"you can't die from marijuana! other drugs such as heroine, cocaine, Acid, and other one are so much more harmful. Not once has somebody died or OD'd on it like you said. It SHOULD be legalized. It's a choice whether someone has to take it, It will NEVER be a forced choice. this is so dumb because people are acting as if it will be a thing everybody with medical situations has to take. Yes, some people will have an addiction but that will be resolved by law makers and other crap."

"I am not a doctor; however I am a teacher with 42 years of experience and advanced degrees. I am also a licensed psychotherapist and a certified drug and alcohol counselor. As far as the medical doctors who prescribe medical marijuana---it's about the easiest thing in the world for a physician to write a prescription. They do not have to deal with the sociological aftermath of the prescriptions that they write, or the future repercussions of what the "medicine" they prescribe may do to the patient him or herself, not to mention the patient's immediate family members (including children)--or others over whom the patient has influence. Children learn what they live. If they are exposed to parents who are under the influence (for whatever reason/s)--then it affects those children for the remainder of their lives. Period. I grew up with a mother who was constantly prescribed psychotrophic drugs by her medical doctors. Often, many of these drugs were later found to be harmful to other parts of her body (such as her heart). She died at a very young age--in large part because of the many drugs she took throughout her life--all of which were "legal". I grew up in the sixties and seventies. Many of my friends took drugs and died."

"Well, as far as marijuana goes, it may work with medicine. After all, Alternatives have succeeded where traditional medicine has failed. It is still in its infancy, and has shown to be potentially good for society. After all, the FDA only protects pharmacy profits, not the society. Unfortunately, rehabs centers are privatized and probably traded on the NY Stock Exchange. Think about it. They always push medication, and not try to do things the right way. People suffer side effects such as neurological, cognative, speech impediments due to hearing loss, and the worst, have to take ADDITIONAL MEDICATION, because of the side effects of the previous ones. It is sad. If marijuana is used in oil and edible form, being legalized, it just might work for people, and people might actually get better.

It is worth a try, right? And this is from a NEUTRAL stand point, so it could be something people may agree with. After all, you can get addicted to ANYTHING. The real question is, as far as addiction, do people have a physical addiction, or a psychological dependence on it. Which is worse, right? But again, that can be to ANYTHING. Peace out."

"Is cannabis dangerous some say yes some say no but nobody really knows. There are argument about every little bit about it. Even know that there are people dying of cancer right now as you read this. But doctors can't help that much with the pain and the side effects of chemotherapy. They try and try to help but can't even know there is a plant out there that can. Who cares if someone uses it a little much you can't overdose and die. As long as the loved ones are at your side happy without pain why bother. If there happy there happy isn't that what the government is supposed to do. Let's stop researching other ways to stop cancer and research the plant that already helps get rid of cancer."

"That is a really good question. I know some people have tried just that. I can't remember what the said results were, but maybe it can be administered in other forms, such as oil, or whatever. As far as eating it goes, I've heard some people tried it, and I can't remember, but the results I believe they told me weren't all that different, but I am sure it would be something that can realistically be looked into. Anything can be a possibility. After all, in some area, hemp is used for food products, so it could just work. Maybe one day, in Colorado, they might try that, if they haven't already, right? There might be more pro for it, if people could try it. Good call.

Have a great 2017 and beyond."

But the medical marijuana has left many chidren cut from up to 200 seizures to afew to none at all! With out all the nasty side effects. States that try to restrict medical marijuana use should reconsider. It will save people 100s of millions in costly prescriptions every year. Marijuana use internally does not cause cancer."

"How many of anti people know that for 40 + years the NIH, using our tax dollars, financed marijuana research in Israel. Israeli citizens, thanks to our tax dollars, are recipients of legal marijuana. Israel has done extensive research on marijuana and our government claims we know nothing about it. Shame on them for holding back from their citizens how non-dangerous marijuana is for adults.
And those who say the FDA should study it shame on you too. The FDA allowed a drug that killed over 60,000 people before they acted to take it off the market. Read the warning labels on prescription drugs. Many of these legal drugs can kill you, or destroy your liver, kidneys, etc. and we have the audacity to say marijuana is dangerous.

I also wonder if these anti-marijuana people know that God created the endocannabinoid system in us as well as the herb, marijuana. Genesis 1-29 has a powerful message too about the plants and trees God created. Maybe you should read it."

Marijuana extracts can also be used to treat a variety of health issues and it is rather good a removing pain. Also if doctors have the ability to prescribe highly addictive opioids then why not the less addictive substances like marijuana that relieve pain. All of that being said those things do not mean that we should exclude marijuana from testing and getting approved by the CDC"

    Cannabis is a Herb/Plant not a drug!
Cannabis has been used for medicinal purposes for over 3000 years
Cannabis is not addictive! Addiction is a made up word so money can be made from it! By definition breathing is addictive!
Alcohol kills more people in accidents and health issues than all drugs combined.
    Alcohol was illegal before Cannabis.

"I am a patient with fibromyalgia. The medications I've been introduced to in my own treatments amounted to decades old anti depressants Commonly prescribed for off label use with fibromyalgia. They made me not care about the pain or anything else, and I was soon suicidal. My other option is lyrica, and you can watch a commercial to see why I may not be chomping at the bit to try it. Opposing arguments tend to make a big deal about the safety and efficacy of drugs prescribed to patients; Agreeing arguments point to opioids as how that's not nessisary true but I'd say that even the pills that have little to no addictive natures can have detrimental effects that you will never get from marijuana. I spent the better part of 2 years unable to move while trying conventional treatments. Weed gave me my life back. I can work full time (part time in the winter) instead of leeching off the government. I have most of the independence a healthy 22 year old has. So law or not, you absolutely cannot dispute the medical efficacy of something with the ability to restore life and Liberty to someone who by medical standards is disabled"

He has gone to nourmous drug addiction facilities several hospital stays. The 15 + meds blew his weight up to close to 300 lbs, he began to have a fatty liver had severe trimmers was put on meds to stop the shaking . I have had to fight for my son for his wellbeing for 26 years to find answers. My son took himself off all his meds cold turkey. He knew it was killing him. He knows marijuana helps him to have some sort of normal life but with his disorder it has to be regulated a mind like his can not regulate his own meds left to him to do it on his own becomes excessive. There is no meds that will cure him but there could be medical marijuana a life saving drug. Help my son"

I've seen some "Pro" comments in this thread, and I am honestly distraught by people's thoughts, saying they want to legalize it not for medical purposes, but because it's "fun" to be under the influence. Marijuana has been specifically, negatively targeted, whereas the other prescription drugs never received such publicized negative bias before being approved. Those persons with serious medical conditions and injuries - such as our combat veterans & cancer patients - must not be denied the pain relief that Marijuana affords them. The AMA could expedite approval of Marijuana, but is being politically correct in response to SOCIAL non-acceptance. There must, of course, be strict set parameters for its use, just as there are for other addictive pain medicines.... the main one being the patient's own accredited physician, who knows their medical history."

Unbiased and non government funded studies all have the same conclusion. Weed is not a dangerous drug and it has far more pros than cons. About the only con that has any validity is that smoking it can be harmful to your lungs. Vaporizers and edibles completely eliminate that issue. Clueless politicians are responsible for far too many folk having criminal records.

I take conventional medicine, working on the 6th one and while it is working, the side affects are bad. If your not dealing with this, your opinion is worthless! As with all illnesses, each medication works differently in each patient. What would it hurt to try it and document the results. If I could take a natural remedy and stop taking these expensive, manufactured drugs that already hurt my body, what is the downfall? The old, formed opinions about medicinal marijuana need to change. If addiction and side effects are the test, then alcohol should certainly be illegal, along with cigarettes........"

"My brother suffers from epilepsy. His medication helps but doesn't get rid of it. Whenever one of his episodes begins all we can do is wait for it to subside and hope no damage is inflicted. Medical Marijuana can stop the heart-wrenching gut-churning experience of being completely helpless as a loved one lays, twitching and shaking, and the horrifying aftermath of an episode. The usage of cannabis should be legal for medical reasons only. Marijuana has been turned into a derogatory term and has made people think of the teen troublemakers causing chaos instead of the multiple medical benefits we can gain. According to CNN 1 out of 8 adults in the US have said that they have smoked cannabis, of which, no deaths were reported or any negative side effects. Cannabis can cure the pain and nausea of chemotherapy, postoperative recovery, pain from a spinal injury, epilepsy, dementia, the list extends to almost anything in the medical field that causes pain. Along with medical reasons, it can help people with chronic depression, severe anxiety, anorexia nervosa, and other threatening mental illnesses. It can also reduce the deaths from preventable medically-prescribed drug overdoses, which costs more people their lives than illegal drugs."

"Unfortunately, with people using the "abuse" arguments, is that they don't realize that people don't police themselves saying "I know I have an addictive personality", or "I am the person who has that kind of thing", and not know when to say "enough", or "no." Once that part is resolved, people can throw away the addiction argument. First, people have to police themselves and tell themselves when enough is enough. We don't need the federal government to be mom and dad, disciplining us. We have to be able to say no when it is right. If people learn to police themselves, then there will be less addicts out there, but marijuana could be beneficial to people with certain ailments. After all, before modern medicine was imposed on us, people used other forms of medicine, and there was never a story of addiction, or problems. Now, the federal government stepped in, and did their bull****, and look what has happened. Western medicine has made some generation of addicts and people who are basically messed up, because of both the FDA, and the other things in our lives. Traditional medicine has failed on many levels, but what can you do, right? Hopefully things will change one day. Boo me if you want, but you know I am right. Peace out."

They say don't take them because they are addicting or make your stools hard or the mask your pain and so you end up over doing it. Well, the psychoactive feeling you get when you take a puff is the side effect from the cannabis. Only it isn't addicting and it doesn't give you hard stools and takes away pain without numbing you, in fact it doesn't have any side effects except dry mouth, temporary forgetfulness (good for folks with PTSD) and sometime anxiety which could be fixed by a different ratio of CBD to THC. They found it wrapped on mummies from 2,500 years ago. I would take that to mean we humans have had cannabis in our lives for a good long time."

"This is a medical debate, not recreational. Marijuana has never killed anyone. It is very hard to become addicted to it, and the addiction is mental, not physical meaning that there are not any harsh withdrawal symptoms when you stop using. To the people who are worried that doctors will be lied to by patients so that they can get the cannabis, news flash, people already do that now for opioids and its only the corrupt doctors who allow it, otherwise doctors can tell who really needs it and who doesn't. Whether it is legal or not, people will get their hands on it, so why not legalize medical marijuana so that when someone who really needs it can without facing penalties for only wanting to reduce their physical, crippling pain. If we have a way to manage pain for cancer patients, the seizures that are caused by disorders, the memory loss of a grandparent with Alzheimers, or to help increase the mobility of someone suffering with arthritis, why don't we make it legal."

Second would be that there does seem to be benefits to people with chronic pains, ailments, and mental issues. There also is less side affects then some other typical medicine. People that have to go through the constant pain with medication that can cause other problems should be able to try medical marijuana as a possible solution."

The THC can be taken out so the user cannot get "high". The people who use the CBD will be helped, but for those who don't need the CBD, it will have no effect. Another thing that makes people have the wrong idea is that everyone thinks marijuana is smoked, which is WRONG, most people in a scenario with an illness will eat edibles or take liquid CBD."

Reefer madness, and not being able to tax something that grows naturally ,is why it was made illegal. I couldn't function today if it wasn't for pot. "Actually, i do agree of using marijuana for medical purposes as it has so many benefits. But, what i am against is the use of marijuana by humans. Human nature is so untrustworthy and unpredictable. Even if its something good, people always makes the wrong use of it. It can have so many social consequences, destroying people's lives instead of improving them. And, we can't even left it in the hands of doctors, as it has been proven that even some medical staff can take marijuana and use it for wrong intentions. So, how can we be sure that it won't be for a bad cause and won't end up creating more destructions than improvements?"

"How has the "marijuana prohibition" been any different than alcohol prohibition? Marijuana doesn't impair the driver from driving, marijuana doesn't have a connection with physical abuse, and so on. Marijuana possession arrests annually in the United State sums up to 575,000 which leads to our crisis of mass incarceration. Keep in mind that that number is greater than all violent crimes combined. Now tell me why does a taxable market that makes billions of dollars in revenue a year that takes less of a physical toll than alcohol and tobacco isnt federally legal?"

With not just pot, but everything, you're going to have that, because some are pro, and some are con regardless, and neither side is willing to give both sides a fair hearing for whatever reason their is. People can only judge based on personal experiences, rather than logic, which most of the time, society's viewpoint is on...well that and the media. What needs to be done, in my not so humble opinion is listen, or put into this site a NEUTRAL category, where the ones who are neutral can speak, this way, you ca have a side that will truly speak as well as listen. "Medical marijuana should not be legalized because not everyone is going to use it for pain relief. It does have it's uses and is apparently good for relieving pain. But there are still the drug dealers that can get ahold of it and distribute it to anyone. Marijuana is a gateway drug which can and probably will lead to more serious drugs in teens and adults. Also, there is no way of telling if the person is actually in pain or if they just want some marijuana for smoking purposes. Marijuana is just junk and if someone is in pain, they can always take a pain killer or something other than marijuana. The last thing we need is the legalization of a drug in the disguise of a medical tool. When you hear marijuana, you think of drugs, not medical stuff. If people are able to get this stuff with something as simple as a card which is apparently easy to get, you can bet everyone is going to start having "back pain". Look at Denver. That state legalized marijuana and everyone is just hanging around on the streets smoking it. There is no way if marijuana is legalized that it will just be used for it's medical purposes. Marijuana has no medical purposes. It's just an excuse for people to get marijuana. The stuff is a gateway drug"

Should we make alchohol illegal. Because more people die from driving drunk. I never drive when I have partaken in GODS beautiful medicine. Another point I have is that hundreds of oeople who have been legally put on opiods have switched to marijuana in place of pain pills. With the rise in opiod prescriptions and deaths in our entire country. Marijuana can be a more natural alternative for chronic pain sufferers, this is also true for many illnesses. Glaucoma, cancer, MS, fibromyalgia, chronic back and neck pain from blown discs, pinched nerves even epilepsy. There have been many kids that have up to 200 siesures a day. With no avail from the many prescription drugs never work. They tried marijuana for their child and it stopped the seizures dramatically."

"You are asking the wrong question. I don't care if cancer patients or patients with AIDS or someone with another debilitating illness that causes them pain relieves that pain with medical marijuana. What I DO care about is the fact that dispensaries all over the place are dispensing "medical marijuana" to addicts who simply want to get high. And many of these "patients" get in their cars and drive home (or where ever) and are high as a kite when they're behind the wheel. I completely object to children being exposed to marijuana (medical or otherwise)--and know perfectly well that the "high parent" is not an attentive parent who is adequately cognizant of his/her responsibilities. Also, having "medical marijuana" in the home leaves the door wide open for children to have access to it directly--or be psychologically induced to use it on their own in the future. No one should have to ingest anyone else's second hand smoke--whether it's from a cigarrete or from a joint. I haven't met too many people who use marijuana who necessarily care whether or not what they are doing is impacting or affecting others around them--particularly older people and/or children. Employees who use medical marijuana should never be stoned at work!"

      "Dear Mickey:
In response to your response: Yes, of course, I am just as opposed to people who drive under the influence of alcohol and kill innocent people. And, of course, I feel the same way about addictive "legally dispensed drugs" that addict their users and cause a myriad of problems everywhere. We are probably the most addicted country in the world. But you are wrong. I have experienced the affects of people who have driven stoned. In fact, I am lucky to be alive after a head on collision involving someone who was not drunk; rather was high as a kite. No, I can't be protected from everything in life. But using that as an excuse to expose the most fragile people of all to other persons' choices--is just wrong. My little four year old (on my watch) is NOT going to be exposed to or breathe in other peoples vape, cigarette smoke, or marijuana. And when we drive, we are as far away from other people's cars as we can get; since 10 to 1-whoever is in front of us, behind us, or on the side of us is loaded on something (prescription or otherwise).

That's the world, unfortunately, that we live in. And as long as I'm still on the planet,I'm going to do all I can to make it safer for kids and elderly people. I'm 64. Peace!"

"Medical marijuana lacks FDA approval.Although it is used for medicine and specific dosages are given, it is easy to consume too much, which can harm a patient greatly. For a drug to be legal and marked as beneficial, it has to be tested many times with hundreds to thousands of human subjects. However, there have only been a few tests made and within the data that the government does have, here is a lack of consistent, scientific data proving the benefits, so it is risky to use. Some of the health risks are that it impairs ones thinking and memory, lowers reaction times, increases the risk of heart attack, heightens the risk of getting respiratory infections, suppresses the immune system, makes one potential for withdrawal symptoms, and causes depression. Too little research has been done on using marijuana as medicine, and the results are unstable. Although there have been positive effects, there is still too much risk involved and may have more disadvantages than advantages. For example, a cancer patient may use cannabis as medicine, not knowing that it is altering his/her brain and sense of balance or memory. However, with the amount of information that the United States has so far, it would be boorish to legalize it now."

"The side of effects of alcohol are far worse. Marijuana does not have to be smoked, it can be ingested, nebulized or used as a topical rub.
Marijuana has been used for thousands of years, up until 60 years ago it was a common weed grown on all 7 continents like a dandelion weed, In fact you could purchase it over the counter at your local pharmacy. Marijuana has been used and studied longer than any pharmaceutical. The reason it's not legal is pharmaceutical lobbyist.
The only report deaths are those who have a sever allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).
Yes it makes people lazy, alters their reaction time, and short term memory but so does Benadryl (sold over the counter), so does melatonin, camel mil and many more.
Marijuana is life saving for the right patient.
It should be regulated and there should be consequences if it's used while driving, or at work.
It should be legal and we should tax it. Think of the revenues that your state could benefit from. That money could go to our school system to raise teacher pay, get our country out of debt and much, much more.
You have to choose between kids taking pharmaceuticals or marijuana, marijuana is the safer choice."

"Medical Marijuana certainly has positive effects on users, increasing immune system function and increasing quality of life for those who suffer from diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Thus, with proper- heavy- regulation medical marijuana is positive. However, it's too accessible in its present form. It's too easy for someone to get a medical marijuana license by citing back problems and begin dealing the drug. Medical marijuana should only be provided to people with a serious need-- people with impairing and life threatening diseases that can be proven by a blood test. In addition, it should be provided by dispensaries rather than made available for "patients" to grow the drug.
Because for those who lack more serious health problems, marijuana has negative effects on users and society. Not only is it proven to cause lackadaisical behavior that limits potential for productivity, but the gateway effect (studies show that most drug users started with cannabis) leads to the use of hard drugs that incite violent behaviors."

If it's too accessible in it's present form don't you think that maybe we should try taking it off the black market and regulating it? I do! If you lived in chronic pain that was only relieved by cannabis what would you do? Live your life in pain or break the law and smoke cannabis? Cannabis is not illegal for public health reasons. It is illegal for political reasons. As you so accurately stated it does have positive effects on people who need it. Whether it's legal or not users will use it and non users wont. Now I've already commented my reasons for supporting the usage of pot, but I will say that research has shown a VERY small percentage of pot smokers do become highly addicted, that being said there are usually other extreme psychological stressors that aren't being addressed during that period of time. Now the story you've shared isn't unheard of in the MJ community, but think about how much more common stories like that are for something as widely available as alcohol (ranked consistantly as one of the overall most dangerous substances on the planet insofar as common drugs, obviously plutonium is worse) so while yes your story is sad, it's incredibly rare pot, everyone knows someone with a bad drinking problem and in the case of absolutely anything we put in our bodies we need to be looking for a lesser of the evils (in pain management compare it to opioids) instead of the perfect cure all"

I do believe that medical marijuana should be used only in medicinal ways, and not being exploited like it is. Studies are still being researched but it is hard to say where they are with this conclusion, will cbd alone help with the pain?
Do I think the marijuana plant is good? Yes it probably can help, with oinments and salves as they say, just like other herbs that can help. Effects of Marijuana Smoking on the Lung by Dr Donald Tashkin is a study that covered 20 years and over 5000 patients and found that the only harm caused by marijuana smoking is bronchitis - inflammation of the throat caused by the hot air you're inhaling, which results in increased mucus and coughing and goes away shortly after you cease burning your throat.

No cancer. No lung disease. Better lung function in some cases.

Why the demonization of cannabis? It's far less harmful than alcohol for recreational use, and it is proven to help many things.

I don't question the potential medical benefits to address symptoms for some diseases; the active ingredients could be extracted by pharmaceutical companies and sold with a prescription. The fact that wealthy "pro" opponents are behind the legalization makes me that much more skeptical. There's no logic to legalizing a drug that has to be smoked and clearly damages lungs."

Marijuana was originally suppressed by pro synthetic pharma and cotton ranchers, because mmj was a better product and cheaper to get. And today the AMA is still against pot because it alleviate all the deadly symptoms caused by major pharma prescriptions. It outperforms all synthetics they make money on."

"Wrong, marijuana does not have to be smoked, it can be consumed or even vaped which shows no negative effects on lung use. Vaporizing marijuana is the procedure of heating up the drug to a point where a vapor is realized. This does not damage lungs. Please get informed."

"Well, Chris, the logic in legalizing cannabis is that it will no longer have to be smoked since it will be available in edible form.
As far as 'pro' legalization being behind the legalization, isn't that one in the same? I mean, who do you think is behind legalization if not the 'pro' legalization people? What exactly are you skeptical about? That makes no sense. It's like saying that you're skeptical about Pepsi retailers wanting Pepsi to be legal.
Do you know what makes me skeptical? The fact that the FDA isn't acknowledging the useful benefits of cannabis. Why aren't they?
If you don't question the benefits of cannabis then why wont the FDA reschedule it out of Class 1, where meth and heroin reside?
Working backwards from your comment, maybe cannabis provides relief to folks with psychosis, which is why you're seeing a correlation in cases with smokers with symptons. If only the FDA would allow proper scientific studies we would know more about how this works. But alas, they sit on their hands and keep the drug war going. How else can they justify paying the DEA $70,000,000 a day??"

"When you educate yourself on the psychological effects of CBD you will realize why there is an increase in psychosis.

Prohibition pressures have literally been breeding the CBD out of cannabis strains, resulting in the most commonly used strains having 1% or less CBD.

This is the same thing as using high amounts of marinol, synthetic thc without any terpenes or additional cannabinoids.

When your kids with psychosis issues start using high cbd cannabis, all those issues will go away. Period.

Number 1... the only reason people SMOKE cannabis is because it's too freaking expensive through prohibition. Those of us that are free to grow and use it without restrictions always move to eating cannabis in some form or other, drastically reducing the 'smoking' to more of a pleasure based activity.

Your opinions are based on your awareness, which comes from a position of prohibition biased information streams. Those of us with the freedom to use cannabis are beginning to know and share the truth.

Educate and free the people. Free cannabis."

"It does not "have to be" smoked. You can make it into oil and cook it into food. THC has been synthesized and made into pills as well. It's called Maridol. You should really do some more research, especially considering you work for a public mental health board. It's also been known to help cases of psychosis, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD when the correct strain and amounts are used."

"Medical marijuana definitely has it's medical benefits to it's patients but, it is too easily accessible. It seems that by just having some lower back problems can get you a card these days and that can be dangerous. The people that claim to have back issues can sometimes not actually have pain and just use the card to smoke and not get caught. This brings a bad reputation to card holders that actually use marijuana to ease their pains. States that allow medical marijuana needs to develop a better plan for stricter rules on getting a card. Card holders who don’t use marijuana for medical reasons often sell to people who want to smoke which cause a problem for the public. If the government and medical associates can figure out a better plan to permit card holders than medical marijuana can expand throughout the country and benefit those in proper need. Until then, medical marijuana should not be permitted because it is too easily accessed and falls in the hands of average people to easy."

Something that is addicted like marijuana is a drug. People who do it obviously will be against it. But it's just another way to deny it. I am just here to explain my facts. Marijuana for a lot of people make a whole lot of other people want to move on to a harder core drug. It happens it happened to people in my family. It burns your brain cells. Almost every cell in your body. So please tell me how is that good for you. If you didn't know for the people who do it. It makes dysfunctional later in the years. It did to my uncle. The way people talk about it makes you all look stupid. I'm sorry I am just stating the facts and this is my opinion. I'm just saying marijuana isn't the best thing for you. "Marijuana IS a Drug; but it is also a plant. To say that a plant can not be a drug is just dumb. Cannabis has absolutely ZERO addictive properties associated with it. The fact that people move on the harder drugs is their own fault not the Cannabis fault. Caffeine is 100% legal and is 100% more addictive and more deadly than Cannabis. How many people have you heard of overdosing on Cannabis? ZERO. How many overdosed on Caffeine? Thousands. True that the THC in Marijuana can mess with your head and create loss of concentration but it can also make you more proactive it all depends on what type of person you are, prime example being Michael Phelps. CBD which is what Medical Marijuana is composed of does not do anything to physically alter your brain as it has no psychoactive properties."

You can't be addicted to THC, it's not physically possible; however, you can mentally become addicted to it with overuse of the substance. You also can't pass a mental addiction, or any addiction at that to a child through birth. Now it is true that the use of cannabis does damage under developed brains, but so does alcohol, which is legal! We have laws to keep those kinds of things from happening, but as everyone knows, there is people out there that chose not to follow some laws. Also, why would you condemn the use without THC, the THC is what the medical purpose comes from."

They begin small; but always find a way to push the envelope further to include growing, selling and before we know it; all neighbors are drug-users, sellers or friends of and whether we like it or not, we are forced to be subjected to drug living--having homeless addicts come and go in our neighborhood because all the other neighbors either use or sell themselves or are afraid to say something that may offend neighbors that do. Theft is rampant& I heard a child under 12 years of age tell his parents that this neighborhood is no longer safe to live in due to drug use, drug visitors and DRUGS, period! It's sad when a child under 12 years can spot unhealthy living and is afraid in his home or neighborhood. In a small environment like our trailer court or mobile home park-we are constantly bombarded with drug use, drug selling and drug-seeking homeless deviants that only have one goal in life--to get drugs at the exclusion of all else--including the innocent people they prey upon and use in their quest for getting more drugs. I know these things because this was my life before I was saved from addiction!"

So are these people a drain on society? These "druggies"? They fall into addiction because the doctor says these drugs are ok. Pharmaceuticals have so many side effects, they will make your head spin. And it is close minded thinking that stops people from getting relief from a plant. Not a drug. Do some research with an open mind. Look up the side effects of Lyrica, a drug used for seizures. Then look up the side effects of marijuana when used for seizures. You walk in, complain about a back pain which won't go away and you can be prescribed such a drug after a simple security check. Not only is this easy to obtain, it's a gateway drug for parties and an easy abuse.
I had multiple kids, my age, who had to undergo such a scary thing with their parents getting into marijuana for medical and enjoyment reasons. Both ended badly. Let me point out that every human body is different and reacts in different ways with different stuff. Drinking and Allergies are only one example. Drugs are no exception to the human body. Results of medical purposed marijuana comes out inconsistent. Why risk such a thing on an easy pain which some strong medical drug can easily obtain? The rest should be self-explanatory.

Matter of fact because of the benefits of CBD when studying lungs of heavy pot smokers they found them lungs to be void of the same diseases found in Americans who dont smoke pot. Pot smoker are healthier by a wide margin. How so?"

"There are other natural alternatives besides marijuana, that are not FDA approved but have been effective in relieving pain and in reversing some cancer symptoms. One example is pine Bark use. It is not addictive. The side effects of marijuana are too risky. The current marijuana plants are also more potent than the old fashioned 60's plants. Many studies were done without the newly propagated varieties."

How about if I tell you that you can't drink your favorite drink anymore because this other drink also quenches your thirst? That's pretty much what you're saying. Yes, cannabis is stronger today than it was 20 years ago and it will be stronger still 20 years from now. What's your point? The fact is that we have no idea what strength we are getting because the only way to get it now is on the black market, which is just as easy as ordering a pizza! The side effects of cannabis are but a fraction of the risk you expose yourself to with legal alcohol, tobacco and drugs! Hundreds of Americans die every day from legal drug overdoses according to government sources. ZERO die from cannabis. How are the side effects more risky for cannabis?"

Instead of telling cancer patients to chew bark, how about you leave them alone, stop getting in the way of positive change, and let them have a medicine that is proven to work for both pain and appitite?"

Sorry, but high cbd cannabis is so ridiculously effective for so many different things your post made me laugh.

"The economy will definitely benefit directly from marijuana. The only problem is that drugs such as weed can easily make people need to rely on it. Just like alcohol in the early 1900s or opium in early China, drugs and alcohol make people lazy. During the early 1900s in America, men were arriving to work drunk or not coming at all. This unproductivity does not help stimulate the economy but halt's our economic growth. Furthermore, the opium addiction that China faced in the 17th century had people relying on it to the point that there was a war that fought for opium. Next, weed is a definite gate way drug. Weed can lead people on to trying stronger substances like heroin. Say we were to legalize weed. In 10-50 years would be have to leaglize heroin as well. There has to be a point where we know when to hold our temptations. Cigarettes and alcohol kill millions of people. Whether that is lung cancer or drunk driving, do we really need another substance to kill more people?"

"Stanley it's not like we're going to ever "get rid" of the plant! It is a weed! It kills nobody, and no, it isn't for everyone or the lazy. In fact, the Opium Wars you speak of are alive and well today, with a billions-a-year business in opiate derivatives for common "safe, FDA-approved" drugs like Oxycodone.

In fact, much of today's Eastern "politics" is involved with it.
That marijuana is a "gateway drug" is a parroted statement almost always misleading, if not untrue. If it is a gateway drug, that is because after smoking it, or eating it, users realize they did not want to go rob a bank or start climbing up the walls. They realize they have been lied to by the authorities for the first time perhaps, all the the things they were told about the "devil weed" just weren't true. WHY would they lie and put these thoughts into peoples' heads?

To protect the existing order of drug distribution, i.e., doctor-pharmacist-Big Pharma (Merck, Phizer, etc.)-patient. Marijuana makes many of their pills unnecessary they know business would take a big hit. Even at high street prices you get more green medicine dollar for dollar than everything except perhaps baking soda and aspirin."

Furthermore a person doesn't have to smoke marijuana to feel it's effects.. Why keep a plant illegal that has the potential to solve many problems.. If it were legalized there would be a lot less environmental damage caused by "illegal grows" because they wouldn't have to hide it in a forest on national land. Why make drugs that imitate a plant that we could be using right now? It would make sense to make marijuana legal because it has all the health benefits a person could want."

"Hi Mike, I'd be glad to help you out. The few drugs that have been synthesized to be like marijuana or cannabinoid molecules include Marinol and Nabilone. They have not been found to be as effective by patients in medicinal marijuana states as ingesting cannabis preparations. Dr. Ronald Drucker explains why synthetic drugs based on naturally occuring phytonutrients are not as effective as the real thing in his book titled "The Code of Life." It is a short 200 page book available on line in .pdf format for you to read on your tablet or pc. Smoking we know is bad for us, as we know it causes lung cancer. However, smoking cannabis itself does not increase the potential for getting lung cancer. In fact there has never been a documented case of anyone dying from ingesting cannabis in any form, smoked or otherwise. See the research by Dr. Donald Tashkin, professor of pulmonary research at UCLA School of Medicine. I also recommend looking at Biochemist Dennis Hill's story of how he cured stage 4 prostate cancer with cannabis oil.
Research the endocannabinoid system for more."

"Medical marijuana should not be legal. Despite the fact that it may relieve some pain, there are many other safer FDA-approved medicines currently in the market that can achieve the same purpose. Smoked marijuana is dangerous, toxic, and unsafe for use. It damage different systems of the body, including the immune system. In 2014, the FDA backed up the federal government's decision to list marijuana in schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act. The FDA also said that marijuana has no "real additive medical benefit." They clearly stated that marijuana is harmful. It's not logical to use a substance that can cause a lot of potential harm in return for benefits that can easily be achieved with other medicines. Not only is this not logical, marijuana is addictive and can be used as a "gateway" drug to other more dangerous and highly addictive drugs, such as cocaine, heroin and ecstasy. Also, if medical marijuana were legalized as is has been in various states, it could be used as a cover for more recreational use, which is definitely illegal. Overall, the evidence is clear that marijuana is harmful and that there are better and more effective drugs, meaning medical marijuana should not be legalized."

"The FDA takes private monies from big pharma to fund the testing and approval of our medications. This is a major conflict of interest. FDA approved drugs, particularly Oxycontin, a man made hospital grade form of heroin, classified as Opiates, are currently neck and neck for deaths with methamphetamine and heroin. Don't let them fool you. FDA approval is about money, not our health. Beware of anything you are told to put into your body by anyone! The CDC shows that opiate overdoses are decreasing in states with MMJ. If the gateway theory were true, we would be seeing the opposite. The CDC also shows that in areas of states such as Washington where people have a lower socio-economic status and are therefore on state/federal health insurance they get prescribed methadone for pain control. This has been a travesty. Ever since they allowed methadone into the state formulary heroin has made a come back and so therefore has overdoses. No ones addiction issues can be laid at the feet of a single substance. It is choices that lead you down this path and bad information does not equal good choices. You can never legislate away addiction or people's choice of vice but we can wake up and treat addiction like the medical crisis it is."

"I do not believe that medical marijuana should be legalized. This is for an array of reasons, one being that I am sure that there are other drugs someone can use to relieve their pain of whatever ails them. Use a drug that is less harmful to your system. There is not consistent scientific evidence that supports the use of medical marijuana for any type of illness. There are better more useful drugs on the market that can help you with sicknesses. Why use such a controversial and addictive drug? Why use a drug that causes such havoc and disagreement in our society? Marijuana is very horrible for a persons immune system. Not to mention is highly addictive. Also, by making this drug legal in numerous states, this shows the teen generations and generations before them that using such a drug is okay. It breaks the social norm that drugs are bad."

Open your eyes, the other drugs, percocet, hydrocodone, Vicodin, Oxycodone... these are the real drugs that are actually doing the damage. Not only are these chemically filled drugs terrible for your body, they are also extremely addictive. Also, you call marijuana addictive.. It isnt. Studies have shown that emotional and mental dependence is the only real argument for addiction as it is not physically addictive. Also, have you looked into how this 'disagreement in our society' was started, William Randolf Hearst.. blah.. blah.. It should not have been banned in the first place and we need correction to the laws now before the 'disagreement' can be settled. The first 40million dollars from colorado recreational sales go directly to public education. Also, drugs ARE bad.. cocaine, heroine, pills, even tobacco and alchohol. It only takes back pain that won't go away to get a medical marijuana card, and in a state which is already struggling (RI), we do not need half the state high. To make my point very clear, it is obvious that by legalizing medical marijuana, you are legalizing marijuana for everyone. Marijuana since the 70's has been part of a high school student's culture, and is that a good thing? Marijuana is a gate way drug, it promotes bad qualities, and it makes you incapable of doing anything productive for society for a number of hours. Is it fair for someone who works hard, is productive, and therefore makes more money since they are not under any influences while working, to pay a higher percentage of taxes than someone who smokes marijuana, making them less capable of working and thus making less money? The whole medical marijuana is a joke, anyone can get a medical card. It is a bad influence on the youth, and it will rip the country apart by creating economic flaws. The people of America are already falling behind in knowledge compared to other countries, so how far would we fall if we were high?"

"The topic of the legalization of marijuana in our country is a hot one right now. Some say that it could lead to new medical advanced including cures for cancer, arthritis, and other life threatening diseases. Those who are against it argue that the side effects are unknown and we cannot publicize a product with unknown side effects. The bottom line is that The FDA, the CSA, and the FCC have all stated that this product is unstable and can cause severe damage to one's body including lung cancer, brain damage, heart disease, damage to the immune system, as well as many more if not used under a controlled environment. That is why to this day the product of marijuana has not been legalized among the entire country."

"What in the heck does the FCC have to do with cannabis???
IT has been used for centuries, if there are any unknown side effects, they are unknown to most of you in this category. This plant is used FOR it's many "side effects". At the turn of the last century, it was used in over 40% of the tinctures and included in the United States Pharmacopeia, which dictates what substances doctors can prescribe in this country's health system. The study done in California (for over 5 years, following cancer patients, cannabis and tobacco smokers and the like) shows it does none of what you stated in your 'Bottom Line' statement. This product was vilified by a man who was tremendously racist, and ignorant about this plant. Back then, we didn't have the science to learn about and test the activity of this plant. We have been testing this plant in California since it was first decriminalized back in 1996. Everything Harry J. Anslinger said about cannabis which he starting calling marijuana, was a made up lie, and his people working under him were taking his garbage and spreading it gospel truth. They didn't mind having no facts when they lied about it back in the 1930's, did they? They made it all up."

"That's true of pretty much any medication. So, you want to take it out of the hands of people who are suffering because it 'might' fall into the hands of someone who isn't? And even if it does, it's much less damaging than cigarettes or alcohol. If you were to break your leg and while you were screaming in pain the doctor said, 'Sorry, can't give you anything for pain because some people might use it for something other than medical necessity.' how would you feel at that point? You're essentially saying that you don't care if it helps people because someone might have fun with it. Why don't you go see someone who is truly suffering sometime and sit with them for awhile. Be sure to let them know that you think that even though there's something that can help ease some of their suffering, you don't want them to have it because someone might get their hands on it and have fun with it."

"I understand what you mean. Many people -who do not need it- will use it just to get high. I would bet doctors will see many more people complaining of "chronic pain" or "anxiety" although thy have NO history of such things. The comments on here saying 'any drug can be abused' are all right but they're taking comments like yours way out of context. I understand what you mean and it's a valid concern. I see people abuse adderal all the time. They doctor shop and claim they have ADD even though they just want to lose weight or have extra energy for work. I think people who want weed for mental illness should be put on other antipsychotics first. Ones that don't make you high! I wish there was a drug test for Paxil, Wellbutrin, serequel, etc and they MUST try those other alternatives before being given pot. Also, I worry about these types of people giving all people with serious mental or physical problems a bad name. It undermines what's really going on with the patient who truly suffer from the illness's other 'pot heads' are claiming to have. I believe medical marijuana can be very beneficial to those who need it but I'm worried about all the frauds."

"No, I don't believe marijuana should be a medical option, for several reasons.
When I was younger; one of my family members had cancer and was eventually put into hospice. My family thought that medical marijuana could help ease the pain of the cancer, and make it easier to eat, but were informed by the doctors that there were better and more efficient drugs for these problems.
Also, many of the widely renown effect of marijuana come from CBD, the compound of marijuana that is not responsible for promoting a psychoactive response. This is the compound that is used in the miracle stories about curing seizures. So instead of legalizing all of marijuana plant, psychoactive compounds included, it might be a better option to extract and use the truly medicinal part of the plant. This is similar to the theory currently used with opiates. Pure opium is illegal, morphine is not."

"No because using weed regularly over a long time can lead to a state called "burnout." A person who is in this pattern tends to be inattentive. They can be described as dull, and being burned out from marijuana abuse affects their performance at work or at school.
Personal relationships suffer because the user just doesn't have the ability to fully participate in them. When burnout is especially pronounced, the pot user may not be able to respond to other people at all. They are in their own world."

"More lack of education here. The 'burnout' you refer to, is caused by using the indica strains, which absolutely stone you to the point of being "in-da-couch". The Sativa strains do not have that effect, but rather are preferred for the alert and aware effects, of the mind and body. There are only three strains of cannabis, indica, sativa and ruderalis. Too many people spread incorrect information, due to a profound lack of knowledge, and a total belief that the government is totally telling the truth. The DEA is required by law to block and counter any and ALL attempts to change anything about the status of this God given plant. Our own bodies have the anandamide signaling system that takes advantage of the components in this plant. I hope this has helped you to at least, SEE that the government has an agenda to keep people in the dark about the only plant that naturally kills cancer cells, and restores proper function to the systems of the body (as long as our barbaric medical community has not destroyed them with chemo, or butchered the body with surgery)."

Eventually, street dealers will be out of business and all other businessmen have to account for their stock, pay their employees, stake out distribution centers and sell what the public is wanting in order to remain in business. Complete decriminalization for possession an usage is the main goal. Legalization is the first step in the right direction. The FDA has no problem with your doctor prescribing you morphine or oxycodone. So why do they continue to protect the income of the Drug Cartel. This has been going on for over 70years. Even legal marijuana used for recreational purposes, would never be legal for teens. Kids have the same challenge with alcohol. Your kids can die from alcohol poisoning, drunk driving, and brain damage from alcohol. The double standard here is ridiculous. Hell, they can die from huffing cleaners and stuff. I'm not condemning them to, but thats when someone should step in and say no. Like how there's age limits to drinking and smoking, kids should know not to do it.
      2. PREGNANT WOMEN should not be smoking anything in the first place. You know how there's labels on cigarette packs and signs in the bathroom saying NOT TO smoke and drink, that would also apply to this... If you're too stupid to keep doing it, you're putting your own child at risk."

Let me help you, not only will your doctor, and your local drugstore love you, but so will the pharmaceutical company. Among a few are celebrex, ultram, vioxx, bextra, elvavil, paxil etc, these helpful drugs, will help with "pain management" by tricking your brain to not feel pain, since "your brain does not know if its your mind or body that feels pain" Never mind if you have never had anxiety or taken drugs before, these will be of great use. The best use is the money making for the ones who told you to take them, will ruin your liver, stomach, heart, kidney's and mind Once you have caused damage that is permanent, paid loads of dollars to find they were not helpful to you at all, then think about whether you want to try something natural that will not harm you in any way except if you use to much at once and either fall asleep or do something that cough medicine etc warns against, operating dangerous machinery or drive. You also are kidding yourself if you think pot smokers are drug addicts, they are code word for sucking taxpayer dollars!"

"A serious thing that can happen at this time is all companies and institutions must recognize that marijuana is federally illegal and the companies cannot risk federal prosecution, hence, occupational drug testing. Read the "for profit" reason for congress keeping marijuana illegal at Marijuana is federally illegal because congress wants it that way, not the majority of their constituents. The U. S. does have to work through our treaty with the United Nations (U.N.) to correct marijuana assessments and remove marijuana from the U. N. controlled substance schedule I. I found one person who is "harmfully" affected by marijuana who is a bipolar youth "triggered" by marijuana. Epilepsy grand mal seizures and resulting injuries from several a day can be reduced to one or even zero in a week with marijuana. You don't want a fork lift driver under the influence of prescriptions, over the counter medications, medical marijuana or controlled substances. Work, driving or operating machinery is hazardous under the influence and the mind must function at full level, hence anti-pain pill medications, taken as prescribed, need to be used until a non-active period of several hours is needed for medical marijuana treatment."

Without cannabis, people turn to other substances that relieve their pain or tone down their social anxiety or lower their pain levels. The difference is that cannabis does no harm to the rest of your body and actually helps heal in most cases.

The doctor has no idea what strain to get. The guy behind the counter at the marijuana shop is clueless. If the patient reads that OG Kush strain has high CBD and low THC, then they'll have to blindly trust that what the local dispensary calls OG Kush is actually the exact same strain they just read about.

Real medicine is not smoked. Real medicine has standard doseage. Real medicine is the exact same whether you buy it in LA or Cleveland or Miami. Real medicine is not illegal. Real medicine comes from people with MDs and not burnout white dudes with dreadlocks and toe rings.

Dispensary workers are not trained medical professionals. They may be well intentioned, nice, and know something about marijuana. So do I and probably so do you. That doesn't make either one of us qualified to give people medical advice or medicine.

There are no common standards of knowledge, care, strain consistency, doseage, or even analysis of what the heck is in each strain beyond "it's a sativa. pretty strong but not foggy" or "it's an indica. It took third at the cannabis cup. Definite couch lock." You know what I'm saying is true.

The only solution is to grow your own if you wish to use it legitimately. As for your comparison to "real medicine", people have been self-medicating with herbs, since the dawn of time. If it works for me, why should I not be allowed to use it? Look at China. Doctors in China use roots, herbs, even elephant tusk and rhino horn to treat patients. "You two are making my point for me. Marijuana clearly has some useful properties. Some labs have identified and isolated them. Cannabis clinics are not labs, pharmacies, or anything even close. They are stores that buy marijuana wholesale and sell retail and make money on the margins.

A doctor may recognize that marijuana has useful properties, but he has no idea whether the local marijuana dispensary has the right strain with the right components in the right proportions.

That's like telling a patient, "Take some medicine." Which one? How much? How? The doctor cannot answer which one because strains vary dramatically and there is no standardization in names anyway. The same strain might be called OG Eden in LA and Northern Lights in NYC. The doctor cannot answer how much because it depends on the potency, user, and method of consumption. The doctor cannot answer how because depending on the strain, edibles may be too strong or slow to act, vaporization may be too difficult or costly, and smoking may be too hard on the lungs.

Marijuana has medical potential, and it should be explored vigorously. It is not a medicine yet."

"Your point is well taken. This is why it should be legal. Medication that does wonders for one disorder is disastrous for another. We do not know which is which until it is tested and tried on patients. Most people are left to find a solution to an unanswerable problem (which is the primary way people find medical marijuana.) It does work. We are forced to discover this on our own, because doctors are not allowed to manage it.
If physicians could prescribe marijuana -actual marijuana, not the synthetic pill that's well known to be crap- then perhaps it's an actual treatment. Wouldn't it would be wonderful if mj was an actual treatment for Lewy? I imagine different patients are different even within the disease. I know very little about Lewy, only that it is often misdiagnosed as Alzheimers or Parkinsons. What if the Alzheimers and Parkinsons patients helped by medical marijuana are actually Lewy patients?

You can use vaporize, bake or cook with it, or even use the hemp oils which is very well known to cure cancer! baking and cooking will not give you a high.. but will give the same results in a milder form. Please don't deny me or thousands like me that need this as medicine, just thinking we are stoners, we are not! I am a senior citizen that is tired of being a zombie by the hands of the drs and their drugs. I want to have a better quality of life, and cannabis gives me this. The big Pharma companies don't want to cure you, if so they would loose money, they want to keep you addicted to their products. I have never done an illegal drug my whole life and don't plan to start... You should do really try being less closed minded and do your research about the history and where Marijuana started. Think about it, over the years everything improves so why are you making comment on how its going to get stronger and stronger? Pharmaceuticals will get stronger and stronger more chemically made and such. So really over the years what are you going to choose? A pill where if you take to many you can take your own life? OR Marijuana where if you have to much you'll just pass out and have a great nap, not overdose? I still can't get over how you compared marijuana to meth. Marijuana is no where near METH, Marijuana was found growing in the grown. Meth was made by Man. Don't compare the two if you don't even know where or what the two are. Know What marijuana is and what it is capable of before you start putting your close minded opinions out there. Does the very nature of humanity suggest that over time everyone's illnesses will take a dramatic leap into something that can't be controlled with marijuana? Or are you saying that marijuana is slowly dropping in potency (which would also be wrong considering the potency of marijuana has quadrupled since the 70's)? Why not legalize a natural product that has many medical benefits and zero clinical additives as opposed to pain and sleep medications with a VERY high risk of dependency. Side effects of marijuana: appetite increase, euphoric state, drowsiness. 0% risk of dependency. Side effects of Oxycodone (one of the top prescribed class of pain killers): memory loss, fatigue, anxiety, hypotension, circulatory collapse, respiratory arrest, and death. MJ dangerous? Maybe, but there are dangers with coffee, sugar, so many other things that we consume every day and even give to our children.

Without any refining or additions this plant stops my seizures so much better than all the meds I've had. Meds cost me $600/month and sometimes make me hate my life with the side effects and they STILL DON'T WORK all of the time! In 2007 alone the CDC accounted for thousand of deaths 1 every 19 minutes from unintentional drug overdose, that was six years ago. That was most likely dealing with people who were not allergic to the drug. My son can't take most medications without serious side effects. He is under the care of six doctors trying to determine what is wrong with him. We are racing against time. The ONLY thing that gives him an appetite and makes life remotely bearable for him at this time is medical marijuana. I was raised ultra conservative, don't drink, don't smoke... I barely drink caffeine, but I would risk my life if need be to defend him being able to use the only thing that is sustaining him right now until a diagnosis and treatment is found. It does not cure anything like pain or make you heal faster. It is a drug, the side effects that some describe to ahve 'worn off' or 'vanish' are only things they feel while they are under the influence of the drug. If someone who is using 'medical' marijauana and goes and kills someone in a car crash, it wouldnt matter if it was a medical drug or an illegal drug, they still did it, the drug still caused it, this doesnt change the fact that they were using a DRUG behind the wheel. Marijuana is way way down on the list of substances( its even natural, unprocessed, drugs are processed material, the coca plant is not considered a drug until processed into cocaine) that are harmful. Alchohol is number one on the list..even before heroin, so society has learned to live with alchohol rather than outright ban it. The most harmfull effect of marijuana is the legal repercussions a medical patient faces when they are injustly litigated against and or incarcerated. How many billions of our dollars has our Gov. spent in the failing war on marijuana? That, my friend, is something so detrimental to this country its impossible to comprehend. How about instead of more jailtime for using medical marijuana we use those billions of dollars to educate the masses about substance abuse and that would be money wisely spent."

"Yes marijuana is a drug! Duh! So is the FDA approved drug morphine. People drive cars and take that prescription too! Guess what they could cause and or be involved in an accident too! But do you condone morphine because it is FDA approved? And then there is alcohol! The worst legal drug of all, kills more people in accidents then I care to write about! No one said marijuana cures anything. It does ease pain that other so called FDA approved meds don't touch! Apparently you or someone close to you have never suffered in such severe pain that nothing else works! You should really do some more research on this topic, not everyone who uses it is a "pothead" they are real people that just want a sense normalcy back in their lives. Because marijuana is a natural drug and not regulated by the FDA there is no money to be made. I guarantee once the FDA gets involved and they start making money on it, taxing it, ect. it will be considered a "new drug"! More people will suddenly "wake up" and support it for what it really does and who it really helps. There are more ways than just smoking it, for it to be beneficial. I encourage you to empower yourself with education and knowledge!"

"Prescriptions are also drugs, and most of the time are a temporary fix. For those individuals who have chronic pain and are taking .. maybe Vicodin for example, IT'S STILL GOING TO BE A TEMPORARY FIX! All prescribed drugs need to be taken multiple times because it isn't just a one time fix. It is physically impossible for artificial hormones or those drugs that block the neurotransmitters to prohibit an excess amount of hormones, to work all the time because those hormones eventually have to recycle or go to the waste naturally. Because when your body makes a proper amount of hormones like seratonin or dopamine naturally they still have to recycle, and your brain will make more of these hormones. If your brain cannot naturally make these hormones than you need to replace them, everyone needs chemical balance within their brain. a chemical imbalance can create diseases, for example: a lack of dopamine causes Parkinson. if marijuana can add dopamine or seratonin or add a euphoric feeling when it is hard to naturally have that, or to even temporarily get rid of the pain why not use it?! I personally have depression and insomnia, and nothing cures those, there are only drugs that temporarily fix the problem. you're an idiot."

Look at alcohol and the deaths they have caused on the roads,If you did any research at all cannabis drivers have a better and more safer driving results in the researches that have been done simply because they drive slower and are more coherent to their surroundings. Alcohol which is a legal drug, alters both mind and visual impairments.I would much rather be on the road with folk smoking cannabis than a bunch of drunks..I know it would be far more safer."

"You should probably educate yourself before you make silly comments like this. You just look uneducated and simple. There are hundreds of studies proving the efficacy (I know, big word, look it up) of marijuana for pain, anxiety, nausea, glaucoma, etc. Synthetic drugs have many negative side effects. I know. I have tried them all. Marijuana is the only drug that deals with all of my problems with no negative side effects. And stating that marijuana is a drug and therefore should be illegal is the most inane comment of all. People used to be lucky to live to 70. Because of modern medicine, people live much longer and better quality lives. Do you mean to say that you take no drug at all? How about caffeine? I hope you are never in a position to make medical decisions for anyone who is suffering. You obviously lack compassion and empathy. I feel sorry for you. You must have a hard time having quality relationships. I will send positive thoughts for your enlightenment. Namaste."

"Wow you are so highly against medical marijuana. Hmm do you drink? Now, let me ask you this how many people have died from drinking and driving and killed someone from drinking. Now a DRUG is a man made. However this is a plant that God put of this earth it can be used for someone that has i dont know has Cancer. Also Textiles: Diapers, twine, rope, carpets, clothing and apparel, fabrics, denim, shoes, etc.Paper: newsprint, cardboard and packaging, specialty and fine papers. Personal Hygiene: shampoos, soap, makeups.Building Materials: Fiberboard, Fiberglass substitute, cement blocks, stucco and mortar.
Also, if you have Cancer and know that well hey i will be able to eat maybe even hold it down you might change your mind. Ps look up how many people has died from Marijuana and how many people has died from prescription drugs... We the people have the right to choice how we life are life and do it in a more natural way.
I hope after you ready this you might understand and are even just alittle bit more opened minded."

I have never used it. EVER. Whether you believe that or not, I could care less.
You want to assume all users are the Cheech and Chong variety and therefore only want it legal so they can get it without risk.
Shame on you. Come spend a few quality hours with my wife and I so you can see first hand how "legal" pain drugs work. They are addictive, toxic, and their effect diminishes over time. What do you do after that? Imagine how you feel after an injury and then imagine having that kind of pain over your entire body 24/7/365.

I take the natural plant over all the pain prescription drugs I have taken, they feel toxic to me. Not too mention I have a friend who is dying a horrible death, she needs to use marijuana to get through the day. If anything I feel alcohol needs to be illegal because it has killed many people, I rarely ever hear marijuana causing that problem. This is considered an herb, which is more healthier than the toxic narcotic drugs. People get addicted to those than marijuana. The drug company are making lots of money with these toxic prescription drugs and they fear that marijuana will out do them. This will always be two sides debating this issues."

Further Canibidial, or CBD - one of the cannibinoids in cannabis, has been shown to strangle the blood supply to cancerous tumors, cause the cancer cells to commit suicide, and helps prevent metastisis. CBD is not psychoactive and does not produce a high. I use a cannabis variety called Cannatonic which is high in CBD and extremely low in THC. I don't care one tiny bit about getting high. I know of numerous others like me who prefer high CBD and low THC cannabis. Please get your facts straight."
