one recorded death from using marijuana. As for alcohol, has an average 88,000 deaths a year."
"People are force fed Lortab, etc. to comply with doctors. These drugs are addicting, so its better to force feed synthetic drugs that cause addiction and do not work for a lot of pain conditions? Do some research into why Marijuana was made illegal in the first place, remember the "Just Say No" program has done nothing to stop the use of very dangerous drugs such as heroin, cocaine, crack and meth. People die every day from the use of these drugs and prescribed medicines by overdosing as what was prescribed is a dose that no longer works. Plants are the first medicines man ever used, what do you say to a person who has taken synthetic medication for a particular problem for years and still has no relief from symptoms only to find out there is a small fraction of medication in the pills manufactured? Taking useless medication and paying for it, what do you think that person should do?"
"Medical marijuana lacks FDA approval.Although it is used for medicine and specific dosages are given, it is easy to consume too much, which can harm a patient greatly. For a drug to be legal and marked as beneficial, it has to be tested many times with hundreds to thousands of human subjects. However, there have only been a few tests made and within the data that the government does have, here is a lack of consistent, scientific data proving the benefits, so it is risky to use. Some of the health risks are that it impairs ones thinking and memory, lowers reaction times, increases the risk of heart attack, heightens the risk of getting respiratory infections, suppresses the immune system, makes one potential for withdrawal symptoms, and causes depression. Too little research has been done on using marijuana as medicine, and the results are unstable. Although there have been positive effects, there is still too much risk involved and may have more disadvantages than advantages. For example, a cancer patient may use cannabis as medicine, not knowing that it is altering his/her brain and sense of balance or memory. However, with the amount of information that the United States has so far, it would be boorish to legalize it now."
"The side of effects of alcohol are far worse. Marijuana does not have to be smoked, it can be ingested, nebulized or used as a topical rub. Marijuana has been used for thousands of years, up until 60 years ago it was a common weed grown on all 7 continents like a dandelion weed, In fact you could purchase it over the counter at your local pharmacy. Marijuana has been used and studied longer than any pharmaceutical. The reason it's not legal is pharmaceutical lobbyist. The only report deaths are those who have a sever allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).Yes it makes people lazy, alters their reaction time, and short term memory but so does Benadryl (sold over the counter), so does melatonin, camel mil and many more.Marijuana is life saving for the right patient. It should be regulated and there should be consequences if it's used while driving, or at work. It should be legal and we should tax it. Think of the revenues that your state could benefit from. That money could go to our school system to raise teacher pay, get our country out of debt and much, much more. You have to choose between kids taking pharmaceuticals or marijuana, marijuana is the safer choice."
"Many "drugs" have been voted FDA approved and killed millions of people over the years. I don't put faith in FDA."
"Medical marijuana can be used in pill and food forms rendering your info about lung damage inaccurate. Are you not aware of the dangers of opiods, they far exeed that of marijuana. I have known a dozen people in my life that have died due to opiods. I do not know of a soul that has died due to marijuana use. I am a stage 4 cancer patient unable to use opiods due to there chemical make up and side effects. Marijuana would be an option for me to not suffer from serious debilitating daily pain."
"Not sure where you are getting you information, but you couldn't be further from the truth. for one you can not consume to much and the risks you say are all unsubstantiated.In-fact all the literature shows the complete opposite. you have definitely been listening to the bogus propaganda the government has been forcing down the public's throat for the last 50+ years. the united states government has been doing research behind the scenes and in fact has put a patent on medicinal cannabis.there are many countries who have been doing research since the 1970's and have been successfully treating 100's of thousands of patients with depression, cancer, lupus, dementia,MS,chronic pain, arthritis, and many many more ailments."
"Every other "drug" you get from doctors have side effects to and many of them can cause other health problems. They also have a tendency to become addictive. You can also overdose on every over the counter medicine you get."
"The only con I can think of is we need to be able to control the sale and distribution of marijuana like we do for cigarettes for children under 18 or 21 years old. We have to protect our children from all substances."
"Try parenting. I hear it's not easy but you reap all kinds of rewards by helping your children have as much information about the world and the people in it, so they can make proper determination about how the proceed in as many situations as possible."
"Well, then, we better prohibit alcohol huh? There is nothing more dangerous than a drunk driver to us all. 50% of all traffic fatalities involve alcohol. Did you know that cannabis is considered to be a performance enhancing drug and that athletes are sometimes forbidden to use it in competition because of the edge it gives. I don't think you can say that about alcohol. So, if you want to prohibit cannabis you might as well prohibit alcohol which is so much more impairing and to which so many young people become addicted."
"John, Do you think that sellers on the black market check ID's before they sell cannabis today? My kid is in an A rated public middle school in Florida and he has witnessed kids selling cannabis at school. Only legalization can stop this."
"Marijuana is a total gateway drug--it is a DRUG and anyone who uses, sells or embraces drug use is a danger and a drain on society. They begin small; but always find a way to push the envelope further to include growing, selling and before we know it; all neighbors are drug-users, sellers or friends of and whether we like it or not, we are forced to be subjected to drug living--having homeless addicts come and go in our neighborhood because all the other neighbors either use or sell themselves or are afraid to say something that may offend neighbors that do. Theft is rampant& I heard a child under 12 years of age tell his parents that this neighborhood is no longer safe to live in due to drug use, drug visitors and DRUGS, period! It's sad when a child under 12 years can spot unhealthy living and is afraid in his home or neighborhood. In a small environment like our trailer court or mobile home park-we are constantly bombarded with drug use, drug selling and drug-seeking homeless deviants that only have one goal in life--to get drugs at the exclusion of all else--including the innocent people they prey upon and use in their quest for getting more drugs. I know these things because this was my life before I was saved from addiction!"
"Out of curiosity, what is alcohol then? What are prescription pills? Did you know that the most commonly abused drug in white women are prescription medication. Did you know that anything prescribed to you by a doctor to heal an ailment is a drug? Cigarettes are also legal. So is coffee and energy drinks. Wouldn't cigarettes or alcohol be the gateway drug then because most people do not use marijuana before the two."
"Yeah, because all those doctors and physicians and people with PhD's are a danger and a drain on society.Stupid people will find any way to justify their completely false viewpoints."
"I would like to know first of all, do you have the same harsh judgement on people with chronic pain that take DRUGS every single day? They are called "prescription drugs." So are these people a drain on society? These "druggies"? They fall into addiction because the doctor says these drugs are ok. Pharmaceuticals have so many side effects, they will make your head spin. And it is close minded thinking that stops people from getting relief from a plant. Not a drug. Do some research with an open mind. Look up the side effects of Lyrica, a drug used for seizures. Then look up the side effects of marijuana when used for seizures. Educate yourself before you start yelling about DRUGS. Research what happens to a treatment that actually helps instead of masking the problem."
"I understand where you're coming from, however if it is restricted only for cancer and tumors, or certain diseases that will be healed from that, it will be better than chemo."
"So; out of more curiosity--does this make anything right? The question was not how they are obtained; if so, that is a whole discussion in itself! However, fact remains that DRUGS are a total drain and curse on society(how ever they were obtained). Probably every addict, will admit themselves that addiction is a horrible, dark, pit of hell to be in or around! Every person in or near suffers in one way or another for other follies and the rampant disregard of other peoples rights, property and values. Kathy Manos"
"Marijuana should not be legalized, because it could cause major disrupments in our community. There are people who would take advantage of this and abuse it causing chaos all because of one decision."
"Because people can use the products irresponsibly."
"The exact same thing can be said about alcohol but yet it's still legal."
"The same can be said about lighters, sharp objects of any kind, cars, anything heavy enough to cause physical harm (let's say 10 pounds in weight), etc. Would you prefer we all live in plastic bubbles?"
"I have tried over 25 different plants/flowers that are medicinal and I must be honest and say that the majority of them were not flushed properly by their grower. There is an after taste, it does not burn properly and it is always 2 out of 5. Whereas your dealer may sell 5 out of 5 level. They are serving mostly certain groups of people in our society who are different then others I.E. Torontonians VS out of towners for sellers and elite class, rich and medical patients as buyers. They charge tax and they are working with Govt to hype the prices per gram which is an insult to weed heads all across Ontario currently pimped by Vancouver/British Columbia. Mafia really suck up north so does their products. Bikers also are not consistent and these gangs are mostly posers. Again, if your new to Toronto or can't find a dealer and are cold, have arthritis issues then dispensaries is cool but honestly it seems like a gimmick set by Govt/ Growers and distributors who now get to make up fake prices. So how is it i can get 5 out 5 for same amount and for lessor = no tax? Support dealers and gain confidence of all these weed heads in Toronto, in fact dealers have closed down shops for good due to the invasion by Calgary. British Columbia etc"
"People can use it for non-medical reasons."
"of course they can use it for non-medical reasons but the purpose of this article isnt about that. its about the medical reasons"
"people can use hard perscription drugs for non medical reasons"
"No because people with an illness could just give their marijuana to people who just wanna get high!"
"What about pharmaceuticals? Those are sold and given away every day. People actually die from pharmaceutical over doses. When people smoke, or ingest to much weed, the solution is sleep it off. People don't die unless they have an allergic reaction."
"I don't want to get high with THC, but that's not the pain killing chemical in mj. It works. God forbid you ever need it. Educate yourself."
"Yes. Medical marijuana is a large help to cancer treatments and more but that isn't the problem. How easy is it to gain much a drug? You walk in, complain about a back pain which won't go away and you can be prescribed such a drug after a simple security check. Not only is this easy to obtain, it's a gateway drug for parties and an easy abuse.I had multiple kids, my age, who had to undergo such a scary thing with their parents getting into marijuana for medical and enjoyment reasons. Both ended badly. Let me point out that every human body is different and reacts in different ways with different stuff. Drinking and Allergies are only one example. Drugs are no exception to the human body. Results of medical purposed marijuana comes out inconsistent. Why risk such a thing on an easy pain which some strong medical drug can easily obtain? The rest should be self-explanatory.As Robbie Darden states of being ashamed to such a problem, I would like say I agree. Something so bad needs such help, but for a pain in adults?"
"You are so wrong on so many levels I don't even know where to begin.Just know that all your experiences and those around you that have been negative are due to prohibition and ignorance. Ultimately you've been sold a bad bill of goods (and apparently contaminated/wrong cannabis) and you're taking it at face value.Educate yourself, some comments will stay online for decades. Long after you've educated yourself and feel bad for posting such tripe.Be good to yourself!"
"My journey Of 11 years on opiates is killing me I didn't choose this,a person on a cell phone did when they tboned me.I think opiates are the gateway drug, and killing thousands.THC is a proven pain killer, get a grip on reality.Check the side effects on the NSAIDS. What how many ads for drug comp. on the evening news...."
"That's why we have medical marijuana doctors who are trained and have studied how to deal with things like side effects. But I guess we should all take opiates and prescription barbituates instead? These types of comments infuriate me with how stupid and brainwahsed our society is when millions die from alcohol and tobacco while we give our children methamphetamines to treat ADHD. but no, weed is the problem obviously."
"How easy is it? Certainly not any easier than getting a prescription for any other medicine from a doctor. The fact that parents can't control their children, or that the children don't respect or agree with their parents decisions is another problem. Cannabis has been medicine for thousands of years, it's as old or older than any other medicine, and proven effective for something over the years or it would have been forgotten. To prefer chemotherapy and radiation to cannabis if it is at all effective, which could be true, is not good thinking to my mind."
"The only way is if it is prescribed by physicians and dispensed be pharmacies."
"You should consider educating yourself on the subject. MMJ is a natural drug than in now injected with smoke and without psychoactive effects. Physicians only dispense synthetic drugs with horrible site effects and the highest rate of morbidity and mortality,"
"I believe that it should be heavily regulated by the DEA and dispenesed by pharmacies not dispeneseries. I also believe that it should be in a form other that that to be smoked. It should be prescribed be doctors. And all of this would have to be done at the Federal level. No one said anything about buying it at schools or on a corner to me and what little I know about the law that is illegal not to mention immoral."
"Mary, you mean as opposed to today where you can buy it at school? Or at the corner? Fact is that it's easy to get weed today. Legalization would be a barrier between kids and cannabis which does not exist today! You're correct though, through pharmacies would be a good start."
"I just got certified for medicinal marijuana use for generalized anxiety disorder. It took me 22 minutes from the time I opened the front door to when I left the building. Wow."
"Medical marijuana definitely has it's medical benefits to it's patients but, it is too easily accessible. It seems that by just having some lower back problems can get you a card these days and that can be dangerous. The people that claim to have back issues can sometimes not actually have pain and just use the card to smoke and not get caught. This brings a bad reputation to card holders that actually use marijuana to ease their pains. States that allow medical marijuana needs to develop a better plan for stricter rules on getting a card. Card holders who don’t use marijuana for medical reasons often sell to people who want to smoke which cause a problem for the public. If the government and medical associates can figure out a better plan to permit card holders than medical marijuana can expand throughout the country and benefit those in proper need. Until then, medical marijuana should not be permitted because it is too easily accessed and falls in the hands of average people to easy."
"I'm a patient and use medical cannabis. Properly used it has helped with my vascular disease by helping the circulation in my body it also aids in he phantom pains from my left leg being amputated. Until you can walk in someone else's shoes and truly understand the benefits of this GOD GIVEN plant that can in it's plant form as well as other forms such as concentrates edibles and topical rubs, that provide relief for MANY ailments. The side effects are none compared to manufactured medications. Why deny people hope and a better quality of life. Educate yourself more."
"Natalie, do you mean that it would be easier to access with a medically verified reason than it is today on the black market? Last time I checked drug dealers weren't carding their buyers! Why should one person have to suffer just because a different person is afraid of what's already happening? What if YOU were the unfortunate person who had to live in pain that only cannabis could relieve? Would you still feel the same way?"
"So, in your mind it is better to let someone suffer when they do not have to. Taking a lot of peoples pain away can enable them to get a job and feel productive, have less anxiety about their living situation. There will always be people that fake symptoms if they can, no stopping that. But there are plenty that are in severe pain and have horrible quality of life that should not have to live this way."
"It probably need more research to transform a bad plant to useful plant. It probably need more scientific research to transform such addictive plant to medical purposes like something for a cure for desease, cancer like breast cancer, diabetis, HIV and soforth."
"Roland,Bad plant? Addictive? Did you know that every day hundreds of people die from legal alcohol and drugs? Did you know that no one has ever died from cannabis? Please get better informed. Cannabis can not cure cancer or HIV. It can, however, help people tolerate the strong drugs that they have to take when they are getting cured for these diseases. Why should they have to suffer??? What if it were YOU that was in pain and only cannabis helped? What would you think then?"
"Marijuana is not addictive. It has no addictive additives. There are even strains of Marijuana scientists have created that make it to where the user doesn't even get a high but it relieves the pain from things such as arthritis."
"If there is value in medical use of Marijuana we should study the effects, find a dose rate response, and made a formalized drug study like any other medicinal intervention. If there is value in the inhaled delivery, make an inhaler. Allowing people to smoke or ingest a non-standardized drug does not advance medicinal principals. We should spend the money to study the drug and create a standardized dose response format for prescription use."
"I agree with this 100% and health insurance should pay for it. I have epilepsy, i do not use pot for recreational purpose. But if I knew it would stop my seizers and I did not have to take the AED that are so harmful to me, I would use it in a heartbeat!!!!"
"Emily, Marijuana has been researched and studied for over 50 years. It is safer then alcohol . Let this issue go away."
"I work for a publicly funded mental health board and in the past few years we have seen an increase in psychosis symptoms in young adults that correlate with marijuana use. I don't question the potential medical benefits to address symptoms for some diseases; the active ingredients could be extracted by pharmaceutical companies and sold with a prescription. The fact that wealthy "pro" opponents are behind the legalization makes me that much more skeptical. There's no logic to legalizing a drug that has to be smoked and clearly damages lungs."
"Wrong, marijuana does not have to be smoked, it can be consumed or even vaped which shows no negative effects on lung use. Vaporizing marijuana is the procedure of heating up the drug to a point where a vapor is realized. This does not damage lungs. Please get informed."
"I work for the National Cancer Society. Your information is entirely fabricated or delusional. Its the other way around. Marijuana was originally suppressed by pro synthetic pharma and cotton ranchers, because mmj was a better product and cheaper to get. And today the AMA is still against pot because it alleviate all the deadly symptoms caused by major pharma prescriptions. It outperforms all synthetics they make money on."
"Well, Chris, the logic in legalizing cannabis is that it will no longer have to be smoked since it will be available in edible form.As far as 'pro' legalization being behind the legalization, isn't that one in the same? I mean, who do you think is behind legalization if not the 'pro' legalization people? What exactly are you skeptical about? That makes no sense. It's like saying that you're skeptical about Pepsi retailers wanting Pepsi to be legal. Do you know what makes me skeptical? The fact that the FDA isn't acknowledging the useful benefits of cannabis. Why aren't they?If you don't question the benefits of cannabis then why wont the FDA reschedule it out of Class 1, where meth and heroin reside?Working backwards from your comment, maybe cannabis provides relief to folks with psychosis, which is why you're seeing a correlation in cases with smokers with symptons. If only the FDA would allow proper scientific studies we would know more about how this works. But alas, they sit on their hands and keep the drug war going. How else can they justify paying the DEA $70,000,000 a day??"
"When you educate yourself on the psychological effects of CBD you will realize why there is an increase in psychosis.Prohibition pressures have literally been breeding the CBD out of cannabis strains, resulting in the most commonly used strains having 1% or less CBD.This is the same thing as using high amounts of marinol, synthetic thc without any terpenes or additional cannabinoids. When your kids with psychosis issues start using high cbd cannabis, all those issues will go away. Period.Number 1... the only reason people SMOKE cannabis is because it's too freaking expensive through prohibition. Those of us that are free to grow and use it without restrictions always move to eating cannabis in some form or other, drastically reducing the 'smoking' to more of a pleasure based activity.Your opinions are based on your awareness, which comes from a position of prohibition biased information streams. Those of us with the freedom to use cannabis are beginning to know and share the truth.Educate and free the people. Free cannabis."
"It does not "have to be" smoked. You can make it into oil and cook it into food. THC has been synthesized and made into pills as well. It's called Maridol. You should really do some more research, especially considering you work for a public mental health board. It's also been known to help cases of psychosis, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD when the correct strain and amounts are used."
"It is a gateway drug #googleit"
"wow it must be true if you googled it!"
"oh yeah, because Google has all the answers, right? NOO. The people who consider marijuana a gateway drug, are those who are against it. "#googleit" mad dumb man. You're seriously so wrong about that. I've been smoking for a good 4 years now & never once have I considered doing hard drugs. It depends on the person, don't blame it on the marijuana. It isn't forcing you too do cocaine and shit. It's really just the type of person"
"No it is not a gateway drug. Having a party mentality and using alcohol is where that all begins. Marijuana is not addicting either, only if persons add other substances to the marijuana can it become an addicting drug. There is so much misinformation floating around and people never do research on what is fact and fiction. Therefore the ignorance is in abundance."
"it only is if you let it"
"This is outrageous! Who in their right mind would sponsor this! It is like waving a flag in front of kids to use drugs!"
"Dude it might be drugs but there's no deaths from it and it helps people, the only reason it would be bad is if people use it the wrong way. Marijuana helps people and it's better to have a drug that will make you be able to fight certain diseases than a pill or other medicine that won't do much. It's not the marijuana that's wrong it's the way people use it."
"Interesting. The drug of choice now is heroin as well as "cocktails" from Mom and Dad's stash of prescription drugs. I am a parent of 2 teenagers who are anti drug. One of them is a licensed EMT and guess what? She has had to administer narcan many times in order to save a life. She has also seen kids and young adults overdose and die from heroin and PRESCRIPTION meds, but never has had to respond to someone overdosing on marijuana. Medical use of marijuana is safer than opioids for relief of chronic pain."
"The flag has already been wildly waved in front of the kids and it was named the DARE program. This program gave the kids more info then they needed and made many of them more curious."
"Well, maybe parents should get off the drugs they are using such as nicotine, alcohol, meth, cocaine, heroin, Lortab, Oxycodone, etc and see what their kids are doing while they are unsupervised by their parents who are just too busy with their own drug use to even bother feeding their kids.Where do you think these kids end up? Repeating the things they learn from Mom and Dad!"
"So if your dad was sitting in front of you dying of cancer, and majauana is a option, and you declined it. you would see him dye.BTW weed is great.."
"There are other natural alternatives besides marijuana, that are not FDA approved but have been effective in relieving pain and in reversing some cancer symptoms. One example is pine Bark use. It is not addictive. The side effects of marijuana are too risky. The current marijuana plants are also more potent than the old fashioned 60's plants. Many studies were done without the newly propagated varieties."
"Josephine, So what if pine bark is not effective? Do you have any other suggestions for what I should and shouldn't be allowed to try for my pain? How about if I tell you that you can't drink your favorite drink anymore because this other drink also quenches your thirst? That's pretty much what you're saying. Yes, cannabis is stronger today than it was 20 years ago and it will be stronger still 20 years from now. What's your point? The fact is that we have no idea what strength we are getting because the only way to get it now is on the black market, which is just as easy as ordering a pizza! The side effects of cannabis are but a fraction of the risk you expose yourself to with legal alcohol, tobacco and drugs! Hundreds of Americans die every day from legal drug overdoses according to government sources. ZERO die from cannabis. How are the side effects more risky for cannabis?"
"The FDA is as corruptable as any government department. They approve dangerous medicines all the time. Adderall (which is literally methampethamine) to 11 year olds, yea no, that's cool.Instead of telling cancer patients to chew bark, how about you leave them alone, stop getting in the way of positive change, and let them have a medicine that is proven to work for both pain and appitite?"
"LOLSorry, but high cbd cannabis is so ridiculously effective for so many different things your post made me laugh. The biggest problem is that prohibition means almost none of you have ever come in contact with truly clean and awesome cannabis. This has influenced every experience you and those around you have had.Get educated and you'll be much happier about the whole thing :)"
"Medical marijuana should not be legalized because not everyone is going to use it for pain relief. It does have it's uses and is apparently good for relieving pain. But there are still the drug dealers that can get ahold of it and distribute it to anyone. Marijuana is a gateway drug which can and probably will lead to more serious drugs in teens and adults. Also, there is no way of telling if the person is actually in pain or if they just want some marijuana for smoking purposes. Marijuana is just junk and if someone is in pain, they can always take a pain killer or something other than marijuana. The last thing we need is the legalization of a drug in the disguise of a medical tool. When you hear marijuana, you think of drugs, not medical stuff. If people are able to get this stuff with something as simple as a card which is apparently easy to get, you can bet everyone is going to start having "back pain". Look at Denver. That state legalized marijuana and everyone is just hanging around on the streets smoking it. There is no way if marijuana is legalized that it will just be used for it's medical purposes. Marijuana has no medical purposes. It's just an excuse for people to get marijuana. The stuff is a gateway drug"
"Pills are worse than weed and your more likely to overdose and get addicted my abut found out the hard way so weed over pills for a change"
"Dear Josh D, who should tell me how I live my life?If I want to smoke anything, why would you want to pretend that you know what is best for me? If it is an excuse, why do you care? Are you doing anything to control people from drinking alcohol, or tobacco? Both kill over 100,000/year.How many from MJ?"
"Medical Marijuana certainly has positive effects on users, increasing immune system function and increasing quality of life for those who suffer from diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Thus, with proper- heavy- regulation medical marijuana is positive. However, it's too accessible in its present form. It's too easy for someone to get a medical marijuana license by citing back problems and begin dealing the drug. Medical marijuana should only be provided to people with a serious need-- people with impairing and life threatening diseases that can be proven by a blood test. In addition, it should be provided by dispensaries rather than made available for "patients" to grow the drug. Because for those who lack more serious health problems, marijuana has negative effects on users and society. Not only is it proven to cause lackadaisical behavior that limits potential for productivity, but the gateway effect (studies show that most drug users started with cannabis) leads to the use of hard drugs that incite violent behaviors."
"Tommy, you sound like you just read a brochure from the gov propaganda dept! Want to talk about 'gateway drugs'? You can start with tobacco and alcohol. Did you know that cannabis makes people feel mellow and happy? Just the opposite of what you fear! Legal alcohol, on the other hand, make people act reckless and violent! If it's too accessible in it's present form don't you think that maybe we should try taking it off the black market and regulating it? I do! If you lived in chronic pain that was only relieved by cannabis what would you do? Live your life in pain or break the law and smoke cannabis? Cannabis is not illegal for public health reasons. It is illegal for political reasons. As you so accurately stated it does have positive effects on people who need it. Whether it's legal or not users will use it and non users wont. The only question is who will get the money? Mexican drug cartels or the US economy?"
"Sorry I insulted you Tommy, the truth has to hurts. As to your argument, no thank you, I don't need anybody telling me what naturally occurring substance I can take or not take. Before you make your DEE DEE DEE argument "Go ahead and eat poisonous mushrooms then". Read carefully, I can make a determination as to what is, or is not good for me. I don't need sub humans telling me, or heavily regulating, what nature has provided."
"As someone who suffers chronic back pain, I am praying my state will someday see the light and legalize medical marijuana. Traditional drugs don't work or, if they do, the side effects prevent me from functioning. My brother suffers from the same condition I do and he has used marijuana for years. He is not an addict. He has a technical, highly demanding job that he is very good at. Narcotics left him dopey and unable to work at all. So which one of these has a "negative effect on users and society"?"
"I also don't think it should because it is a gate way drug into doing other types of dugs"
"that depends highly on the personality of the user"
"Its NOT a gateway drug, if so why would God have put it here how do you think people survived and lived in the olden days please do your research look up government studies medical cannabis you will see how they have lied for many years and have known many years it cures cancer etc. I'm living proof to."
"No. marijuana is bad for you, i don't understand why people haven't been taught in gradeschool that marijuana is one of the prime drugs that is damaging for the lungs and affects the brain. there are several other cons to the drug but the main worry is the lungs. yes, the drug is smoked. it affects the lungs the same way a cigarette does. Don't just use this opportunity as an excuse to get high for fun. we all know that this is the only thing they want. this is a terrible idea because no child wants to grow up and spend their life in a city where you can pick up some pot in a pharmacy. this is an easy way for anyone to have access to the drug, with or without any medical problems. this debate needs to be overlooked. there are so many things people haven't thought about. there is absolutely no logic in legalizing a drug that just hurts the lungs and possibly worsens the problem. It isn't even fully proven that this drug even helps major sicknesses, so why would anyone take the risk?? I'm sorry for my opinion but I am a very logical and thinking person. this is a terrible idea. don't ruin the future."
"Cannabis is one of the safest plants you can put in your body. It has never killed anyone and our bodies are designed to take it in without nasty side effects. It's non toxic, and works instantly. I can only think those who are against it are working for the pharmaceutical industry or have swallowed the reefer madness-madness. Thank God there are studies being done in America even though it has been studies since the 80's in Israel and Spain. National Geographic, Newsweek and more main stream media are reporting it as a legitimate medicine and millions of people have testimonials how it has helped them. Enough with the "it's bad for you" nonsense."
"That's not true at all though. Effects of Marijuana Smoking on the Lung by Dr Donald Tashkin is a study that covered 20 years and over 5000 patients and found that the only harm caused by marijuana smoking is bronchitis - inflammation of the throat caused by the hot air you're inhaling, which results in increased mucus and coughing and goes away shortly after you cease burning your throat. No cancer. No lung disease. Better lung function in some cases. Why the demonization of cannabis? It's far less harmful than alcohol for recreational use, and it is proven to help many things.I suppose you enjoy seeing cancer and AIDS patients suffer? How about little children dying of seizures? MS patients in terrible spasms and pain? Even if it was only creating a placebo effect (it's not), who are you to tell another human being what they can do with their own body?"
"It can be ingested (eaten), nebulized or used as a topical rub. I hope you'll do more research on the subject with an open mind. Google CNN Sanja Gupta report on marijuana. He was very out spoken against weed for many years, the more he researched it with and open mind, the more his views changed. He has 3 documentaries explaining how we've been lied to all our lives from D.A.R.E.Weed saves lives!!!"
"Medical marijuana is not for smoking????????? DAH! it is in pill form, research it, if you get Cancer you will be begging for it to be passed, I do not smoke nor would I smoke but I have had Cancer twice and I Pray for it to pass!"
"Your comment " it affects the lungs the same way a cigarette does." is not exactly accurate. But this is not the point..... Cannabis IS medicine, or was until outlawed in 1937, and still is to those who use it to their benefit. There have been no recorded deaths from cannabis, and in a few situations there is no other medicine that works as well, or it is the 'least bad' of other medicines. Watch Dr. Sanjay Gupta's highly informative videos please....."
"Maybe it would be good if you sourced your statements. I cant think where you might have received this information."
"Dear anonymous,Will you please provide the data which proves your point?"
"This is only the first step in getting marijuana legalized. I would hate to think that our children would be raised in a world where its normal or OK to smoke pot. Think of what it will do to our children inhaling second hand smoke. It slows the brain down where people don't function in a normal way. Their ambition slows down. Even if medical marijuana passes with all the laws and stipulations you know there will always be people that find a way to get the drug by falsifying an aliment to a physician such as lower back pain etc. I hope for the future of our children this bill never passes."
"Alcohol has ruined way more lives than marijuana. Yes, if you use marijuana all day every day, you probably won't have much motivation, but that's not how most people who use it recreationally use it. Most people use it the same as alcohol, to unwind after a hard day of work or over the weekend. And it comes without the liver damage and potential other chronic health problems that come with alcohol. And once again, you do NOT have to smoke it. There are plenty of edible options."
"Only a mentally defective puritan would want to constantly bitch about what other people are doing. The British had the right idea round up the defects and send them out to sea.You need to wake up and stop being a defect. Booze and prescription pills kill Millions yet I don't hear your defective high pitched whine about them."
"Who goes around telling kids that it's ok to smoke pot? My Uncle smoked cigs. like a chimney. Doesn't mean I decided to do it. Liquor, cigarettes or pot, how about teaching kids nutrition and responsibility for their actions, so when they grow up they have knowledge and can make their own choices that are proper for themselves. If you are going to complain about what pot does to the brain, how about speaking out against the garbage food being offered everywhere you go? The crap being sprayed on your produce! How about the nerve agent Organophosphate and thousands of other chemicals you come in contact with and consume that you don't even know are there?"
"Cathy, I hate to ruin your day but that world is already upon us. I would rather have my kids in a world where cannabis is normal or OK than have them in a world where cannabis is 'cool' like it is now. Don't you know that ALL kids go through a rebellious period in their lives where they want to do something that they're not supposed to? I would rather have a doctor stand in the way of my kid accessing cannabis like kids can right now on the black market. Do you think that sellers check ID now? Right now you don't even have to falsify an ailment. Right now there's NOTHING standing between kids and weed. In fact it's the kids that are selling it! I want it unavailable to kids! Legalization is the only way to make that happen. And if you're worried about second hand smoke then don't smoke in front of your kids and they wont have to deal with any."
"Maybe look at children who are given methamphetamines to treat ADHD instead of bitching about people who are dying and lives are made a bit better from cannibis.Things people take for granted like being able to eat solid food or not having panic attacks and migraines every day are allowed to have a higher quality of life thanks to this.Alcohol and Tobacco deaths are about 500,000 DEAD EVERY YEAR due directly to use of these drugs. And yes, they ARE DRUGS. That is 1 in every 5 deaths being due to alcohol or tobacco. How many deaths from marijuana do you think there are? Have you ever heard of anyone you know, or someone they know dying from marijuana? It does not happen. And as far as overdose, there is not one single documented case of a human being ever dying from a cannibis overdose in all of recorded history. Not one."
"This is where good hands on parenting comes into play. Be with your kids when you are not working, supervise them, keep them at home and in your hair. My parents were hands on, we never went anywhere without a parent, never left the yard. Did not spend the night with other kids. It is your responsibility what your kids are exposed to."
"90% of Medical Marijuana is not smoked and does not have psychoactive effects. Your obviously not aware MMJ facts. In any event Nation Cancer Society did a 15 years study on thousands of pot smokers. In all, not a single case of Cancer or lung disease. Matter of fact because of the benefits of CBD when studying lungs of heavy pot smokers they found them lungs to be void of the same diseases found in Americans who dont smoke pot. Pot smoker are healthier by a wide margin. How so?"
"No, Meri-Juana should not be legal in the Medical Fields because smocking weed is bad for your health. Meri-Juana can cause lung and respiratory cancer. Encimade"
"Marijuana used for medical purposes would not be smoked, it would be administered in a safer fashion that reduces harm to the patient and has a better way of delivering a more exact dose. Doctors are not going to tell their patients to "light a blunt.""
"What a total fabrication. You clearly invented that. National Cancer Society approves the use of MMJ because in the 10's or thousand of studies it shown not a single case of Cancer or respiratory disease. Matter of fact pot smokers show healthier lungs that the average American. CBD is the strongest anti-tumor compound in the world. NCS loves it as do the people that use it."
"Obviously, you don't have to watch your child, mother or sister or yourself Suffer!! Chronic pain or any debiliting sickness and the only Meds that doctors offer them is Opioids which is easy to accidentally overdose more people have died on Meds than heroin and cocaine mixed!!!!! Do you research then make an educated post!! You think smoking weed is harmful to health It has not ever killed anyone. (Main point) CBD oil is found in cannabis from marijuana has low to know THC which gives the high in MJ BUT HAS WONDERFUL MEDICAL BENEFITS FOR SUFFERING PEOPLE NO NEED TO SMOKE IT JUST A FEW DROPS NO OVERDOSE!!!"
"That is EXACTLY why it SHOULD be legal. Smoking anything is bad for your lungs but if legal, it would be available in edible form. All that is available today is smokable weed of unknown strength, on the black market. Lets get it quality controlled, taxed, regulated and available ONLY through licensed retailers which will keep all the money from sales here in the US economy instead of having our money sent to Mexican drug cartels!"
"no it does not, actually those who smoke pot are equal to non-smokers. Have a great Day!"
"I truly wish the medical marijuana legislation was about medical treatment. There are more than just people who are truly in need as what can be viewed as a viable treatment option obtaining access. This is just a thinly veiled attempt to legalize recreational use."
"US Veteran here, it helped me overcome PTSD. You are wrong."
"yes it has its cons . there are ppl who abuse it . I lived with a few . But there are ppl I have taken care of as a nurse that I thought should of had it instead of shooting them with needles when they had no place to shoot them at . It would ofhelp more way than one ."
". I was also on the presidents list 4 times and an honor student with a bachelor's. I was never a couch potato. It helped me feel better and focus on my work."
"using marijuana is crap, this shi% started my son on the path that finally killed him at 44 yrs of age, he had a very tragic and painfully death , i will not listen to anyone that defends this crap after seeing what it did to my family, if you use it I hope that you all suffer the same fate as my son, go get hooked and suffer"
"Tthis medicine helps many people who are dying and suffering right now because they cannot eat without puking normally and have pain so bad they cannot sleep. It works when other things like opiates do not provide relief. So before you condemn, perhaps consider that you are not the only person effected by this and that not all of those effects are bad.Perhaps focus your efforts on alcohol and tobacco. Which actually do and have killed millions of people."
"im sorry to hear about that but thats his own faut for getting addicted to other substances, may he rest in peace<3"
"I think not .Would you let a pilot to fly your plane or a doctor to do surgery on you after he/she taking their medical marijuana?"
"Tamara, would you let a pilot fly your plane or your doctor do surgery on you after he/she drank alcohol?"
"Silly Tamara. Medical Marijuana does not have to be smoked or THC ingested. Its done safely by CBD and THCA. No smoke and no psychoactive ingredients. Look up CBD and THCA."
"you stole that from an old Drug commercial in the 80's where a doctor is doing an procedure on a kid, while on pot. Don't take your evidence or support from people paid to say its bad for you! If i paid you to say that our blood is actually blue in our body, you'd be saying that 24-7! We live in a money hungry world, dont be a mindless sheep. Look into things for yourself."
"No but would you let your pilot/doctor fly or do surgery on you while they were drunk ?"
"I do not believe that medical marijuana should be legalized. This is for an array of reasons, one being that I am sure that there are other drugs someone can use to relieve their pain of whatever ails them. Use a drug that is less harmful to your system. There is not consistent scientific evidence that supports the use of medical marijuana for any type of illness. There are better more useful drugs on the market that can help you with sicknesses. Why use such a controversial and addictive drug? Why use a drug that causes such havoc and disagreement in our society? Marijuana is very horrible for a persons immune system. Not to mention is highly addictive. Also, by making this drug legal in numerous states, this shows the teen generations and generations before them that using such a drug is okay. It breaks the social norm that drugs are bad."
"Are you insisting that these 'other' drugs wouldn't wreak havoc in our societies? Open your eyes, the other drugs, percocet, hydrocodone, Vicodin, Oxycodone... these are the real drugs that are actually doing the damage. Not only are these chemically filled drugs terrible for your body, they are also extremely addictive. Also, you call marijuana addictive.. It isnt. Studies have shown that emotional and mental dependence is the only real argument for addiction as it is not physically addictive. Also, have you looked into how this 'disagreement in our society' was started, William Randolf Hearst.. blah.. blah.. It should not have been banned in the first place and we need correction to the laws now before the 'disagreement' can be settled. The first 40million dollars from colorado recreational sales go directly to public education. Also, drugs ARE bad.. cocaine, heroine, pills, even tobacco and alchohol. Marijuana is the least bad by far and under the right regulation can be very profitable for the State, and enjoyable for responsible adults"
"I agree with welbyTodd, I'm SCI take most every drug he stated by noon i'm like the walking dead, don't eat right due to don't feel good at all. Been to a College lately? How many family's have been killed due to a drunk driver crossing the yellow line but yet on every corner you can get Beer, whisky watch a mix of drinks be made as you hear Chug Chug Chug...."
"The economy will definitely benefit directly from marijuana. The only problem is that drugs such as weed can easily make people need to rely on it. Just like alcohol in the early 1900s or opium in early China, drugs and alcohol make people lazy. During the early 1900s in America, men were arriving to work drunk or not coming at all. This unproductivity does not help stimulate the economy but halt's our economic growth. Furthermore, the opium addiction that China faced in the 17th century had people relying on it to the point that there was a war that fought for opium. Next, weed is a definite gate way drug. Weed can lead people on to trying stronger substances like heroin. Say we were to legalize weed. In 10-50 years would be have to leaglize heroin as well. There has to be a point where we know when to hold our temptations. Cigarettes and alcohol kill millions of people. Whether that is lung cancer or drunk driving, do we really need another substance to kill more people?"
"Stanley it's not like we're going to ever "get rid" of the plant! It is a weed! It kills nobody, and no, it isn't for everyone or the lazy. In fact, the Opium Wars you speak of are alive and well today, with a billions-a-year business in opiate derivatives for common "safe, FDA-approved" drugs like Oxycodone. In fact, much of today's Eastern "politics" is involved with it.That marijuana is a "gateway drug" is a parroted statement almost always misleading, if not untrue. If it is a gateway drug, that is because after smoking it, or eating it, users realize they did not want to go rob a bank or start climbing up the walls. They realize they have been lied to by the authorities for the first time perhaps, all the the things they were told about the "devil weed" just weren't true. WHY would they lie and put these thoughts into peoples' heads? To protect the existing order of drug distribution, i.e., doctor-pharmacist-Big Pharma (Merck, Phizer, etc.)-patient. Marijuana makes many of their pills unnecessary they know business would take a big hit. Even at high street prices you get more green medicine dollar for dollar than everything except perhaps baking soda and aspirin."
"How medical, is medical marijuana? It only takes back pain that won't go away to get a medical marijuana card, and in a state which is already struggling (RI), we do not need half the state high. To make my point very clear, it is obvious that by legalizing medical marijuana, you are legalizing marijuana for everyone. Marijuana since the 70's has been part of a high school student's culture, and is that a good thing? Marijuana is a gate way drug, it promotes bad qualities, and it makes you incapable of doing anything productive for society for a number of hours. Is it fair for someone who works hard, is productive, and therefore makes more money since they are not under any influences while working, to pay a higher percentage of taxes than someone who smokes marijuana, making them less capable of working and thus making less money? The whole medical marijuana is a joke, anyone can get a medical card. It is a bad influence on the youth, and it will rip the country apart by creating economic flaws. The people of America are already falling behind in knowledge compared to other countries, so how far would we fall if we were high?"
"Really? Well maybe if you were in my situation and have a face full of scars from having uncontrollable seizures... not knowing when they are coming... falling flat on the floor from a standing position... walking around with blackeyes and having people look at you crazy...then maybe you wouldn't feel so strongly aboput it!!! Since the doctors cannot cure my seizures, they prescribed me medical marijuana and I have not had a seizure since... this was 2 yrs ago!!!! I can now go in public and not worry about falling in the middle of a store, having little kids completely freaked out, saying "mommy, what's wrong with that lady?" Maybe you need to do a little more research before you are so against something. I'm not being ugly, just trying to Educate."
"You sir, are incorrect on all points. Your false 1950's propaganda wont stop the truth. Marijuana will be legal in every state by 2020. Get used to this, you will have lower blood pressure."
"You are so right America is behind the times the reason pharmaceutical companies make to much money on the addictioning drugs they push like opioids that people can easily accidentally overdose on thousands die every year from accidentally I'd. Medical MJ such as cannabis oil which has no (THC )the chemical that causes the high but gives medical benefits and no one has lost their life from it !!! Just gained a somewhat normal life praise God!!! Do you research on how medical MJ has helped suffering people"
"Austin V , you are so far off on everything you said, i assume seeing as how you are so much more productive then anyone who use medical marijuana that you don't drink nor never had a shot you know the answers to all. I MYSELF am a SPI hit by a drunk driver that he was able to get from any local bar that walks fine today,me I need a Cain forced to take 15 pills a day,2 of which help me to go to the bathroom. Took part iin a program to see if it helped or not, i was able to cut my med's in half went from 112 lb to 125 lb due to the pain went way down so i could get up to cook, eat, dropped the 2 pills that helped me go to the bathroom. Once the study was over i had to go back to a state that don't have it legal so now i'm right back where i was before i started. As far as taxes goes guess what, they are high due to the med's that are covered by Ins. which get the money from taxes that run higher so the state can cover the high cost of med's every Dr. hands out so they collect money from drug manufacturing them. Not to be or sound rude but i buy it and do custom wood working in my shop that earns very good money"
"Steve Jobs smoked it everyday of his adult life.He made lots of money, was very creative and revolutionized the tech industry."
"If drugs derived from marijuana can be used to treat the medical conditions, then why do we need to legalize marijuana. One of this dichotomies of our current society is that smoking is harmful... unless it is marijuana. Any proponent care to rationalize this for me?"
"It is true that smoking marijuana contains much more carcinogens than tobacco, however marijuana has an "anti-tumor effect" that stops growth of cancerous cells in the body. Furthermore a person doesn't have to smoke marijuana to feel it's effects.. Why keep a plant illegal that has the potential to solve many problems.. If it were legalized there would be a lot less environmental damage caused by "illegal grows" because they wouldn't have to hide it in a forest on national land. Why make drugs that imitate a plant that we could be using right now? It would make sense to make marijuana legal because it has all the health benefits a person could want."
"Hi Mike, I'd be glad to help you out. The few drugs that have been synthesized to be like marijuana or cannabinoid molecules include Marinol and Nabilone. They have not been found to be as effective by patients in medicinal marijuana states as ingesting cannabis preparations. Dr. Ronald Drucker explains why synthetic drugs based on naturally occuring phytonutrients are not as effective as the real thing in his book titled "The Code of Life." It is a short 200 page book available on line in .pdf format for you to read on your tablet or pc. Smoking we know is bad for us, as we know it causes lung cancer. However, smoking cannabis itself does not increase the potential for getting lung cancer. In fact there has never been a documented case of anyone dying from ingesting cannabis in any form, smoked or otherwise. See the research by Dr. Donald Tashkin, professor of pulmonary research at UCLA School of Medicine. I also recommend looking at Biochemist Dennis Hill's story of how he cured stage 4 prostate cancer with cannabis oil. http://patients4medicalmarijuana.wordpress.com/2012/10/23/biochemist-who-cured-his-stage-4-prostate-cancer-with-cannabis-oil-explains-how-it-works/Research the endocannabinoid system for more."
"No, Phil, I think the drugs derived from marijuana should be prescribed for the medical reasons that recreational marijuana activists are claiming as justification for legalizing marijuana. -- Because, as has become clearly evident in California, "medical marijuana" is being prescribed, grown, sold and used overwhelmingly, for other than medical reasons. Thanks"
"So then you feel it should be a schedule 1 substance"
"There is a student in my class who smokes mj. I immediately have lung problems. I feel my bronchi closing off immediately and have to take something to reduce swelling but I continue to fill a hard substance at the top of my lungs. Why do I react? Is it the THC on his clothing. How can I resolve issue? Why should I have to suffer significantly when he could take something else?"
"Marijuana opens airways and is prescribed to help people with breathing problems. The smell from marijuana would not be any more damaging to your lungs then the smell off a cigarette smoker's clothing or someone with strong perfume. I suggest you talk to your doctor, they may even suggest you begin to eat marijuana to help with your breathing problems or you carry an inhaler around since you can't outlaw smells from other people."
"it is an allergic reaction my aunt smokes but not around her kids her youngest was allergic what was on her clothes would set her childs reactions off ask him to wear a smoke free shirt or to smoke after class instead of before stoners are usually pretty peaceful just explain it to him"
"I have a friend that is allergic to mj he cant touch it with his hands or he breaks out in a rash, it could be from his clothing or if eh is smoking right before class it could even be the scent. Can you have a private conversation with him and ask him to refrain from smoking until after class?"
"You could be having a severe allergy reaction. This can sometimes become "life threatening" asthma. My granddaughter has been hospitalized several times from "life threatening" asthma from just being around areas where dogs have been or a similar condition exists. Sometimes people have to take charge of a situation to make sure their lives are obstructed by others. You can do this indirectly. There is a police "tip" line you can call and just say what you wrote. If no police number, call the highway patrol and ask them to pass the word on. Nobody will ever know you called. Never tell a buddy or friend you called. It's one of those things you set in motion, observe the result and let it go. Do a repeat call if it reoccurs. You could be training the police to do a better job. You could also rescue a person from a miserable life. You don't have to give your name. Do say the other persons name. He is in need of getting an education that his behavior is not acceptable. You are in need of a health environment. God Bless and take care."
"To: Atnoinette A, and other (s). If she started smoking Marijuana at age 10 she was prone to being an addict. Who supplied her with weed at age 10? They should be in jail for contributing to the deliquency of a minor. Alcohol (booze) is controlled; and for sure no one should ever offer a minor booze. Her story[Antoinette] is one of the multitude of reasons/stories that people use to prevent the legal use of weed, pot, marijuana etc........!"
"Marijuana is unaddictive."
"CANNABIS is NON Addictive SHE should have BEEN Given Foods Drinks EVEN a VAPORIZER APPLICATION examples of ALTERNATIVE uses of BOTH PLANTS Let your FOOD be your MED. Let your MED. be your FOOD"
"Medical marijuana should not be legal. Despite the fact that it may relieve some pain, there are many other safer FDA-approved medicines currently in the market that can achieve the same purpose. Smoked marijuana is dangerous, toxic, and unsafe for use. It damage different systems of the body, including the immune system. In 2014, the FDA backed up the federal government's decision to list marijuana in schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act. The FDA also said that marijuana has no "real additive medical benefit." They clearly stated that marijuana is harmful. It's not logical to use a substance that can cause a lot of potential harm in return for benefits that can easily be achieved with other medicines. Not only is this not logical, marijuana is addictive and can be used as a "gateway" drug to other more dangerous and highly addictive drugs, such as cocaine, heroin and ecstasy. Also, if medical marijuana were legalized as is has been in various states, it could be used as a cover for more recreational use, which is definitely illegal. Overall, the evidence is clear that marijuana is harmful and that there are better and more effective drugs, meaning medical marijuana should not be legalized."
"The FDA takes private monies from big pharma to fund the testing and approval of our medications. This is a major conflict of interest. FDA approved drugs, particularly Oxycontin, a man made hospital grade form of heroin, classified as Opiates, are currently neck and neck for deaths with methamphetamine and heroin. Don't let them fool you. FDA approval is about money, not our health. Beware of anything you are told to put into your body by anyone! The CDC shows that opiate overdoses are decreasing in states with MMJ. If the gateway theory were true, we would be seeing the opposite. The CDC also shows that in areas of states such as Washington where people have a lower socio-economic status and are therefore on state/federal health insurance they get prescribed methadone for pain control. This has been a travesty. Ever since they allowed methadone into the state formulary heroin has made a come back and so therefore has overdoses. No ones addiction issues can be laid at the feet of a single substance. It is choices that lead you down this path and bad information does not equal good choices. You can never legislate away addiction or people's choice of vice but we can wake up and treat addiction like the medical crisis it is."
"I have smoked on an off for years since i was 17 im currently 34 an have never tried or attempted to try any other deug. Im currently disabled an take 120 mg of morphine a day an up to 80mg of oxycodone a day for back pain, neuropathy pain and necrotizing pancreaitits pain but didnt need any of those meds when i smoked but now im in pain management an the weed is available in pill form i see pain pills more dangerous an addictive than pot! They also talked about putting in a morphine pump cause in sc its not legalized for medical use i cant stand to be on all these drowsy narcotics that only dim the pain some. On pot im pain free an more energetic."
"People may use it for something other than medical uses."
"Oh my God! Somebody might use it to make themselves feel better?! We've got to stop them! They don't know what they're doing! It's up to responsible people like you and me to police our communities and assign morality to victimless activities like marijuana smoking; if we don't, some people might get high! And clearly that has a dramatic impact on yours and my daily lives, so all marijuana smoking that isn't for approved medical reasons (it's only moral if the State approves, right?) must be stopped!"
"Pharmaceuticals kill more people the any other option. Alcohol kills more, here's a truth for you 5 gallon buckets kill more babies than medical marijunana ..."
"That's true of pretty much any medication. So, you want to take it out of the hands of people who are suffering because it 'might' fall into the hands of someone who isn't? And even if it does, it's much less damaging than cigarettes or alcohol. If you were to break your leg and while you were screaming in pain the doctor said, 'Sorry, can't give you anything for pain because some people might use it for something other than medical necessity.' how would you feel at that point? You're essentially saying that you don't care if it helps people because someone might have fun with it. Why don't you go see someone who is truly suffering sometime and sit with them for awhile. Be sure to let them know that you think that even though there's something that can help ease some of their suffering, you don't want them to have it because someone might get their hands on it and have fun with it."
"I understand what you mean. Many people -who do not need it- will use it just to get high. I would bet doctors will see many more people complaining of "chronic pain" or "anxiety" although thy have NO history of such things. The comments on here saying 'any drug can be abused' are all right but they're taking comments like yours way out of context. I understand what you mean and it's a valid concern. I see people abuse adderal all the time. They doctor shop and claim they have ADD even though they just want to lose weight or have extra energy for work. I think people who want weed for mental illness should be put on other antipsychotics first. Ones that don't make you high! I wish there was a drug test for Paxil, Wellbutrin, serequel, etc and they MUST try those other alternatives before being given pot. Also, I worry about these types of people giving all people with serious mental or physical problems a bad name. It undermines what's really going on with the patient who truly suffer from the illness's other 'pot heads' are claiming to have. I believe medical marijuana can be very beneficial to those who need it but I'm worried about all the frauds."
"The topic of the legalization of marijuana in our country is a hot one right now. Some say that it could lead to new medical advanced including cures for cancer, arthritis, and other life threatening diseases. Those who are against it argue that the side effects are unknown and we cannot publicize a product with unknown side effects. The bottom line is that The FDA, the CSA, and the FCC have all stated that this product is unstable and can cause severe damage to one's body including lung cancer, brain damage, heart disease, damage to the immune system, as well as many more if not used under a controlled environment. That is why to this day the product of marijuana has not been legalized among the entire country."
"Then why have the approved multiple dangerous drugs that are used as medicines?"
"What in the heck does the FCC have to do with cannabis???IT has been used for centuries, if there are any unknown side effects, they are unknown to most of you in this category. This plant is used FOR it's many "side effects". At the turn of the last century, it was used in over 40% of the tinctures and included in the United States Pharmacopeia, which dictates what substances doctors can prescribe in this country's health system. The study done in California (for over 5 years, following cancer patients, cannabis and tobacco smokers and the like) shows it does none of what you stated in your 'Bottom Line' statement. This product was vilified by a man who was tremendously racist, and ignorant about this plant. Back then, we didn't have the science to learn about and test the activity of this plant. We have been testing this plant in California since it was first decriminalized back in 1996. Everything Harry J. Anslinger said about cannabis which he starting calling marijuana, was a made up lie, and his people working under him were taking his garbage and spreading it gospel truth. They didn't mind having no facts when they lied about it back in the 1930's, did they? They made it all up."
"Unfortunately what you call the bottom line is based on propaganda not science. Your last sentence is false. The reason for prohibition is profit and control of the people. Research the science that is peer reviewed rather than published by pharmaceutical corporations and government agencies whose budgets depend on prohibition..."
"and if you belive the government you need to get some help because all they do is lie all propaganda the first president of this country grow hemp and marijuana so their belive me I do my research"
"No, I don't believe marijuana should be a medical option, for several reasons. When I was younger; one of my family members had cancer and was eventually put into hospice. My family thought that medical marijuana could help ease the pain of the cancer, and make it easier to eat, but were informed by the doctors that there were better and more efficient drugs for these problems. Also, many of the widely renown effect of marijuana come from CBD, the compound of marijuana that is not responsible for promoting a psychoactive response. This is the compound that is used in the miracle stories about curing seizures. So instead of legalizing all of marijuana plant, psychoactive compounds included, it might be a better option to extract and use the truly medicinal part of the plant. This is similar to the theory currently used with opiates. Pure opium is illegal, morphine is not."
"You can't just extract CBD because the whole plant works together to do the magic its called the entourage effect"
"THC connects to the CB1 or CB2 cannabinoid receptor site on the cancer cell, it causes an increase in ceramide synthesis which drives cell death. A normal healthy cell does not produce ceramide in the presence of THC, thus is not affected by the cannabinoid. My Mom went from 240 to 175 in 2 months on CHEMO. Educate yourself before you go trying to convince people of something that's complete nonsense please. I want my mom to have a chance to live, not die because people are misinformed. Oh yeah did I mention the chemo just made her cancer worse?"
"So they don't know if it helps because they did not try it? There are good drugs for a person in hospice care and when a person is in hospice care this is very serious. My mom and dad were in hospice before they passed away. I thank God we have hospice care."
"I know that marijuana can and is used to help those who have been injured, but that is not what I am worried about. I am only fourteen years old and I can tell you right know that I know the effects it can have on you if you use it improperly. I also know that the parents of kids that go to my school give the drug to their kid for misuse. The kids use it at parties and to get high all the time. They even come to school smelling like it. I messes with their mind so that they can not focus during class. So as you can see there is a domino effect that happens when someone uses it for the wrong purpose."
"Anything can be misused. Should baseball bats be illegal because it can hurt people or break things? Should the internet be illegal because some people use it to hack other people? If you don't think that all things that can be misused should be illegal then why do you think that this one thing should be? Even when marijuana is 'misused' it doesn't cause any real damage. At worst someone could get a buzz from it for awhile. Even though it can help people who are suffering and/or seriously ill, you think they should continue to suffer, to use strong chemicals w/ no other options, that destroy their organs over time.I have epilepsy, narcolepsy, major nerve damage, constant migraines and fibromyalgia and much worse issues. Basically, I'm in pain all the time,it is torture all the time and the struggle is constant. The meds will end up shutting down my liver and kidneys and I still continue to suffer nonstop even though there's a pretty harmless plant that could help me because some kids at your school get high? Obviously keeping medical marijuana illegal doesn't stop the kids at your school from getting high, all it does is prevent law abiding, seriously ill people like myself from having relief from suffering."
"i know exactly what you mean Ive been around people like this my whole life and im only fourteen and i cant beleive how people could use it inproperly even though i grew up around it i still never touched it"
"No because using weed regularly over a long time can lead to a state called "burnout." A person who is in this pattern tends to be inattentive. They can be described as dull, and being burned out from marijuana abuse affects their performance at work or at school.Personal relationships suffer because the user just doesn't have the ability to fully participate in them. When burnout is especially pronounced, the pot user may not be able to respond to other people at all. They are in their own world."
"More lack of education here. The 'burnout' you refer to, is caused by using the indica strains, which absolutely stone you to the point of being "in-da-couch". The Sativa strains do not have that effect, but rather are preferred for the alert and aware effects, of the mind and body. There are only three strains of cannabis, indica, sativa and ruderalis. Too many people spread incorrect information, due to a profound lack of knowledge, and a total belief that the government is totally telling the truth. The DEA is required by law to block and counter any and ALL attempts to change anything about the status of this God given plant. Our own bodies have the anandamide signaling system that takes advantage of the components in this plant. I hope this has helped you to at least, SEE that the government has an agenda to keep people in the dark about the only plant that naturally kills cancer cells, and restores proper function to the systems of the body (as long as our barbaric medical community has not destroyed them with chemo, or butchered the body with surgery)."
"It will be more expensive when taxed then if I just buy it off the street today. Thank you America."
"That tax money is going to support our government that is in debt, not to street gangs, cartels and other criminals. I'd rather spend my legal money my on that! Use your brain!"
"Not if you can grow it yourself then it free!"
"Wow, really? All some people can think of nowadays is money. How about the people who are going through life threatening dieseases and suffering with pain every day? If marijuana can keep even one child with cancer pain and nausea free, I'm all for it."
"The states will learn to undersell the black market, just as they did with alcohol. Eventually, street dealers will be out of business and all other businessmen have to account for their stock, pay their employees, stake out distribution centers and sell what the public is wanting in order to remain in business. Complete decriminalization for possession an usage is the main goal. Legalization is the first step in the right direction. The FDA has no problem with your doctor prescribing you morphine or oxycodone. So why do they continue to protect the income of the Drug Cartel. This has been going on for over 70years. It's time the government threw in the towel on this issue"
"Eve,Did you know that the DEA pays itself $70,000,000.00 a day and they have not succeeded in keeping ANY drug off the streets?"
"i say no because some of medical marijuana may be kill you sometimes"
"the only type of marijuana that has killed anyone is synthetic which is fake marijuana cooked up in a lab, the government are trying to bring in the synthetic s*** legally and make the all natural stuff illegal still, because then they have control over the legal market of marijuana and everyone in government can give themselves a nice pay rise from the money made off the synthetic marijuana, NO ONE I repeat NO ONE has ever died from smoking natural marijuana it is impossible to overdose on while someone could have one joint of the synthetic stuff that the government is making and it could kill them or do serious brain damage which has happened already, don't believe your government when they say that synthetic marijuana is better than natural marijuana they are lying right to your face because they know that they can grease their palms and control the synthetic marijuana market which is something they can't do to the natural marijuana market."
"I strongly disagree legalizing marijuana because people might use it for something else like getting high or something else that's really bad"
"That cannot be used in an argument, of course people are going to use it to get high but its not stopping anybody from doing that right now. Also using for "something else that's really bad" would be lacing the marijuana which is a lot worse."
"People will obviously smoke it to get high whether its legal or not.Legalizing it will only help people who need it. For the people who dont need it, it wont do them any harm."
"I do not recommend the smoking of marijuana"
"If you live near any form of industry, which most of us do, then you are breathing some form of pollutant 24-7, resulting from commercial industry the goverment steps in here and lets the manufacturers get by with xxx amount of carcinogens released into the air. If you think the smoking of Marijuana or anything else is harmful enough to stop the medicinal usage of it being legalized, then research the pollutants. I think you are in for a big surprise. These carcinogens are allowed and have absolutely NO medical value, but they are legal."
"No i dont belive it should teenager should be able to do it to."
"A teenager can take morphine. Is that acceptable to you?"
"okay but the law consequence is the same penalty as cigarettes to minors law will crack down on it and less teens will but at use of them unless on the streets and that would still be a crime if legalized"
"Teenagers and young adults should avoid substances that can harm the development of the prefrontal cortex of the brain. This is the area in which the Cause and Effect development occurs. Without this development a person engages in more risk taking behaviors."
"majority of people who are for medical marijuana use just want it legalized period. Medical marijuana is just a ruse!! We already have enough problems with the legal drug alcohol why add on more problems with marijuana. 80% of all violent crime is alcohol related. Why on earth do we want to legalize another dangerous drug."
