"Legalize it for REC. and MED. use.

    1. Only people with a weak mindset will let other hard drugs get to be used by that person.

    2. More good than bad_ GOOD=All non-treatable/ non-curable diseases cured/ treated.; BAD= Breathing problems but barely reached unless someone some SMOKES it 35+ joints a day for 5+ years.

    3. If weed is legalized for MED. and REC. uses other drugs will go down. NOT TO BE A REBEL, BUT TO HAVE FUN AND/ OR TO FEEL BETTER!

    4. NOT MIX (no stuff added), ALL NATURAL= GOOD

P.S life story marijuana work for my stress and anxiety, before and after almost being dead from other stuff... Something to Think about to the people that Con."

"Marijuana is not the gateway drug alcohol is. I was introduced to alcohol at age of ten. I was introduced to marijuana at age of 14 . I was introduced to cocaine and crack at the age 17 & 18 . upon being introduced to crack I became addicted to crack & left marijuana alone.I robbed & stole to get crack ,I later went to prison for the robberies, Related to crack. After release from prison I've never touched crack or cocaine I went back to drinking alcohol then back to marijuana which helped with my nausea and vomiting due hpylori bacteria. At that time nobody believed that marijuana helped my stomach yes marijuana is good for the body not only for nausea and vomiting , but for pain I am now & 45 yes old & suffer from osteoarthritis that's in my hands , elbows, shoulders, & neck I was prescribed meloxicam but it upsets my stomach & highly addictive . marijuana needs to be legalized period . I buy my marijuana illegally from the cartels making them richer , when my money could goin to state taxes.state taxed marijuana could be beneficial for the schools like Colorado does and not to the cartels. So to all the hypocrites do the right thing & quit crying & legalize it for my benefit & the states benefit."

"Whoever said marijuana is bad is wrong, people need to learn it helps people, It SAVES people's lives. And to be honest it helps WAY better than some other medicines. You know how many kids and other people had bad troubles and MARIJUANA, yes, MARIJUANA saved them. Come one people, it's at least better than other medicines and drugs out there that do almost nothing to help. And doctors have proved benefits for marijuana so don't use that as an escuse to dis marijuana. Marijuana is bad not by itself, but the way PEOPLE use it. Just hear me out, marijuana does have some bad effects, I understand that but it's worth it for the good effects. But, just please hear me out, IT HELPS AND SAVES LIVES!!!"

"I have PTSD and have been through therapy and on several different prescription medications, including Xanax, Zoloft, Seroquil, Respidal, Lamictal and Celexa. Xanax caused hallucinations, Zoloft caused suicidal thoughts, Seroquil caused dizziness, lightheadedness, and extremely low blood pressure, Respidal caused me to be an emotionless zombie, Lamictal didn't help at all, and Celexa made it impossible for me to focus. The only thing that has ever come close to working for me is certain strains of marijuana. It has never had any long-lasting side effects for me and has only ever kept me balanced. I don't use it currently because I'm not in a state where it's legal, and I'm afraid to buy it on the black market because if I get the wrong strain, it can make my symptoms worse. However, if it was legalized, I would not have that issue. I would be able to get the right kind for my needs and I wouldn't have to worry about possession charges. For now, I have to rely on therapy and working on my own coping mechanisms, which are not effective in all situations."

"The original placement of marijuana on the level one drug category was an executive order made with racial underpinnings by then President Richard Nixon. His personal selection of drug addiction experts had NOT included marijuana in their list because they knew that it had positive medicinal value and there was not valid research that could show it to be addictive. The carcinogen value was low in the general use as smoked since the amount normally consumed by a regular user was too low to be of consequence. The primary value was to keep the "Drug War Money-go-Round" up an running as a profit to the criminal justice system, the psychosocial AA model in treatment and the drug cartels. THC stays in the system long enough to be identified as having been used for up to 30 days prior in persons with a higher body fat content. The end of the "Money-go-Round" for all is at hand. Stop worthless "so-called" treatment, the waste of criminal justice dollars, and drug cartel profiteering and legalize, tax and regulate marijuana as should have been done long ago. As a 30 year science base addictions professional, I am well aware of the truth along with the corruption."

"I have Chrons disease and my abdominal and back pain became so bad by January this year that I tried marijuana and CBD oil.. My PCP said if I didn't get some help I was going to die. I weighed 83 lbs. I could not eat or do any of the daily activities I usually do and was very sick. My two doctors said my intestines were so inflamed I could not have surgery but also they could not give me any pain meds. All the current meds available were not helping and I've never got any relief in the past (21 years) so medical marijuana was my last hope. Since I don't live in a legal state I did not want to chance buying cbd oil overseas so opted to take Humira but am scared to death of the side effects. I continue smoking medical marijuana, though I have concerns about having an illegal substance, it has helped me so much with my debilitating fatigue, appetite, weight, eyesight, nausea and vomiting and the chronic debilitating pain in my stomach is gone. I am no longer depressed, either which is awesome to me. I am glad to be on the road to recovery and would become a huge advocate in favor of medical marijuana."

The more CBDS or THC levels if my anxiety level is up. I want to move home to the east . Government needs to listen to the PEOPLE and legalize it. People have a right to use the medicine that works and live where they want . It's been approved since 1975 for medical use. Really President Obama, how much more do disabled and I'll people have to suffer before the government does what's right."

During different types of my treatments especially nausea and chronic pain I found that the pills got me cigarette times but never did the medicinal marijuana ever get me sick on the contrary it you should he took away all of my nausea.. Unfortunately the federal government has control over this in certain states and thank God that half of the United States of America has a ready legalized it.. This is over 60 years overdue people with chronic pain diabetes cancer AIDS glaucoma multiple sclerosis and even L a S should have access to medicinal marijuana and paid by the federal government... What I used to take in medications close to 10 years ago was an excess of six to $8000 monthly... How much money would I be saving the government every month if I was able to use creams bombs infusions cannabis oil cannabis candy different things to take my pain away I guarantee you I would even be close to less than 800$ a month just saying that's my opinion and hopefully people understand my point of view and as I said it's just my point of you"

"First and foremost, marijuana needs to be removed from the schedule one list of drugs so that more research can be done and published and we can all be educated with the truth. From what I have read from what I believe to be very legitimate sources, marijuana has has tremendous possibilities to be used successfully in the field of medicine and in multiple facets. Let's remember that most of the major pain relievers in use for years and still in use today are derivatives of opium from the opium poppy and they are deadly, as are alcohol and tobacco! We need to look at marijuana scientifically and as a possible new amazing medicine that can be used to help numerous Illnesses rather than just as a social drug."

"I have used marijuana over 30 years with no health problems except some gum and tooth loss. After battling with alcohol since the age of 12, marijuana is a safer alternative, and greatly helps me from relapsing back to the misery caused by alcohol. Marijuana allows me to avoid prescription drugs and the addiction and death associated with them. Over 100,000 Americans die every year from prescription drugs while marijuana remains at 0. I currently take no prescription or OTC drugs. I cured my skin cancer with oils from marijuana. I've lost so many friends to alcohol and chemical drugs I've lost count. I don't know anybody that died from using marijuana unless they were shot by the police for having some. Marijuana is illegal based on decades of lies from the government only to protect pharmaceutical, alcohol, tobacco and law enforcement revenue. The lies are being exposed and people are waking up that marijuana is a very safe, medically beneficial plant that should be available to everyone. I am very proud to be associated with this change and will fight for the truth until my feet hit the grave."

She's was in pretty bad condition and I was pretty sure we were going to lose her. I started her on the oil a month ago and her tumor markers have been progressively going down and the color of her skin is coming back. She looks and feels better. We both can't believe it and are feeling very grateful. She has not told her doctor for fear of not being treated by them. Shame on our medical establishment.

I also have used cannabis to get off the opiates prescribed to me after my hysterectomy. What a difference! When I was on the pharmaceutical prescribed pain killers, I did too much and it set me back a few weeks. It masked the pain too well. The cannabis allowed me to feel less pain yet know when to sit down and rest. I was pretty depressed at the time and it helped tremendously to lighten my mood. It's non toxic to the body, and since we have receptors in our body, it takes it in like food. I am thankful I live in Colorado where I can obtain it easily. We need to all be pro active in getting this legal all across America."

As a country we do this while allowing very dangerous and addictive drugs to be produced and filter into our communities. Alcohol and tobacco are good examples, not to mention the pain killer epidemic that is currently ruining many lives. I think a person should have a choice in how they are treated and with what substances. Marijuana would be the choice of many if available, instead of the chemicals that are being created and handed out."

"Well, as far as marijuana goes, it may work with medicine. After all, Alternatives have succeeded where traditional medicine has failed. It is still in its infancy, and has shown to be potentially good for society. After all, the FDA only protects pharmacy profits, not the society. Unfortunately, rehabs centers are privatized and probably traded on the NY Stock Exchange. Think about it. They always push medication, and not try to do things the right way. People suffer side effects such as neurological, cognative, speech impediments due to hearing loss, and the worst, have to take ADDITIONAL MEDICATION, because of the side effects of the previous ones. It is sad. If marijuana is used in oil and edible form, being legalized, it just might work for people, and people might actually get better.

It is worth a try, right? And this is from a NEUTRAL stand point, so it could be something people may agree with. After all, you can get addicted to ANYTHING. The real question is, as far as addiction, do people have a physical addiction, or a psychological dependence on it. Which is worse, right? But again, that can be to ANYTHING. Peace out."

However, that's going against 5,000+ years of recorded history, in which this PLANT has been used medicinally. You have numerous cultures, both modern and ancient, that realize the value of marijuana for medicinal reasons. Who are we to all of a sudden argue with recorded history? Who are we to decide that this all of a sudden has "no" value, when a vast swath of recorded history says otherwise? Shame on us thinking we're "superior" to history."

"I have suffered from migraines for over ten years. As many migraine sufferers I have not been able to pinpoint the cause. It is a debilitating affliction and like many I live in fear of the next attack. I have been prescribed Imitrex and due to side affects am limited to its use. If the imitrex does not work the only other option I have is to take pain pills and hope I can sleep it off. On a visit to the Northwest I was stricken with an attack. As the medication wore off and migraine returned I was limited on what to do. I was offered marijuana (it is legal) and decided to try it. To my surprise it had a positive affect and I was able to enjoy the rest of my trip. I have used it as a back up since that time and have had about a 70% success rate. Although it is not a cure it does have a positive affect with limited side effects. A little laughter sure beats lying in bead with a knife in my head"

It helps with anxiety and depression and has been used for centuries. There's no reason it should be illegal. It is a plant for gods sake. It is more useful in its natural state than tobacco and alcohol will ever be,"

"Cannabis is non-addictive. What people are considering addiction is the dependence they have on the relief that cannabis brings them. There is no direct chemical dependence associated with cannabis.

Prohibition is the main issue at hand. Prohibition brings money into the equation and money means contamination. Massive contamination, in the case of cannabis. Health issues? No, we have contamination issues related to cannabis, not health issues.

You can track every health issue related to cannabis back to contaminates and prohibition.

Prohibition has bred the CBD out of cannabis and made it rather easy to have a manic episode, the same as with marinol use.

High CBD cannabis actually improves memory, motor skills, mood control, focus, attention span, pain tolerance and so much more.

Educate yourself fully regarding cannabis and you always vote in favor of lowering restrictions on it. The more you know, the fewer restrictions you believe it should have.

Educate yourself and help educate your neighbors! :)"

My thing is, the cons that are involved with marijuana are not major.
If marijuana leads to other illegal drugs, Do you ever think that cigarettes may lead to marijuana ?
Why are cigarettes legal, If they give you cancer & y'all are working so hard to put a stop to cigarettes ?
MARIJUANA IS NOT CRACK !! Its not even that bad . If DC and California can legalize marijuana , and nothing bad has yet to happen , whats the problem. In order for some of us people to stop marijuana , we need a legit reason to stop. So far as im concerned, i can walk in a straight line while high. At the end of the day, id rather do marijuana than other drugs, cigarettes, alcohol ect."

Yet, I haven't seen the massive loss of common sense that some parties predicted before 2012's I-502. The black market for marijuana is down a large amount, crime rates are dropping. The federal government should drop the pretense that marijuana use is dangerous and should look to the precedents set by Washington and Jefferson, who grew cannabis on their property while leading our amazing country."

"Unfortunately, with people using the "abuse" arguments, is that they don't realize that people don't police themselves saying "I know I have an addictive personality", or "I am the person who has that kind of thing", and not know when to say "enough", or "no." Once that part is resolved, people can throw away the addiction argument. First, people have to police themselves and tell themselves when enough is enough. We don't need the federal government to be mom and dad, disciplining us. We have to be able to say no when it is right. If people learn to police themselves, then there will be less addicts out there, but marijuana could be beneficial to people with certain ailments. After all, before modern medicine was imposed on us, people used other forms of medicine, and there was never a story of addiction, or problems. Now, the federal government stepped in, and did their bull****, and look what has happened. Western medicine has made some generation of addicts and people who are basically messed up, because of both the FDA, and the other things in our lives. Traditional medicine has failed on many levels, but what can you do, right? Hopefully things will change one day. Boo me if you want, but you know I am right. Peace out."

The side effects from cannabis are less than that of many other medicines already approved by the FDA. One can listen to television commercials any day of the week, and see pleasant scenery and nice music while terrible side effects of new pharmaceutical drugs are read off in a long list. Cannabis is a safe and effective alternative medication especially in terms of providing some pain relief, in terms of reducing anxiety, and reducing depression among others."

I shattered my spine in an automobile accident which lead to a spinal fusion and subsequent seizure disorder. Knowing my family history of dependency I refused prescription narcotic pain relievers out of the fear I would end up like other family members dependent on them and abusing them by taking more than prescribed therefor I would occasionally consume marijuana when away from my children to control the pain. I have also found that in the times I was under the influence of marijuana I did not have nearly as many seizures; whereas, without marijuana I have up to ten seizures daily which medication has little control over."

I wake up in a huge amount of pain, nausea from the pain & I must lay there for my meds,(painkillers & a relaxer) to kick in before I can move. Now,I take a couple puffs on cannabis, & I'm good to go in 10 min. I don't get ridiculously high, there's no point, I'd rather smoke a little cannabis, then suffer because my meds are addictive, & they don't clear the pain completely. In conclusion, Cannabis Vs yet another addictive pill? I'll go with cannabis & a couple pill to take care of breakthrough pain, & I'm good... I was even able to stop morphine because of cannabis! If only NEVADA would get with the program, & the rest of the country...people that are hurt or suffering or need some stress relief, it helps them a great deal...I'd say that's a good thing!! And no, it's not a gateway drug!! If you have half a brain & decent will power! Anyone that moves up the chain from that, they made their choice all on their own, with their big girl/boy pants on!! We know how it works, side effects, etc for over 30 - 40 years now! It's safer alternative than alcohol & more effective. This is my OPINION ONLY, If anyone reads this, & they learn something great!"

"I am pro for medical marijuana because, it can help in very many ways. Some people are having constant seizures and do not even know their own family brother son etc. Medical marijuana can stop that though and it can stop epilepsy there are 1,000 of reasons why it should be legal. It can destroy cancer cells and no one likes cancer and everyone wants it to be gone out of this world right? So why not legalize the alternative to the cure marijuana even if it wont completely cure it, it will stop it destroy the cells or slow it down. There are endless possibilities why it should be legal. It should not be legal for recreational use though. People may say they are in pain and need the marijuana but the doctors need to do research before they do that. They shouldn't just prescribe to anyone that says there in pain because then that would practically be making it legal for recreational use and, that's not why it needs to be legal it needs to be legal for medical purposes only and get rid of cancer, epilepsy, seizures if it can do all this stuff why wont the government make it legal I all states. No one knows but them and they need to make it legal really fast and quick before its to late and a lot of people start having cancer, seizure."

We the people need to rule our country & our lives! Vote to legalize marijuana! Help us help ourselves!"

"The components of marijuana, Tetrahydrocannabinol, Dronabinol and nabilone have been proven to be effective to treat symptoms of diseases like multiple sclerosis, cancer, AIDS, and epilepsy. They also help patients that are undergoing chemotherapy and decrease the side effects of nausea and vomiting. The legalization in 23 States including the State of Columbia show the attitude towards the use of medical marijuana and also the potential to develop remedies that can be helpful to treat severe illnesses."

"As someone who suffers from a chronic painful disease, and has no relief from the ultimately toxic FDA approved drugs, I am strongly for legalization. The drugs I take cause liver and kidney disease and failure over time, because of this I have to see multiple doctors and have multiple test just to check the health of these organs--all because of FDA approved drugs. As for the concern of getting others high with your prescription, many strains are used for edibles, not smoking and do not produce the "high" of street drugs. They are designed for pain relief as well as relieving symptoms of many other illnesses. There are many resources and studies done that prove the effectiveness of marijuana. I also know folks who have access to medical marijuana and one person in particular has amazing relief for her bipolar disorder (lives in CO.) and no longer needs the toxic FDA approved meds which have worse side effects than the marijuana. My hope is that it will be ultimately approved at least as a medicine nationwide. What many don't understand is with chronic pain many are put on opioids which by the way are very addictive and expensive. Side effects are horrible and require more drugs to relieve side effects-a vicious cycle."

I'm only 18 years old and I have never been so depressed in my life at that point in time, I laid in bed, I got sick all of the time, I lost friends and I didn't want to be here anymore as soon as I found out about medical cannabis I wanted to give it a try, the first time I tried it I was so relieved, my back didn't hurt and it got better and better each day, I finally got the spirit to get up and go back to physical therapy, I believe that medical cannabis saved my life, I am back to myself! Please legalize, everyone needs to know what amazing things this plant can do. Also, if you have never tried it please don't judge it."

My way of killing the pain is through Marijuana. Every time that I have told the truth to the doctors to let them know what works and what doesn't for my body I was given the boot. No one no doctor wants to work with a person who is using cannabis even though it is for a medical reason. Sorry to say I really don't care how other people use it, as long as it's healthy. And from what I have gone through I laugh at the commercials when they tell the risk of taking their medicine. It is comical that they would tell us how harmful it is, but not listen to how important cannabis is in more in over the World. I will no longer hide behind a wall, my home, my face, nor my name, to hide that I am in need this medication, or I surely will die!! Thank you for listening!!!"

"I strongly believe it should be a medical option. The medical properties in the plant can help with many conditions some of which we have no cure for . Yes it can be a gateway drug but only if you abuse it and use it beyond the necessary need but that is like every drug such as Vicodin or OxyContin ect. I read one of the cons being that marijuana caused their kid to go in a path that killed him but was he using it medicinally or as a drug any perscription drug is dangerous if you use it excessively. If you're against marijuana just because of the gateway factor think any drug is a gateway drug really. Medical marijuana isn't just used to smoke you can create healing sav the targets back, knee, join pain ect. A lot of people are focusing on the few negative factors of it and that's why they're against it but they are so many positive ones. Pictures this a girl as sleep anosmnia no sleep medications are working so she starts using medical marijuana and she gets 7 hours of sleep witch may not seem like much except the most sleep she has gotten in one night I'm 3 months is 4 hours ,now it seems like a medicine, now it seems good."

I've seen some "Pro" comments in this thread, and I am honestly distraught by people's thoughts, saying they want to legalize it not for medical purposes, but because it's "fun" to be under the influence. It's "fun" to be high.

Medical marijuana shouldn't be used for that. It should be used for people with serious illnesses and diseases, not for personal pleasure. Hopefully people think this way."

For the past couple of years, he struggled with words as we all do then two months ago, he essentially fell off a cliff in one week so no, this was not a gradual, get used to it, progression. This was sudden and shocking. Two years ago, there was an article in Huffington Post "Low Doses Of Marijuana Compound Could Slow Or Stop Progression Of Alzheimer's". Four days ago another article, "Marijuana Compound Removes Alzheimer's-Related Protein From Nerve Cells" discussed findings from a new study. I challenge anyone who is against medical marijuana to say 'no' to me personally as an individual and not hide behind an excuse or a group. Pretend you live in a rural area with limited or no resources. I have neuropathies, migraines, my MRI report is literally 16 pages long. I have several health issues that ruin my life, chronic pain everyday. I never sleep. It bothers me to complain. Sometimes it just gets really difficult, and I am tired of taking opiate analgesics, but all other options are exhausted. I cannot stand being married to these expensive medications. I also have heart damage which gets a lot worse because my BP goes way up on bad days, and I am at the point where I would try the marijuana, if there is even a chance to help with some of this. My headaches are severe, and I am just in constant pain even with high dose analgesics, I would have to consume it because I cannot smoke, but I read it works that way too. From what I understand it will be legal in my state soon. It seems stupid to me that you cannot buy a plant. Has anyone had experience with marijuana and severe chronic pain? If you have had any success, or negative experiences, I am interested to hear about either. I am only 37, I just want some quality of life back, and live my life. Thank you."

"Absolutely yes, I have multiple mylenoma, for the last eight years. For the first three years, all my doctor's pushed Opiates. At the end of the third year I was a full blown Heroin addict, buying Heroin off the streets of Portland Oregon. I dropped to less than 130lbs, angry to everyone. I quit that Thanksgiving cold turkey,10 day's of living hell. For the last 5yrs I have only used medical marijuana. I have started chemotherapy last week and have been given percocet and fighting not to take them. One at night helps to sleep. But I'm scared to fall back to bad habit. I have to pay for my marijuana, but I feel more comfortable with it and a lot less stress. No withdrawals????"

"Marijuana:in my opinion is one of the most over criticized herbs in history. Hemp has been a very good product for centuries. Clothing, paper, sails, rope, spice, shelter, medicine, and grows faster than wood, less ecological damage, and you can run your car on the oil. Reefer madness, and not being able to tax something that grows naturally ,is why it was made illegal. I couldn't function today if it wasn't for pot. I would have died four years ago of opiate addiction, on some street corner. Or worse, in jail, like my 25yr old youngest son, with a TBI @16,now heroine addicted, homeless, going schizophrenic from the drugs. Not knowing right from wrong. !!! Garibaldi pothead. But, marijuana that comes from the earth and can be grown just like any fruit or vegetable is illegal. Makes me question our government and their reason that it is illegal. Maybe because they cannot control it and control the amount is grown by someone at home that will use it for medical purposes."

He will die in a short time. Shouldn,t it be his decision whether or not he uses it for pain relief and possibly more? I have chronic pain due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. Shouldn't it be my decision if I want to try some oral form to relieve my pain? There is no evidence that it won't work or that it will harm me. That is the problem. It cannot be reasonably studied unless it is made legal for medical use."

"Marijuana should be available to all with severe pain, not limited to only certain medical conditions as States see fit. A lot of synthetic drugs do not work for high numbers of people, why make fake when there are plants. Medicine began with plants, There are other delivery systems than smoking it. What is their alternative? There is none, they are forced to accept Lortab, etc. that do not work for their conditions or are considered refusing to comply with physicians orders. This causes yet another problem for persons with painful conditions. They have to suffer pain constantly, forced into taking an addicting drug just to satisfy their physician, and the State if they have applied for SSD. What kind of country lets their poor go hungry, live in squalid conditions, and forces them to live in physical pain? Our country, the good old USA, who's citizens know that Government does not care nor work in the best interest of "We the people.""

How much of my life cold I have back going thru 24/7 pain maybe cutting my meds in half to lead a better day, week, month and year. I have been to the best clinics for 30 years yet never once was treatment an option for me. So instead, I get treated like a junkie. I would give it all back, I don't even want them, for one day without pain. Society is so quick to judge, label and pt s i one pile. I dare you to walk a day in my shoes. I have never like marijuana when I was young and it was cool. I felt like I was no longer in full control so, obviously I was not a drinker either. Now that the Doctors have put me on Disability, there is no reason for full control but maybe some relief. I should be able to try. I have NO quality of life, like this, so whats the point."

They tried medications, they either made him sick, or he slept 20 hours a day, or they made his anger intensify. Learning was a real struggle. I started giving him pot to smoke at 16 and a whole new world emerged for him. he very seldom gets angry, he can think cause it makes things slower so he can focus. he watches UTube and learns all about science, black holes, dwarf stars. And he remembers every single minor detail. He wants to run a forge to make things of Iron. He not only learned how to build one, but how to make the charcoal. and he listens to all kinds of things and he never forgets any of it. He is amazing and all because of the marijuana. It has given my son a life he can understand and learn to cope in. All because of weed that has been used for medical purposes all around the world for many centuries. They never regulate the rest of herbal medicines so why do they have to argue about harmless natural herb. They have no problem giving morphine or any opoid that destroys our bodies and they argue about an herb that heals. It stupid."

"If people don't know, marijuana is a drug. It's a gateway drug to me. If it wasn't a drug. Then why do people abuse it take it more then there supposed to. Marijuana is an addiction. Something that is addicted like marijuana is a drug. People who do it obviously will be against it. But it's just another way to deny it. I am just here to explain my facts. Marijuana for a lot of people make a whole lot of other people want to move on to a harder core drug. It happens it happened to people in my family. It burns your brain cells. Almost every cell in your body. So please tell me how is that good for you. If you didn't know for the people who do it. It makes dysfunctional later in the years. It did to my uncle. Pot should not be used as a medical issue because if it was so good for you. People don't need to keep taking it over and over and over everyday of your life. The way people talk about it makes you all look stupid. I'm sorry I am just stating the facts and this is my opinion. I'm just saying marijuana isn't the best thing for you. It messes with you head, loss of concentration. It happens to a lot of people in this world. Kids are taking it and your brain isn't even fully developed. Just think about what your doing to your body"

You can't be addicted to THC, it's not physically possible; however, you can mentally become addicted to it with overuse of the substance. You also can't pass a mental addiction, or any addiction at that to a child through birth. Now it is true that the use of cannabis does damage under developed brains, but so does alcohol, which is legal! We have laws to keep those kinds of things from happening, but as everyone knows, there is people out there that chose not to follow some laws. Also, why would you condemn the use without THC, the THC is what the medical purpose comes from."

In society the families that vote yes will certainly be creating a different way of life and will reflect on how children are raised. I was raised in a house with blue smoke from tobacco and thought it was normal. I wonder what will happen to the generation that is growing up in a pot smoke filled home, which is very concerning because this drug will mess with the brain.
I do believe, life threatening illness, a better way to probably die, is not clenching your fists, but on a drug high that can relieve your death….but there are prescription drugs for that as well.
I do believe that medical marijuana should be used only in medicinal ways, and not being exploited like it is. Studies are still being researched but it is hard to say where they are with this conclusion, will cbd alone help with the pain?
Do I think the marijuana plant is good? Yes it probably can help, with oinments and salves as they say, just like other herbs that can help. "You are asking the wrong question. I don't care if cancer patients or patients with AIDS or someone with another debilitating illness that causes them pain relieves that pain with medical marijuana. What I DO care about is the fact that dispensaries all over the place are dispensing "medical marijuana" to addicts who simply want to get high. And many of these "patients" get in their cars and drive home (or where ever) and are high as a kite when they're behind the wheel. I completely object to children being exposed to marijuana (medical or otherwise)--and know perfectly well that the "high parent" is not an attentive parent who is adequately cognizant of his/her responsibilities. Also, having "medical marijuana" in the home leaves the door wide open for children to have access to it directly--or be psychologically induced to use it on their own in the future. No one should have to ingest anyone else's second hand smoke--whether it's from a cigarrete or from a joint. I haven't met too many people who use marijuana who necessarily care whether or not what they are doing is impacting or affecting others around them--particularly older people and/or children. Employees who use medical marijuana should never be stoned at work!"

"People are force fed Lortab, etc. to comply with doctors. These drugs are addicting, so its better to force feed synthetic drugs that cause addiction and do not work for a lot of pain conditions? Do some research into why Marijuana was made illegal in the first place, remember the "Just Say No" program has done nothing to stop the use of very dangerous drugs such as heroin, cocaine, crack and meth. People die every day from the use of these drugs and prescribed medicines by overdosing as what was prescribed is a dose that no longer works. Plants are the first medicines man ever used, what do you say to a person who has taken synthetic medication for a particular problem for years and still has no relief from symptoms only to find out there is a small fraction of medication in the pills manufactured? Taking useless medication and paying for it, what do you think that person should do?"

"Medical marijuana lacks FDA approval.Although it is used for medicine and specific dosages are given, it is easy to consume too much, which can harm a patient greatly. For a drug to be legal and marked as beneficial, it has to be tested many times with hundreds to thousands of human subjects. However, there have only been a few tests made and within the data that the government does have, here is a lack of consistent, scientific data proving the benefits, so it is risky to use. Some of the health risks are that it impairs ones thinking and memory, lowers reaction times, increases the risk of heart attack, heightens the risk of getting respiratory infections, suppresses the immune system, makes one potential for withdrawal symptoms, and causes depression. Too little research has been done on using marijuana as medicine, and the results are unstable. Although there have been positive effects, there is still too much risk involved and may have more disadvantages than advantages. For example, a cancer patient may use cannabis as medicine, not knowing that it is altering his/her brain and sense of balance or memory. However, with the amount of information that the United States has so far, it would be boorish to legalize it now."

"The side of effects of alcohol are far worse. Marijuana does not have to be smoked, it can be ingested, nebulized or used as a topical rub.
Marijuana has been used for thousands of years, up until 60 years ago it was a common weed grown on all 7 continents like a dandelion weed, In fact you could purchase it over the counter at your local pharmacy. Marijuana has been used and studied longer than any pharmaceutical. The reason it's not legal is pharmaceutical lobbyist.
The only report deaths are those who have a sever allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).
Yes it makes people lazy, alters their reaction time, and short term memory but so does Benadryl (sold over the counter), so does melatonin, camel mil and many more.
Marijuana is life saving for the right patient.
It should be regulated and there should be consequences if it's used while driving, or at work.
It should be legal and we should tax it. Think of the revenues that your state could benefit from. That money could go to our school system to raise teacher pay, get our country out of debt and much, much more.
You have to choose between kids taking pharmaceuticals or marijuana, marijuana is the safer choice."

"Marijuana is a total gateway drug--it is a DRUG and anyone who uses, sells or embraces drug use is a danger and a drain on society. They begin small; but always find a way to push the envelope further to include growing, selling and before we know it; all neighbors are drug-users, sellers or friends of and whether we like it or not, we are forced to be subjected to drug living--having homeless addicts come and go in our neighborhood because all the other neighbors either use or sell themselves or are afraid to say something that may offend neighbors that do. Theft is rampant& I heard a child under 12 years of age tell his parents that this neighborhood is no longer safe to live in due to drug use, drug visitors and DRUGS, period! It's sad when a child under 12 years can spot unhealthy living and is afraid in his home or neighborhood. In a small environment like our trailer court or mobile home park-we are constantly bombarded with drug use, drug selling and drug-seeking homeless deviants that only have one goal in life--to get drugs at the exclusion of all else--including the innocent people they prey upon and use in their quest for getting more drugs. I know these things because this was my life before I was saved from addiction!"

So are these people a drain on society? These "druggies"? They fall into addiction because the doctor says these drugs are ok. Pharmaceuticals have so many side effects, they will make your head spin. And it is close minded thinking that stops people from getting relief from a plant. Not a drug. Do some research with an open mind. Look up the side effects of Lyrica, a drug used for seizures. Then look up the side effects of marijuana when used for seizures. Educate yourself before you start yelling about DRUGS. Research what happens to a treatment that actually helps instead of masking the problem."

"Yes. Medical marijuana is a large help to cancer treatments and more but that isn't the problem. How easy is it to gain much a drug? You walk in, complain about a back pain which won't go away and you can be prescribed such a drug after a simple security check. Not only is this easy to obtain, it's a gateway drug for parties and an easy abuse.
I had multiple kids, my age, who had to undergo such a scary thing with their parents getting into marijuana for medical and enjoyment reasons. Both ended badly. Let me point out that every human body is different and reacts in different ways with different stuff. Drinking and Allergies are only one example. Drugs are no exception to the human body. Results of medical purposed marijuana comes out inconsistent. Why risk such a thing on an easy pain which some strong medical drug can easily obtain? The rest should be self-explanatory.

It seems that by just having some lower back problems can get you a card these days and that can be dangerous. The people that claim to have back issues can sometimes not actually have pain and just use the card to smoke and not get caught. This brings a bad reputation to card holders that actually use marijuana to ease their pains. States that allow medical marijuana needs to develop a better plan for stricter rules on getting a card. Card holders who don’t use marijuana for medical reasons often sell to people who want to smoke which cause a problem for the public. If the government and medical associates can figure out a better plan to permit card holders than medical marijuana can expand throughout the country and benefit those in proper need. Until then, medical marijuana should not be permitted because it is too easily accessed and falls in the hands of average people to easy."

As far as 'pro' legalization being behind the legalization, isn't that one in the same? I mean, who do you think is behind legalization if not the 'pro' legalization people? What exactly are you skeptical about? That makes no sense. It's like saying that you're skeptical about Pepsi retailers wanting Pepsi to be legal.
Do you know what makes me skeptical? The fact that the FDA isn't acknowledging the useful benefits of cannabis. Why aren't they?
If you don't question the benefits of cannabis then why wont the FDA reschedule it out of Class 1, where meth and heroin reside?
Working backwards from your comment, maybe cannabis provides relief to folks with psychosis, which is why you're seeing a correlation in cases with smokers with symptons. If only the FDA would allow proper scientific studies we would know more about how this works. But alas, they sit on their hands and keep the drug war going. How else can they justify paying the DEA $70,000,000 a day??"

"When you educate yourself on the psychological effects of CBD you will realize why there is an increase in psychosis.

Prohibition pressures have literally been breeding the CBD out of cannabis strains, resulting in the most commonly used strains having 1% or less CBD.

This is the same thing as using high amounts of marinol, synthetic thc without any terpenes or additional cannabinoids.

When your kids with psychosis issues start using high cbd cannabis, all those issues will go away. Period.

Number 1... the only reason people SMOKE cannabis is because it's too freaking expensive through prohibition. Those of us that are free to grow and use it without restrictions always move to eating cannabis in some form or other, drastically reducing the 'smoking' to more of a pleasure based activity.

Your opinions are based on your awareness, which comes from a position of prohibition biased information streams. Those of us with the freedom to use cannabis are beginning to know and share the truth.

Educate and free the people. Free cannabis."

"Medical marijuana should not be legalized because not everyone is going to use it for pain relief. It does have it's uses and is apparently good for relieving pain. But there are still the drug dealers that can get ahold of it and distribute it to anyone. Marijuana is a gateway drug which can and probably will lead to more serious drugs in teens and adults. Also, there is no way of telling if the person is actually in pain or if they just want some marijuana for smoking purposes. Marijuana is just junk and if someone is in pain, they can always take a pain killer or something other than marijuana. The last thing we need is the legalization of a drug in the disguise of a medical tool. When you hear marijuana, you think of drugs, not medical stuff. If people are able to get this stuff with something as simple as a card which is apparently easy to get, you can bet everyone is going to start having "back pain". Look at Denver. That state legalized marijuana and everyone is just hanging around on the streets smoking it. There is no way if marijuana is legalized that it will just be used for it's medical purposes. Marijuana has no medical purposes. It's just an excuse for people to get marijuana. The stuff is a gateway drug"

"Medical Marijuana certainly has positive effects on users, increasing immune system function and increasing quality of life for those who suffer from diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Thus, with proper- heavy- regulation medical marijuana is positive. However, it's too accessible in its present form. It's too easy for someone to get a medical marijuana license by citing back problems and begin dealing the drug. Medical marijuana should only be provided to people with a serious need-- people with impairing and life threatening diseases that can be proven by a blood test. In addition, it should be provided by dispensaries rather than made available for "patients" to grow the drug.
Because for those who lack more serious health problems, marijuana has negative effects on users and society. Not only is it proven to cause lackadaisical behavior that limits potential for productivity, but the gateway effect (studies show that most drug users started with cannabis) leads to the use of hard drugs that incite violent behaviors."

"Tommy, you sound like you just read a brochure from the gov propaganda dept! Want to talk about 'gateway drugs'? You can start with tobacco and alcohol. Did you know that cannabis makes people feel mellow and happy? Just the opposite of what you fear! Legal alcohol, on the other hand, make people act reckless and violent!
If it's too accessible in it's present form don't you think that maybe we should try taking it off the black market and regulating it? I do! If you lived in chronic pain that was only relieved by cannabis what would you do? Live your life in pain or break the law and smoke cannabis? Cannabis is not illegal for public health reasons. It is illegal for political reasons. As you so accurately stated it does have positive effects on people who need it. Whether it's legal or not users will use it and non users wont. The only question is who will get the money? Mexican drug cartels or the US economy?"

Traditional drugs don't work or, if they do, the side effects prevent me from functioning. My brother suffers from the same condition I do and he has used marijuana for years. He is not an addict. He has a technical, highly demanding job that he is very good at. Narcotics left him dopey and unable to work at all. So which one of these has a "negative effect on users and society"?"

"No. marijuana is bad for you, i don't understand why people haven't been taught in gradeschool that marijuana is one of the prime drugs that is damaging for the lungs and affects the brain. there are several other cons to the drug but the main worry is the lungs. yes, the drug is smoked. it affects the lungs the same way a cigarette does. Don't just use this opportunity as an excuse to get high for fun. we all know that this is the only thing they want. this is a terrible idea because no child wants to grow up and spend their life in a city where you can pick up some pot in a pharmacy. this is an easy way for anyone to have access to the drug, with or without any medical problems. this debate needs to be overlooked. there are so many things people haven't thought about.

there is absolutely no logic in legalizing a drug that just hurts the lungs and possibly worsens the problem. It isn't even fully proven that this drug even helps major sicknesses, so why would anyone take the risk?? I'm sorry for my opinion but I am a very logical and thinking person. this is a terrible idea. don't ruin the future."

It's non toxic, and works instantly. I can only think those who are against it are working for the pharmaceutical industry or have swallowed the reefer madness-madness. Thank God there are studies being done in America even though it has been studies since the 80's in Israel and Spain. National Geographic, Newsweek and more main stream media are reporting it as a legitimate medicine and millions of people have testimonials how it has helped them. Enough with the "it's bad for you" nonsense."

"That's not true at all though. Effects of Marijuana Smoking on the Lung by Dr Donald Tashkin is a study that covered 20 years and over 5000 patients and found that the only harm caused by marijuana smoking is bronchitis - inflammation of the throat caused by the hot air you're inhaling, which results in increased mucus and coughing and goes away shortly after you cease burning your throat.

No cancer. No lung disease. Better lung function in some cases.

Why the demonization of cannabis? It's far less harmful than alcohol for recreational use, and it is proven to help many things.

I suppose you enjoy seeing cancer and AIDS patients suffer? How about little children dying of seizures? MS patients in terrible spasms and pain? Even if it was only creating a placebo effect (it's not), who are you to tell another human being what they can do with their own body?"

Cannabis IS medicine, or was until outlawed in 1937, and still is to those who use it to their benefit. There have been no recorded deaths from cannabis, and in a few situations there is no other medicine that works as well, or it is the 'least bad' of other medicines. Think of what it will do to our children inhaling second hand smoke. It slows the brain down where people don't function in a normal way. Their ambition slows down. Even if medical marijuana passes with all the laws and stipulations you know there will always be people that find a way to get the drug by falsifying an aliment to a physician such as lower back pain etc. I hope for the future of our children this bill never passes."

Yes, if you use marijuana all day every day, you probably won't have much motivation, but that's not how most people who use it recreationally use it. Most people use it the same as alcohol, to unwind after a hard day of work or over the weekend. And it comes without the liver damage and potential other chronic health problems that come with alcohol. And once again, you do NOT have to smoke it. There are plenty of edible options."

I would rather have a doctor stand in the way of my kid accessing cannabis like kids can right now on the black market. Do you think that sellers check ID now? Right now you don't even have to falsify an ailment. Right now there's NOTHING standing between kids and weed. In fact it's the kids that are selling it! I want it unavailable to kids! Legalization is the only way to make that happen. And if you're worried about second hand smoke then don't smoke in front of your kids and they wont have to deal with any."

Things people take for granted like being able to eat solid food or not having panic attacks and migraines every day are allowed to have a higher quality of life thanks to this.

Alcohol and Tobacco deaths are about 500,000 DEAD EVERY YEAR due directly to use of these drugs. And yes, they ARE DRUGS. That is 1 in every 5 deaths being due to alcohol or tobacco.

How many deaths from marijuana do you think there are? Have you ever heard of anyone you know, or someone they know dying from marijuana? It does not happen.

This is for an array of reasons, one being that I am sure that there are other drugs someone can use to relieve their pain of whatever ails them. Use a drug that is less harmful to your system. There is not consistent scientific evidence that supports the use of medical marijuana for any type of illness. There are better more useful drugs on the market that can help you with sicknesses. Why use such a controversial and addictive drug? Why use a drug that causes such havoc and disagreement in our society? Marijuana is very horrible for a persons immune system. Not to mention is highly addictive. Also, by making this drug legal in numerous states, this shows the teen generations and generations before them that using such a drug is okay. It breaks the social norm that drugs are bad."

Not only are these chemically filled drugs terrible for your body, they are also extremely addictive. Also, you call marijuana addictive.. It isnt. Studies have shown that emotional and mental dependence is the only real argument for addiction as it is not physically addictive. Also, have you looked into how this 'disagreement in our society' was started, William Randolf Hearst.. blah.. blah.. It should not have been banned in the first place and we need correction to the laws now before the 'disagreement' can be settled. The first 40million dollars from colorado recreational sales go directly to public education. Also, drugs ARE bad.. cocaine, heroine, pills, even tobacco and alchohol. "The economy will definitely benefit directly from marijuana. The only problem is that drugs such as weed can easily make people need to rely on it. Just like alcohol in the early 1900s or opium in early China, drugs and alcohol make people lazy. During the early 1900s in America, men were arriving to work drunk or not coming at all. This unproductivity does not help stimulate the economy but halt's our economic growth. Furthermore, the opium addiction that China faced in the 17th century had people relying on it to the point that there was a war that fought for opium. Next, weed is a definite gate way drug. Weed can lead people on to trying stronger substances like heroin. Say we were to legalize weed. In 10-50 years would be have to leaglize heroin as well. There has to be a point where we know when to hold our temptations. Cigarettes and alcohol kill millions of people. Whether that is lung cancer or drunk driving, do we really need another substance to kill more people?"

"Stanley it's not like we're going to ever "get rid" of the plant! It is a weed! It kills nobody, and no, it isn't for everyone or the lazy. In fact, the Opium Wars you speak of are alive and well today, with a billions-a-year business in opiate derivatives for common "safe, FDA-approved" drugs like Oxycodone.

In fact, much of today's Eastern "politics" is involved with it.
That marijuana is a "gateway drug" is a parroted statement almost always misleading, if not untrue. If it is a gateway drug, that is because after smoking it, or eating it, users realize they did not want to go rob a bank or start climbing up the walls. They realize they have been lied to by the authorities for the first time perhaps, all the the things they were told about the "devil weed" just weren't true. WHY would they lie and put these thoughts into peoples' heads?

To protect the existing order of drug distribution, i.e., doctor-pharmacist-Big Pharma (Merck, Phizer, etc.)-patient. Marijuana makes many of their pills unnecessary they know business would take a big hit. Even at high street prices you get more green medicine dollar for dollar than everything except perhaps baking soda and aspirin."

"How medical, is medical marijuana? It only takes back pain that won't go away to get a medical marijuana card, and in a state which is already struggling (RI), we do not need half the state high. To make my point very clear, it is obvious that by legalizing medical marijuana, you are legalizing marijuana for everyone. Marijuana since the 70's has been part of a high school student's culture, and is that a good thing? Marijuana is a gate way drug, it promotes bad qualities, and it makes you incapable of doing anything productive for society for a number of hours. Is it fair for someone who works hard, is productive, and therefore makes more money since they are not under any influences while working, to pay a higher percentage of taxes than someone who smokes marijuana, making them less capable of working and thus making less money? The whole medical marijuana is a joke, anyone can get a medical card. It is a bad influence on the youth, and it will rip the country apart by creating economic flaws. The people of America are already falling behind in knowledge compared to other countries, so how far would we fall if we were high?"

Furthermore a person doesn't have to smoke marijuana to feel it's effects.. Why keep a plant illegal that has the potential to solve many problems.. If it were legalized there would be a lot less environmental damage caused by "illegal grows" because they wouldn't have to hide it in a forest on national land. Why make drugs that imitate a plant that we could be using right now? It would make sense to make marijuana legal because it has all the health benefits a person could want."

"Hi Mike, I'd be glad to help you out. The few drugs that have been synthesized to be like marijuana or cannabinoid molecules include Marinol and Nabilone. They have not been found to be as effective by patients in medicinal marijuana states as ingesting cannabis preparations. Dr. Ronald Drucker explains why synthetic drugs based on naturally occuring phytonutrients are not as effective as the real thing in his book titled "The Code of Life." It is a short 200 page book available on line in .pdf format for you to read on your tablet or pc. Smoking we know is bad for us, as we know it causes lung cancer. However, smoking cannabis itself does not increase the potential for getting lung cancer. In fact there has never been a documented case of anyone dying from ingesting cannabis in any form, smoked or otherwise. How can I resolve issue? Why should I have to suffer significantly when he could take something else?"

The smell from marijuana would not be any more damaging to your lungs then the smell off a cigarette smoker's clothing or someone with strong perfume. I suggest you talk to your doctor, they may even suggest you begin to eat marijuana to help with your breathing problems or you carry an inhaler around since you can't outlaw smells from other people."

"You could be having a severe allergy reaction. This can sometimes become "life threatening" asthma. My granddaughter has been hospitalized several times from "life threatening" asthma from just being around areas where dogs have been or a similar condition exists. Sometimes people have to take charge of a situation to make sure their lives are obstructed by others. You can do this indirectly. There is a police "tip" line you can call and just say what you wrote. If no police number, call the highway patrol and ask them to pass the word on. Nobody will ever know you called. Never tell a buddy or friend you called. It's one of those things you set in motion, observe the result and let it go. Do a repeat call if it reoccurs. You could be training the police to do a better job. You could also rescue a person from a miserable life. You don't have to give your name. Do say the other persons name. He is in need of getting an education that his behavior is not acceptable. You are in need of a health environment. God Bless and take care."

"Medical marijuana should not be legal. Despite the fact that it may relieve some pain, there are many other safer FDA-approved medicines currently in the market that can achieve the same purpose. Smoked marijuana is dangerous, toxic, and unsafe for use. It damage different systems of the body, including the immune system. In 2014, the FDA backed up the federal government's decision to list marijuana in schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act. The FDA also said that marijuana has no "real additive medical benefit." They clearly stated that marijuana is harmful. It's not logical to use a substance that can cause a lot of potential harm in return for benefits that can easily be achieved with other medicines. Not only is this not logical, marijuana is addictive and can be used as a "gateway" drug to other more dangerous and highly addictive drugs, such as cocaine, heroin and ecstasy. Also, if medical marijuana were legalized as is has been in various states, it could be used as a cover for more recreational use, which is definitely illegal. Overall, the evidence is clear that marijuana is harmful and that there are better and more effective drugs, meaning medical marijuana should not be legalized."

"The FDA takes private monies from big pharma to fund the testing and approval of our medications. This is a major conflict of interest. FDA approved drugs, particularly Oxycontin, a man made hospital grade form of heroin, classified as Opiates, are currently neck and neck for deaths with methamphetamine and heroin. Don't let them fool you. FDA approval is about money, not our health. Beware of anything you are told to put into your body by anyone! The CDC shows that opiate overdoses are decreasing in states with MMJ. If the gateway theory were true, we would be seeing the opposite. The CDC also shows that in areas of states such as Washington where people have a lower socio-economic status and are therefore on state/federal health insurance they get prescribed methadone for pain control. This has been a travesty. Ever since they allowed methadone into the state formulary heroin has made a come back and so therefore has overdoses. No ones addiction issues can be laid at the feet of a single substance. It is choices that lead you down this path and bad information does not equal good choices. You can never legislate away addiction or people's choice of vice but we can wake up and treat addiction like the medical crisis it is."

"That's true of pretty much any medication. So, you want to take it out of the hands of people who are suffering because it 'might' fall into the hands of someone who isn't? And even if it does, it's much less damaging than cigarettes or alcohol. If you were to break your leg and while you were screaming in pain the doctor said, 'Sorry, can't give you anything for pain because some people might use it for something other than medical necessity.' how would you feel at that point? You're essentially saying that you don't care if it helps people because someone might have fun with it. Why don't you go see someone who is truly suffering sometime and sit with them for awhile. Be sure to let them know that you think that even though there's something that can help ease some of their suffering, you don't want them to have it because someone might get their hands on it and have fun with it."

"I understand what you mean. Many people -who do not need it- will use it just to get high. I would bet doctors will see many more people complaining of "chronic pain" or "anxiety" although thy have NO history of such things. The comments on here saying 'any drug can be abused' are all right but they're taking comments like yours way out of context. I understand what you mean and it's a valid concern. I see people abuse adderal all the time. They doctor shop and claim they have ADD even though they just want to lose weight or have extra energy for work. I think people who want weed for mental illness should be put on other antipsychotics first. Ones that don't make you high! I wish there was a drug test for Paxil, Wellbutrin, serequel, etc and they MUST try those other alternatives before being given pot. Also, I worry about these types of people giving all people with serious mental or physical problems a bad name. It undermines what's really going on with the patient who truly suffer from the illness's other 'pot heads' are claiming to have. I believe medical marijuana can be very beneficial to those who need it but I'm worried about all the frauds."

"The topic of the legalization of marijuana in our country is a hot one right now. Some say that it could lead to new medical advanced including cures for cancer, arthritis, and other life threatening diseases. Those who are against it argue that the side effects are unknown and we cannot publicize a product with unknown side effects. The bottom line is that The FDA, the CSA, and the FCC have all stated that this product is unstable and can cause severe damage to one's body including lung cancer, brain damage, heart disease, damage to the immune system, as well as many more if not used under a controlled environment. That is why to this day the product of marijuana has not been legalized among the entire country."

IT has been used for centuries, if there are any unknown side effects, they are unknown to most of you in this category. This plant is used FOR it's many "side effects". At the turn of the last century, it was used in over 40% of the tinctures and included in the United States Pharmacopeia, which dictates what substances doctors can prescribe in this country's health system. The study done in California (for over 5 years, following cancer patients, cannabis and tobacco smokers and the like) shows it does none of what you stated in your 'Bottom Line' statement. This product was vilified by a man who was tremendously racist, and ignorant about this plant. Back then, we didn't have the science to learn about and test the activity of this plant. We have been testing this plant in California since it was first decriminalized back in 1996. Everything Harry J. Anslinger said about cannabis which he starting calling marijuana, was a made up lie, and his people working under him were taking his garbage and spreading it gospel truth. "No, I don't believe marijuana should be a medical option, for several reasons.
When I was younger; one of my family members had cancer and was eventually put into hospice. My family thought that medical marijuana could help ease the pain of the cancer, and make it easier to eat, but were informed by the doctors that there were better and more efficient drugs for these problems.
Also, many of the widely renown effect of marijuana come from CBD, the compound of marijuana that is not responsible for promoting a psychoactive response. This is the compound that is used in the miracle stories about curing seizures. So instead of legalizing all of marijuana plant, psychoactive compounds included, it might be a better option to extract and use the truly medicinal part of the plant. This is similar to the theory currently used with opiates. Pure opium is illegal, morphine is not."

I am only fourteen years old and I can tell you right know that I know the effects it can have on you if you use it improperly. I also know that the parents of kids that go to my school give the drug to their kid for misuse. The kids use it at parties and to get high all the time. They even come to school smelling like it. If you don't think that all things that can be misused should be illegal then why do you think that this one thing should be? Even when marijuana is 'misused' it doesn't cause any real damage. At worst someone could get a buzz from it for awhile. Even though it can help people who are suffering and/or seriously ill, you think they should continue to suffer, to use strong chemicals w/ no other options, that destroy their organs over time.I have epilepsy, narcolepsy, major nerve damage, constant migraines and fibromyalgia and much worse issues. Basically, I'm in pain all the time,it is torture all the time and the struggle is constant. The meds will end up shutting down my liver and kidneys and I still continue to suffer nonstop even though there's a pretty harmless plant that could help me because some kids at your school get high? Personal relationships suffer because the user just doesn't have the ability to fully participate in them. When burnout is especially pronounced, the pot user may not be able to respond to other people at all. They are in their own world."

The Sativa strains do not have that effect, but rather are preferred for the alert and aware effects, of the mind and body. There are only three strains of cannabis, indica, sativa and ruderalis. Too many people spread incorrect information, due to a profound lack of knowledge, and a total belief that the government is totally telling the truth. The DEA is required by law to block and counter any and ALL attempts to change anything about the status of this God given plant. Our own bodies have the anandamide signaling system that takes advantage of the components in this plant. I hope this has helped you to at least, SEE that the government has an agenda to keep people in the dark about the only plant that naturally kills cancer cells, and restores proper function to the systems of the body (as long as our barbaric medical community has not destroyed them with chemo, or butchered the body with surgery)."

Eventually, street dealers will be out of business and all other businessmen have to account for their stock, pay their employees, stake out distribution centers and sell what the public is wanting in order to remain in business. Complete decriminalization for possession an usage is the main goal. Legalization is the first step in the right direction.
